the cyndrilical mirror is fascinating!!!

A trick with the parallel line illusion is to look at the edges. The edges end at the same spot vertically and horizontally. That is only possible if they are straight, and thus parallel.

That one is a tie (with the final) for best illusion. I paused to study the image, there are lots math/geometry REASONS to know they are parallel. But man it LOOKS like the blue 'paths' are bent two different ways (half sloping up and other half sloping down). KZread actually helped because (at least for me) when I pause video the horizontal time index (line shows/overlays bottom of video) shows that the blue 'path' is truly horizontal (well at least the bottom one).

That's because it IS a dog, just with a man drawn into the ear. Art work like this are not actually illusions, just multiple images in one. A drawing within a drawing.

i was gonna write that too. to their credit, when you google charles allan gilbert, the only two pics that isn't the drawing in the vid or other drawings of women is a pic of a younger man and then that pic of edgar allan poe next to it, so they probably just thought it was the same person later in life

At 0:47 that is NOT a picture of an artist. That's a photo of Edgar Allen Poe. What's up with that? Okay..I found the webpage from which this picture was grabbed. It's a page about Charles Allan Gilbert that includes a daguerrotype of Edgar Allen Poe. The video creator apparently thought it was a photo of the artist and doesn't know what Edgar Allen Poe looked like. A little research would have helped. There is a photo of Charles Allan Gilbert on the web.

this was a very interesting video

Some of those faces in the tree are a bit "questionable" to put it mildly. As for the chess board, there are 17 lines. If you count 8 lines up or down then look at the next line, (middle line) it's stationary. The lines above the middle line move left to right and the lines below the middle line move right to left. The lines move faster as you get closer to the top and bottom. That's what gives the illusion of rotation.

It's not a dog. It's Bright Side clickbaiting again.
