This information is totally wrong. I had company for 3 weeks who were highly allergic to cats and NEVER had a problem with allergies. I own 2 rag dolls and I can’t imagine my life without them.

Purebreed ragdoll cats always has blue eyes. If they have any other colour its a mix.

That’s not true. The reason why people believe that is because in order for a breeder to put a Ragdoll cat in a show competition the cat must have blue eyes. They can have other eye colors, so that’s the reason people get confused. They are just considered pet quality. There are also only certain color patterns that are allowed in competition, which also misleads people into thinking they are not a Ragdoll. I did a lot of research before I bought my Ragdoll cats. Ann Baker from California was the original breeder. I did research on her and how the breed came about and I learned a lot just from doing that. You can research online and see the difference between what is considered a pet quality ragdoll cat and an actual show breed quality Ragdoll cat. They can run as high as $3500-$4000 for show quality. Most people would not be able to afford a show breed top three ragdoll cat.

I had a male neutered Ragdoll which was an indoor outdoor cat for twenty years. He was a great cat and a good pet. He would wake me up for school (even on weekends unfortunately). The biggest problem I had was crazy cat ladies who would try and steal him or kidnap him once or twice a year. The first wasn't bad with shedding, but i have two Ragdolls now that are. I control that by getting them groomed a couple times a year. My first cat only saw a vet a few times in his whole life. The two I have now go in once a year, but only because their flea medicine requires a prescription. The first cat only ate cheap cat food like Purina or meow mix because that was all I remember them having back in the 70's. Now I feed them TikiCat to meet their protein needs. I fully expect these cats to live 20 years also. They are a long term commitment. They follow me room to room and never leave my side (especially when I'm in the kitchen). They will follow me to the bathroom every time I go and also and get frustrated with closed doors.

@@rexchinese3595 Sounds like you've been talking to someone who hates cats. 😂 Male and female poop smells the same. If you train your cats, they will only use their litterbox. If you pay attention to possible issues like your cat being bothered that other cats are right outside your windows a lot, then he won't pee all over the house. They usually do things like that because they see and or smell other cats coming around. They do it to mark their territory. Please consider 2 cats. Most cats, especially ragdolls, will get very lonely when you're away. Having another cat to play with, sleep with, just be around, is very important for their mental and emotional health.

I got a Ragdoll kitten several years ago. She is the perfect pet! She's very sweet and loving. I don't let her go outside unless she's on a leash. She doesn't seem to shed much at all. She always stays near me. For some reason she sleeps under my bed on the floor even though she's welcome to sleep on the bed. She has a sweet, soft purr that is so relaxing. I'm retired now so she sticks pretty close to me when I'm at home. I think she's the perfect pet and very low maintenace..

Previous to getting my Ragdoll, I had Siamese. I still have my "Queen" Siamese at 18 years old. When I got my Ragdoll as a kitten, I instantly fell in love. I can't imagine my life without one. Yes, both of my darlings are indoor cats. Oh, and my Ragdoll has blue eyes. I know of no other Ragdolls with any other eye color. My Ragdoll "Bella" always wants to know where I am. #4 is a bit of a lie. Blue eyes are the breed standard. However if the Ragdoll is not a pure bred or a mix of breeds it may not have blue eyes. There is a difference between a Ragdoll and a Ragamuffin. Ragamuffins come in a wider array of colors then a Radgoll and can differ from the blue eyes of Ragdolls. Ragdolls are the bases for the Ragamuffin breed and thus it is easy to confuse the two. A Pure Bred Ragdoll, following breed standard, will always have blue eyes.

I love Ragdolls so I recommend it very much, they are so patient and kind and also cuddling.

All cats are good but some are aggressive but we still love all of them.

I have three. Good point to these guys are they never scratch up furniture. One lives outside and he loves it.

If you want a ragdoll make sure you have the time for it because they love being around humans all the time. Trust me because I have one and he loves being around me all times it’s like a little child following you around. They’re well worth it. I brush my boy everyday which he enjoys. It’s the best thing we ever got. We LOVE our boy. His name is COCO by the way. 💙🧿❤️

Aww!! I’m considering getting a rag doll as a first pet! I want them to be clingy lol is it true not cats are more clingy?

I was sad because my Ragamuffin was not very cuddly after he turned 1 year old. I realised he will always be in the same room as I. I feel both of us feel comfortable when we are close, even if we don't cuddle at this time. Maybe in the future he will cuddle again. Right now it is my duty to provide him a safe and stimulating place to grow up.

@@annlavine3576 That’s a rlly valid concern tbh. My family had that problem with our dogs until we trained them to associate going outside with the action of putting the leash on in the kitchen, so that finally stopped them lol.

I have 2 from the same litter. Everything you said is true 👍 I got mine when they were kittens. They are now 4 years old. Pablo and lulu 😊❤ I purchased them for company as i could no longer work due to having health issues after having cancer. I love them 2 with all my heart, i could not imagine life without them. They are with me 24/7. They are my world. ❤❤ I have no regrets. You definitely cannot have 1 ragdoll if its left alone all day. They have way to much love to give ❤x❤x❤x

We had our male neutered Milo for 19 years. He was the sweetest boy ever and I would have another in a heartbeat if one happened my way. I will never buy a cat. Too many in shelters. We got Milo through a friend at work that was highly allergic. If you have a chance to get a Ragdoll, don’t hesitate. We lost him in 2016 and still miss him so much 💙

My condolences. I know what's it's like to lose something you had once held dear. Ragdoll 🐈 s aren't for everyone. If you constantly are away, don't have much time, don't really like having to deal with shedding,and constant veterinarian checkups. Unlike most other cats, ragdolls are unique. They're social, extroverted felines, like Scottish folds,Manx cats,and Maine coons. You'd have to be used to them being clingy. If you don't like the kind of cats that are very active, constantly jumping on your feet,and zooming around,then they're not the kind of cats for you.

Doesn't most of these reasons seem to "fit" taking in the responsibilities of most kitties???❤❤

I have a Ragamuffin and he is the best kitty ever. Having ADAD and recovering from an extended hospital stay I have implemented a great routine for my kitty and myself. Every morning after I make coffee I walk my kitty using a harness around a low traffic neighbourhood. When we come home, I brush our teeth and his fur. After every time he uses the potty, I scoop it up. It is all about a great routine and mutual respect and healthy boundaries. He is my partner not my pet... my wife gets a bit jealous but she is glad I'm happy.

My daughter has a ragdoll she is the sweetest puss so gentle and sweet absolutely adorable she loves at least5 brushes a day

Someone asked me why I never go out of town, since I “only have a cat.” I can’t even leave the room without Wolfie following and asking questions. The one time I left town for a few days, in the 8 years I’ve had her, I paid someone she knows to be with her.

Most of those issues aren't really specific to ragdoll cats. Cuddle and dependency rlly depend on your cat's personnality even though they're ragdolls, for instance mine doesn't really like hugs. Ragdoll cats are the best cats you can get, and instead of seeing what is displayed as "issues", I see them as regular responsibilities any cat owner has to accept and respect. Health problems are specific to cats that come from a specific breed, not specifically ragdoll cats. They're really helpful and especially during the hard times, but do not forget that they are still cats and even though they don't like staying alone they sometimes will want you not to disturb them for an hour or so. A cat is still an independant animal although the ragdoll demands more attention, anyways do not let that video discourage you to get one ! The love and affection they give you is totally worth it.

You shouldn't let this video misinform you, ragdoll cats are extroardinary and really comforting, yes they may need more attention than regular cats but it's worth it in the end. And again, this also depends on your cat's behaviour, don't worry Im sure you will be fine 😄.

@@jeynie842 Yes it should be ok, even though I would recommend trying to work at home in the beginning to make it feel more comfortable. But normally you should be ok, the thing is, when you or your husband will come back from work it will demande a lot of attention but that is totally worth it. In my case my parents work a lot at home so our ragdoll cat never feels lonely.

The only reason I can think of for not having a ragdoll is if you're a miserable person (and want to stay that way). Ragdolls are the funniest creatures on Earth and they will make you smile every second.

I love my ragdoll. I can't wait to get another one. He is an indoor cat. Except on our walks in his bubble backpack.

Since two months I have two ragdolls. But they should be called rather "rug-dolls" as they often lie on their back and I have to scratch them.

If l could afford it l would definitely get one of these babies. I have two extremely mellow cats. I assume there are sanctuaries that take these cats if their owner (for any reason can no longer keep them). They would be re-homed at a much lower cost. That could be an option for the monetarily challenged.

I think Ragdoll is the match to me.

i'm stuck at home and can only go out in a wheelchair due to health problems. i have no allergies, never had any. i have a lot of free time and love to hug fluffy things. i alrady have a cat, but when he pass away and i still have some years left, i'm getting a ragdoll.

All purebred ragdolls will have blue eyes. The shade may differ but they are always blue.

I have 2 ragdoll cats that are now 4 years old. They are indoor cats in a large house and they got a big tree to climb inside. They are the best to wver have happend me

My 2 ragdolls don't shed much at all (and 1 before that also not) and don't get tangled hairs/knots as well, only sometimes, like once in 3 months. I don't brush them by a basic schedule like they write on the internet, where they say once a week or more. I don't brush them until they start to get little knots and unless they're shedding extremely (few times a year) because of changing weather and shedding their coat to wintercoat or summercoat etc. In contradiction to what they write on the internet I've noticed if I brush them once a week (or more) they shed more too, don't know why but that's what happens to all my cats. The quality of the fur also goes hand in hand with the cat it's health and what kind of (quality) food they get. I give them Hills K/D kidney care since my last Ragdoll and also a Sacred Birman both died of kidney failure. My parents in law always had non breed cats and they give supermarket food and all shed much more than my Ragdolls. If your Ragdoll don't need a lot of brushing I will still recommend doing it the first few weeks/months when you get a kitten, just to make it comfortable and not afaid of a brush.

All I heard was normal pet owner problems and responsibilities .

Their fur can trigger asthma, fur will get everywhere no matter how much you clean I can guarantee you’ll find the odd cat hair in your food at some point either was stuck to your clothing and drifted off or bits of fur floating in the air. Next if you don’t regularly empty and sanitise the litter tray it will stink the house out. Also certain cat food pouches will stink the house out. Over feeding them because they’re cute little fur balls will make them over weight being and being indoor cats less active they end up developing joint and kidney issues. Enjoy your ragdoll.

Same here. She had the perfect personality. We have another one now that has been with us for about 3 years and also has a very sweet loving personality.

Any mix or nice indoor cat can Keep your ragdoll company. It doesn’t have to be same breed. We have 1 ragdoll & another type cat

We got our Ragdoll already 2 years of age, it had been abandoned and was living in a barn with the horses. 90% of what you said is very wrong. Our ragdoll keeps all the other cats off the property and is very untrusting of people that he does not see more than a couple of times. He has a door to go in and go as he wishes and sometimes comes in at night to sleep with us but other times not at all. He is in my lap when we are driving on long trips and loves the car, he walks on a leash. he hunts and kills birds, mice, and small rabits to eat, not to show us he loves us. The only way he was to be the way you stated would be if we never gave him a chance to see what he could do. You lock them up like a prison inmate and then that is all they know. They are much much smarter then you claim.

My rag doll is dooo mellow and well behaved- and does not like outdoors! The fur does itch my nose and he’s not really sociable ( a scary cat🙀) but probably best cat overall!!

Does anyone know if Ragdolls can be flame-points? I adopted a kitten 3 months ago, she has red ears, face and tail with light gold fur elsewhere and blue eyes, I didn’t get her from a breeder so I’ve sent off her DNA. I think she’s either a Ragdoll, Birman, Siberian or Balinese.

I had 10 cats who shed lot of fur. So nothing wrong in keeping 2 ragdoll. Never had any prob with fur. I asked my ENT DOCTOR for opinion too. He said it's ok

#2 is a fact. I have one and she is demanding of the attention. #3 is right too, they are pretty small brain. Also I ended up with the runt of the litter, so mine is 6 years old and small, but almost all of this list is on the money. She even trained a tabby to act like her.

Um…I respectfully disagree with the number one reason not to buy a Ragdoll because…. You will likely buy another one and another and another…..😂💕 I bought one fell in love so I bought another one then fell more in love, so I bought another one. I have six ragdoll cats now and I love every single one of them but I’m not buying any more because 6 is a lot. I live in a large three bedroom house so they have their own bedroom aka catroom. They also have a catio on my deck. They all get along very well. They are as sweet as they can be.❤ I cook for my cats and I also prepare raw food for them so they are very healthy. It’s more affordable for me to make them their own food. It really has saved on vet bills too because it’s healthier than canned or dried processed food. I haven’t had any major illnesses at all or health problems with my cats. Even the older ones are very active and healthy and playful. I comb them every single day. It’s a little bit of work with six cats but it’s better than having to sweep and mop fur all over my entire house. Plus they actually like being combed. The last thing that I will say about the Ragdoll breed is they are very highly trainable, unlike any other type of cat I’ve ever had.

Cats are adorable supreme beings and having one or two or more brings joy and happiness to any owner who will above all, be sensitive, respectful of this splendid and magic creature named cat. Couldn't afford a purebred, so I had an "almost" purebred foisted off on me. Vicious, felonious shedding, check. Glamor and regal bearing, check. Blue eyes, check. Really smart and eager to please, check. Training garners ridiculous pet tricks, check. However, does not show affection or snuggling and has never allowed himself to be picked up. Won't even head butt. Did I mention the shedding? Good thing he's so cute, I must say.

I have 3 and i love them

I have a Ragdoll Cat (male) called Toffee and he is very cute. This video is quite right. My dog (Golden Retriever) does feel unwanted. I've started gettin' him in. I've also got another cat (Egyptian Mau) called Kit. My Golden Retriever (Goldie) still loves me and will never stop. I love him as well. Toffee is right next to me! He's a messy one and poos everywhere! He smells as well but I don't mind. I care about Toffee and I care about Goldie and I care about Kit. I look after them all. Toffee is only 6 months old. Goldie is 2 years old. Kit is 1 year old. I am looking forward to have babies from these cats! Kit's a female; I can tell you that!

If a Ragdoll does not have blue eyes - they are NOT PUREBREED!!! BTW, I breed them, so speak with authority!

I couldn't believe he said they don't all have blue eyes! It is absolute BS. Ragdolls have blue eyes - period.

Your title is completely wrong. You NEVER own a cat, they live with you while they want you as a servant. Cats are not fashion accessories. If you want a cat for the right reasons, go to a rescue and give a cat a home.

My rag doll is a great savvy outdoor indoor cat/that attacks the neighborhood dogs/attacked me and ran away when I tried to adopt another cat/she gets more and more friendly and mellow with age but dos not like large trucks strange men or riding in the car/she is a very good huntress/garden keeper vole catcher cat/she used to shed more when I first got her/she is very territorial and smacks the neighbors dog if tries to trespass/very independent /good communicator/well behaved cat/has a lap cat moment now and again (once a day or every other day?)though her lap cat moments are getting more often with age/she has the softest fur and blue eyes that have a black line around them making them look like she's wearing eyeliner/all my friends call her the most beautiful cat in the world/LOL/my fave kinda cat!

So their fairmons relax me for some reason ill start cuddling and then wake up 5 hrs later mine has beautiful green eyes like keylime pie she hates when i call them those. She walks and pottys on leash

The comment about not all Ragdolls having blue eyes is absolutely wrong. Ragdolls ALWAYS have blue eyes period.
