I am out in California. We have charges like assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. He has been charged with assault. The NY charges sound minimal. I am thankful the girl and her mom came forward. Police and politicians want to hide crime. Without the face of the victim they’d drop charges in a month.

Lengthy trial, proving he's mentally ill, not responsible, etc, cost $$$$? Same with specialized mental health incarceration and treatment. Can't think of any other reason for letting dangerously violent people out on the streets, especially after 15 previous arrests for similar. Poor child, she'll recover physically, but not emotionally. She'll need support to overcome her fear, if its possible.

If he's found guilty of criminal assault and ascertained to be mentally ill then he should be remanded to a criminal mental health facility where he can be treated until he is determined to be healthy. He shouldn't be released until he's mentally healthy, regardless of the duration of his criminal sentence. In many cases in the US, inmates are released whether they're ready or not. It's a big problem in the US, and here's an example of that consequence.

She needs to send a thank you note to Andrea Stewart Cousins & Carl Heastie. They support criminals & allow people like this to stay out of jail.
