Welcome to Day 9 of the Evening Yoga Movement! Tonight's practice is a 15 minute slow flow stretch to help you wind down and deeply stretch your body. I would recommend having two blocks for this practice as it will make some of the poses more accessible.
This is a great class to increase flexibility especially in hips, hamstrings and quads. We'll explore poses like archer arms, pyramid pose, child's pose and half saddle.

*Day 9 is a stretchy one! You'll need some props for this class but if you don't own blocks, try substituting with large books or very dense cushions or pillows. You can do this one in the late afternoon or evening. Enjoy :)*

I love the music in the background. I find it very soothing.
When I get stressed or I start to panic I notice now that when I want to calm down I repeat some of the affirmations and take deep breaths, it actually really helps before I would just focus on breathing but repeating the words again and again help more

After almost 20 years of competitive basketball, I have incredibly tight hips both in need of surgery. I couldn’t do the half reclined hero pose and it was the first time I’ve ever felt grateful and excited to go into butterfly, it was both relaxing and not painful. Staying in the pose for 10 breaths was exactly what I didn’t know I needed for a restful sleep. Thank you! #goodevening
This was exactly what I needed tonight! I have been on my feet all day and my legs were very sore. This was the perfect evening yoga to relieve the pain and soreness. Thank you!

Yay for coming back the third or second time. As far as I remember, I’ve moved places a bunch. And I still remember doing this practice in maybe 3 places. Love it so much! And makes me calm.
#goodeveningThat was tough! The half reclined pose was way beyond me unfortunately 😔 and I wasn’t sure how to modify it for my very inflexible level.

Agreed. I could not even get close. I did standing quad stretch instead. It looked like a pose that was supposed to stretch the quads. #GoodEvening

#goodevening. I am now into day 9. I practiced yoga for a time and could really tell the benefits. But a long, long bout of IBS made yoga painful so I had to stop. I have had a huge loss of my mom and life has reinvented itself as my sister and I oversee our dad's care as he is 90. I saw your channel and decided to do the 30 day challenge. Some of the poses are challenging but tonight I actually had a moment of "oh yeah, this is why I love yoga!" Your easy, non-judgmental poses are making my re-entrance doable. And I love the affirmation: Today I did my best and that's enough. I have so needed this validation to not feel guilty for not being or doing enough for my dad.
This was a rather challenging one, but I kind of made it 😆 #goodevening

@@yogawithkassandra True! So far I have enjoyed everyone of them. It is an absolutely great routine to hold on to for me - the fibromyalgia is rather vicious at the moment. I also like the way you blend in the affirmations. Many I use in my son's "inner strength sketchbook" (for when he is staying with his father).
My hands were a million miles apart in cow face pose. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to clasp my hands behind my back. But I did my best! Quad stretch was challenging but I could do it with the props. Thanks for another great session, Kassandra! #GoodEvening

What do you mean by cow face pose? If you mean Archer Arms (I could be completely wrong), I didn't use to be able to do that pose, but with consistent shoulder stretches, I can now do it on both sides. So, if you have enough dedication, you can do it! :)

@@catrenarose2131 she said archer arms but when I googled that it didn’t seem to be what we did in this class. But anyway I’m interested to hear you are now able to clasp your hands after persisting with shoulder stretches. Which ones? Also it is definitely inflexible shoulders but also need more flexibility in my chest to do this pose

@@elizabethrhymer4113 It certainly could be called cow face, I've never actually heard what it's called until now. I am a gymnast, so that is probably a big part of me being able to do it. I'll do my best to list the stretches I do (warning, it will be long, and I am bad at names) I do arm circles forward, backward, crossing in front, and up and down,, the thing where you clasp your hands behind your back and lean forward with your hands over your head,, pulling my arm across my body,, pulling my elbow up and back / the pose that was an option in this video before full Archer arms/ cow face,, crawling my arms behind me on the floor (or as I like to do it, putting my arms on my bed and sitting on the floor so my arms are about 90 degrees behind me),, puppy pose, and/or as I like to do it again, but this time I do it in addition, meaning by, I do puppy pose *and* this-, putting my elbows on my bed with my hands together looking at the floor, and leaning down/forward. ...like I said, that was a loong reply. :)

@@catrenarose2131 wow thanks for taking the time to list your stretches. You described them perfectly and sure enough I have trouble with almost ALL of those. The one where you bend over with your hands clasped behind your back and the instructor says bring your hands over your head... ha ha I can barely get them off my back! I just need to persist and not get discouraged, do these stretches daily and be patient. Anyway thanks for your help!

RIght now I am grateful to you, the #Goodevening yoga practices and every opportunity I have to be on my mat. My day begins and ends with Gratitude.
I'm just getting started today. Cervical radiculopathy. Bone chips at C5 and C6. I went to the book. Page 108-109. Bowtie pose. It realigned my posture which is part of the treatment. And my neck slowly loosened up. Bless your heart Kassandra. ✌️❤️

#GoodEvening: I am grateful for the freedom I enjoy today in my life and the freedom of access to this yoga challenge....I didn't use the props for this video and I regret it, because the poses didn't work out for me. I can only encourage everyone to use the props. All other poses were super stretching for my body and it was just right! Thank you!

I am really enjoying this evening yoga movement, its really helping me unwind once my son is in bed and also helping relieve back pain. I am not very flexible so I do struggle with some of the poses #goodevening

Sticking with these each night and very proud of myself. I am loving them but couldn't get into the pose with one leg bent and the other straight tonight and didn't know what the alternatives were so a bit disappointed.

#goodevening I'm grateful for you, Kassandra, for how good I feel after an evening session, for what I'm learning. I'm thankful for KZread in general. My husband & I are in our 60s & we learn so much on KZread. We laugh because when we were growing up, life was simpler, which we're also grateful for... but we had to go to the library & get a book for anything we wanted to know, unless we had a book laying around the house on that topic! My parents DID have yoga books, but they were nothing like you! I feel so lucky!
