Mate, love your videos. Quick question, how do you connect your drivers to the binding posts (internally). Ive seen some people solder the wires directly to the stems, and ive seen some people put a connector on the wire and just use the nut supplied with the post. Just curious how you do it. Ta very muchly.

Hey there! New subscriber, really enjoying the build videos. Not sure how much of your fanbase comes from a woodworking background, so you may have heard this before, but I'll give you a couple of tips for free: 1) Lose the pencil. Ideally all marks should be made with a knife, but at the very least, just the sharpest pencil you can find. Also, avoid measuring whenever possible, because the errors quickly add up and things wind up just that tiny bit out of square, which makes assembly a bit of a head scratcher. What I'm talking about here is ganging up your pieces to make cuts. Whenever possible make all cuts of the same dimension at the same time, on the same machine, without adjusting your fence or stopblock. 2) If practical, invest in a pin nailer or brad gun. A relatively cheap compressor from Harbour Freight or the like won't set you back too much, and a simple low end gun is more than ample. For the sort of light duty construction you're doing, with relatively limited exposed joinery, it'll just speed up construction so much, because you won't be fiddling with clamps or waiting for the glue to dry. Time is money as they say, and if you're mostly just using butt and mitre joinery, there is really no reason NOT to use a few tiny nails. 3) Take it a bit easier on the glue. Titebond is expensive, and too much glue in a joint is just as bad as not enough. I would guess you probably need about half what you're putting on. You'll know you've got it about right when only just a little tiny run of glue beads squeeze out the side when you tighten up the clamps. 4) Just a safety note, but ideally you should never make a cut on the tablesaw without using the fence, and you should never ever stand behind the cut. We've all done it from time to time, but it's a terrible habit to get into, and it's especially true when your tablesaw lacks a riving knife, or those anti kickback claw thingies. It goes just fine probably 19 times in 20, but if the blade binds kickback can be very scary, especially in plywood which for whatever reason tends to have more tension in it than other woods. You'll probably tell me that you're just fine and you're careful yadda yadda yadda youtube safety nazis etc, but you only have to be tired and in a hurry and screw up once. Safety isn't for you at your best, it's for you at your worst. Finally, just want to say, it's great to see another maker channel on youtube, I wish I could do what you guys all do. Also I'm pretty sure your channel is about to get huge, so congrats in advance.

Hey Kirby, Currently I'm using a raspberry pi 3 running raspbian. The software i use is Mopidy, an open source audio server, with the moped webinterface and upmpdcli. The latter allows me to broadcast my audio over its speakers. It's rather easy to setup everything. It's a really cool piece of software with a lot of plugins. There are plugins which allow you to connect it to, for instance, spotify and soundcloud. It would be REALLY awesome if you included it in one of your builds. Try it and if you have any issues dont hesitate to contact me. P.S. out of the box raspberry 3 audio to really crappy to fix this, add audio_pwm_mode=2 to the bottom of /boot/config.txt kind regards, Ocelot667

Hey kirby, amazing build so far. Cant wait to see the second part. This is exactly what I was hoping for from you, something big and powerfull. Quite the contrast from your earlier speakers sold online. Can you say something about what you are going to use for the higher frequency? Judging from the second round hole maybe a fullranger? Maybe the bigger brother from DA ps-95? Anyhow; I would love to see more of these build logs! The pace is very well balanced; slow (so that you can see all the steps) without it getting boring. The music also keeps it chill. Some better lighting in your workshop would be a welcome addition though. Maybe an underwhelming question, but how do you keep that pencil so sharp? xD Regards from the Netherlands!

I think you should try and make some guitar cabs. 1x12 or better yet 2x12. 4x12's are great too, but a bit much for most. 2x12's are the best of both worlds.

I've built a few 2x12's before I stared filming stuff. Thats a great idea for a future project! Thanks for watching!

THE VIDEO SHOWS SOMEONE CUTTING WOOD TO HOUSE A SPEAKER OR SET OF DIFFERENT SPEAKERS, WHETHER BE IT THEY ARE TWEETERS, MID-RANGE OR WOOFER. IT DOES NOT GIVE SPECIFICS ON WHETHER IT IS ANY OR THE ABOVE. NO DIMENSIONS OR SPECIFICATIONS TO BUILD A PROPER SPEAKER SYSTEM FOR THE DESIRED SPEAKER BEING HOUSED. EACH AND EVERY COMPONENT HAS TO BE CALCULATED IN ORDER TO BE FINE TUNED TO GIVE THE PARTICULAR SPEAKER BRAND IT'S FULL QUALITY IN DEPTH AND SOUND. FIRST IN BUILDING A ENCLOSURE YOU MUST DETERMINE WHETHER YOU ARE BUILDING A LOUD SPEAKER, PASSIVE POWERED SUB SYSTEM, ENCLOSED SEALED SPEAKER SYSTEM, OR A FINE TUNED TOWER OR SOUND BAR. EACH REQUIRE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF BOX SPACE DEPENDED UPON WHAT KIND OF SPEAKER ONE IS TRYING TO BUILD AND WHAT THE SPEAKERS SPECIFIC PURPOSE IS TO BE USED FOR. JUST BUILDING A SPEAKER ENCLOSURE ALONE WITH NO ACCURATE DIMENSIONS ACCORDING TO THE SPEAKERS FUNCTION NEEDS, WILL RESULT IN A POOR SOUND QUALITY. THERE FOR THE VIDEO IS GOOD FOR WATCHING UNDER ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY AND NOT FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES OR INSTRUCTIONAL USE!!!
