12ga. Camping Trip Alarms - Unusual shell loads!

Ғылым және технология

We put the Fith Ops perimeter alarms to test. I loaded up some shells with chili powder, glitter, fireworks, etc. just for fun. These are legal, even in the weenie state of California. Why? Because they are just noise makers. They don't have a chamber or a barrel like a firearm. These are made to set up around your campsite to scare off bears or other intruders, but not harm them.

I have 8 of these in the primer version , when I first got them i set up trip wires before my sons familys came for dinner , all 3 of my sons are Marines or former Marines and my eldest spotted the cheap fishing line i used and disarmed the first pair so it was very anti climatic for me , as payback my sons spread vasaline on my windshield & when I turned on the wipers the grease turned white where I had to immediately pull over and call a tow truck .

Little bit of pyrotechnic advice: magnesium usually needs a priming powder on it, because it's very hard to ignite most of the time, unless it is in a very fine powder. Usually contains a black powder base with a binder so that when the charge ignites, each piece of magnesium gets lit by it's own black powder.

Thank you for discussing the legal side of this. I don't think most people understand that they can't arm their homes and expect to be off the hook if someone gets hurt. If you dont go to prison and if* found not guilty you will no matter what get sued by any* relative they have. They will win by the way and it's not fun having your wages garnished by the gov. Just ask people with back child support its hard when you make 3grand a week and only get a couple hundred dollars out of it. Plus more then likely the $ ammount will be up in the 7 digits. I wonder if filling a shotgun shell with non-dairy creamer would make a giant fireball when detonated by this thing?! Non-dairy creamer doesn't normally burn on its own, but when it's dispersed properly into the air-"atomized"-it makes enormous, glorious fireballs! This process is the same one responsible for causing old flour mills to randomly explode sometimes, back in the day. Flour doesn't normally burn either, but when it's atomized into the air and exposed to a spark, that stuff will light up like gas fumes. Non-dairy creamer just works way better than flour for fireball creation though. Better make one shotgun shell of each 😉 I almost think like I saw a little of this effect with your pepper shell. It made a decent little fireball there, but there were also streams of smoke like the pepper you used was near-powdered, but also kinda clumpy. Chemistry! We make the best booms!

No need for creamer loads (pardon?) Judging by the way all the shells burst, a 1lb bag of flour carefully 'shaped & draped' over the top of that thing - especially with a little slit in the paper bag where it sits over the cartridge - could well yield spectacularly silly results. Plain or self raising? Smokeless or black powder? The world awaits : )

We filled the shell with thick oil paste paint for an art credit at school. We aimed it at a large canvas and set it off. It only left a 1 inch spot on the canvas. But on close inspection i saw that it ripped through the canvas and covered the neighbors house and car down the block. What a mess.
