In this video, I start re-roofing the house. I start with removing the old asphalt shingles. I decided to re-sheath the roof, I did so by layering on a layer of 7/16 OSB over the existing plywood sheathing. I dried the house in with 30 pound felt paper. This set's me up to plumb my vents through the roof, apply drip edge and shingle the house up...coming soon. This video ends with applying plywood to the underside of the overhangs and spray on a coat of Olympic solid stain. It's quite a project but one that I am enjoying, both the work and sharing the process with you all.

HIS cat-like balance has failed him a few times lately on the ladders, wearing those stupid booties. Be careful...don't get too cocky! BTW: you're doing a great job!

Just a piece of advice for next time you're taking a roof off- flat bladed coal shovel. It works pretty much the same as the potato fork you were using, but you can just shovel the pieces off the roof. Also, you can pull a lot of the nails with the blade.

with the spraying, handy tip. keep the tip your using, but buy either the same one in Fine finish, or better still, fine finish low pressure. The tips are marked 515FF or 515FFLP etc. Also run a medium filter in the gun handle. That will significantly reduce your overspray, and you'll use half the material to paint. Prob about $35 over there for those two mods. I generally use a 312FF or a 412FF for most stuff, it has an ovalised spray pattern more like a HVLP gun spray pattern, so you dont end up with lines or a hard edge as you get with the standard tips. Treat yourself to a cordless nailer too lol. You can buy tips that spray a 2 inch fan, up to a 24 inch fan. But the fine finish part makes a big difference. The first number in 315 - so the 3 x 2 = 6 inch fan at 10 inches or so. the 15 is the orifice size. So for thick paint you want a 12 up to 15, for finer stuff, gloss 08 10 etc. So 3(x2=6inches)15 or 315 310 312 etc. General exterior house paint 312FFLP / 412FFLP

I see a lot of comments asking why didn’t you just demo and build from new. Aside from cost savings/permits etc... there is also a bit of fun that comes out of rebuilding something that has character. I have a soft spot for older functional things, not to mention, you are reducing your carbon footprint, and to that I salute you sir.

Just a suggestion on your plywood roof. Measure down from the top on 4 foot centers, pop a line at the bottom and start your first row. That puts your cut at the bottom, which you can do on the ground and then just put a small piece on at the bottom. And you dont have to cut on the roof getting slick saw dust up there. Just a thought. Great work though.
