Such a soothing cruise, thank you, Alen. I hope you are coping well with the lockdown and not being too bored in the marina. I'm afraid my new scooter batteries have stopped working for some reason they are not taking a charge, so of course, it means I'm stuck in the flat for the weekend, its being taken into the shop Monday and hopefully ill get a loaner of one of their scooters, fingers crossed. Hi Stephen, sorry to hear of your scooter problem and hope it's soon sorted out for you. There might be a simple explanation. Could a fuse have blown in your battery charger? To be honest I don't know how you charge scooter batteries but it's just a thought. I'm glad you liked the video and hope you're keeping well, take care.

Hello Alan, Thank you for all your nice vlogs. All of them are made with great precision and dedication. I am a viewer from the Netherlands and grew up on the waterfront of the river Meuse. We have lots and lots of water and all kinds of riverboats. Yet this is all uncomparable to narrowboating which gives unique views of the beautiful British countryside and your way of life. Your presentation is quite relaxing and at the same time it helps me to improve my English! I really appreciate it!

Many thanks Chris. The jetties are15, 18 and 21 metres in length, so boats of same length are grouped together. I don't actually pass by boats of my length, as I'm moored alongside them. There are cruisers about but not many, it's not something I've really thought about. Cheers

Hi Alan really missing being able to get out again. It's just typical that I have spent weeks installing heating so that I can extend my cruising season and then lock down. People all over the world get pleasure from watching boating on our canal network, which is pretty unique to us, although there are canals elsewhere. Hi Lynn, I did pass a lot of boats but I don't film each and everyone but it was definitely busy. I'm not sure of the outcome with the broken boat but another boater was going to give him a tow. Cheers Alan

Jolly good show old chap and yes it was an enjoyable cruise. The best part for you of having all of us tag along is we don't eat all your food. Look after yourself with your new lockdown. We are lucky here that there is no issues here of that nature and life is all but normal and hopefully it will stay that way but we remain concerned for all of you on the cut.

Hi Alan ,that was a real narrow bit with weed growing in on both sides. Going by the trees this was filmed a while ago. Ours are all bare now and we've had a couple of hard frosts as I write its just 3c so winter is here I guess, any major projects planned for the winter? .Take care Alans tay safe and keep warm.

Nice cruise today though rather busy,in some spots. Hopefully the boat that was broken down finally got home. Do boats have “road service” such as what’s available for cars and recreational vehicles? If the car or RV breaks down you can call for a tow etc. that would be a nice option when a boat breaks down.

Hi Mary Jane. There is an organisation called River Canal Rescue similar to a road breakdown organisation, which boaters can subscribe to and there are different levels of help, depending on what scheme you are on. I am a member and have Home Start included, which I have used once. Cheers

There are grass snakes that live on land and water but that's all I can say. I've never seen any. Cheers

What happens when the canal is narrowed so much as you filmed? Does somebody attend it?

Periodically but much of it will die down in winter. I'm not aware of any working parties presently.

Are other boaters friendly and do you socialise at all x

Most boaters are very friendly towards each other but you do get the odd ones that aren’t. Socialise with boaters I know x

It makes good sense not to move about on a narrow canal at night but it's not prohibited. You must have proper navigation lights though and not many boats have. Cheers

I did see it briefly and it looked like a squirrel. I know other boaters have seen it and there's never been any suggestion that it's not a squirrel. I have heard one has also been seen at Foxton Locks. Cheers
