#12 Italian House Renovation and I explore a FAMOUS market in Tuscany.

This video, for me, gives a good example of the pace of life and the lifestyle when living in Italy. The farmhouse renovation continues with the kitchen and office area fix and I repair the problems that I had with the cesspit and septic tank. I wonder what I would have done if I had bought a house in Italy at a younger age but feel happy that this feels like the right time to buy and be taking on a renovation of this size.
On my adventures away from the house I show a day trip to the world famous antiques market in Arezzo, Tuscany. This was such a lovely day out that I would highly recommend to all if travelling to Italy. As beautiful as the big Tuscan towns are I still honestly feel that the countryside is better in Le Marche region. But that is just my opinion of course and a very bias one considering I bought a house in Le Marche. All of Italy is beautiful so you cannot go wrong really.
The measuring for the doors and windows took me a while to do as it is so important to get these measurements right when ordering otherwise it is a very expensive mistake to make. I feel good that I can get a large double doorway with a 2m clearance into the space without if causing a problem with revelling the floor in the kitchen area. The windows are easier as one of the windows will need a new hole in the wall to be knocked through while the other window is going into a solid frame that is already in place with the back door to the farmhouse.The renovations are moving along nicely now that I have been able to get on with things myself.
The information for the market days in Tuscany can be found on this link. www.discoverarezzo.com/en/eve...
Thank you all, as always, for watching and subscribing to my channel. I feel pleased with this video as it gives a good sense and feel for the pace of things here. As I learn more about storytelling and editing I hope to let you all experience what life is really like in Italy.
Richard.

WHO AM I?
If you are new here, hello and welcome👋 My name is Richard.
I bought a small house in the countryside of Le Marche region in Italy. The house needs to be fully renovated and restored and I am planning on doing all the work myself. This channel will show your the real side to buying a house abroad before you retire and how I fit in the lifestyle and all the adventure that Italy has to offer while I work full time and live in England for most of the year. This is a long plan to build the life I want, in Italy, in the sunshine, ready for when I retire. I am 49 years old and have two teenagers to support.
I am a normal person that is new to KZread and have never taken on a project as big and as complex as this before. Step by step I feel confident that I can manage life between two countries, do the renovations and build the life and dream house in Italy.

    If I had a nice view I would agree with you. When I was in France on holiday by the sea I often woke up really early, sat on the sofa overlooking the sea with a coffee or mint tea and just enjoyed the view. If the weather was good I would take a thermos cup, buy a croissant at the boulangerie and walk along the beach. Perfection for me. I’d be living there if I could.

Also, I was advised that inward openers are more secure and I don't have any plans for furniture in that space. It should be ok.😊🤞

    Hi @TheCatsafrican The two doors should not take much space inside (1m wide frame) so they will take up a little more space than the current windows that open inward. Morning Richard Can it get any better? You're mastering the video part and music to go along. Perfecto! You got a talent for it and you're a natural on camera. KZread at it's finest - we are hooked on all aspects of your journey. Beyond far better than a travel show on PBS that has aired for decades, even the reno shows - be proud. Amazing progress on the house - understandable frustration with the town council logic ( if you want to call it that) and piles of paperwork, so vent away. The rear of the house with sunset views is NW - and your vision of a terrace is pivotal. But is there a plan for a small morning terrace, to share your coffee with the intimate quite of the morning sunrise? The market in Arezzo part was like you invited all of us along. What a fabulous place. Personally I'd be in big trouble there, antiquing and auctions are a passion - getting that great find. It just kept getting better, all the outdoor restaurant patios, so warm and relaxed - the life. Yes, many have wasted their youth. For the most part what ones values at 20 is very different when 30, 40, 50 etc. But most still waste their life, rushing around in traffic mayhem, and fumes, into their offices, and then back into their homes - rarely do they look at the sky or catch the sunset. So this escape from the rubbish Manchester winters is unfolding to the realization of outdoor living space not just the house. Equal measures. Winter in Canada is like being in a chest freezer, very cold, dark, feeling boxed in and super long. Hard to breathe when your life feels that rushed and restricted. Richness is measured in health, well being, and the simple things in life. Marche has it in spades. Well done.

I paid over 1,000 euros for that water run off to be made - it collapsed and caused that issue at the back of the house. I wish I would have spent that 1k on tools but did not know at the time. Clearing those barns has been hard work with all the junk and stuff left in the undergrowth. Once it is cleared up I dream of a nice sit on machine to keep it all in line. 😂

    The French door entrance sounds like a great plan. Is a dormer type remodelling of the roof possible to allow for a bay to overcome your height problem? • @threeacresofmarche

    @threeacresofmarche

    I enjoy the whole process. Take your time. Not sure if you have to get permission but you could raise the roof in that one section to fit the door in. It should only change the pitch of the roof a little bit in that section. It would even be nice if you did about 2 meters wide and carried it out to give a slight awning over the door.

  • @threeacresofmarche

    @threeacresofmarche

    2 ай бұрын

    Hi @GalaxyZander . There would be planning permission required for that change. I am sure it would be no issue, but that process would need a lot of paperwork. Also, I think that an awning would have to come out of the allocation of space and it seems that no extentions are allowed under the current rules. I am sure there would be a way but I will try make it work with what is there first and fall back to the permission game/dance/merrygoround if I need to.😁
