BRM V16 and 917 flat 12, two of the best sounding engines ever created. Ever time I hear that BRM motor can't believe that sound is coming from only 1.5 liters.

My dad had a V10 touareg for a little bit.. the amount of torque it makes is crazy.

Í didnt really understand your comment, so if this was a question, than im going to answer it, spirfires did use merlin engines, and later in the war, griffon spirfires were made, that was spirfires with griffon engines in them. Much more powerful, but not many were built as meteors were allready invented (which were jet fighters)

Pls everyone who thinks the engines faulty, look up the video about the V10 TDI(n read the description). It was just cleaned and water from the washing got into the exhausts by accident. Nothing wrong there.

VW fanboys like to talk it up because they would talk a pile of rotting shit up if it had the VW logo on it. The Diesel engine is the real winner in this video when it comes to VW engines.

tune a slightly bigger turbos would put you in the 500hp 700ftlbs range.

That hot rod with the two v8's. I seen it a few years back in Hot Rod magazine's "Dare To Be Different" issue.

The sound of the BRM v16 was infact recorded at the Goodwood circuit back in 1999. This recording was part of a free CD that came with an issue of Motorsport magazine.

I'm gonna get a Pontiac solstice and slap that 27 litre v12 in it let's see that's 1900lb car and a 1500hp engine,Tokyo Drift mode activate!

That BRM engine was sweet. So smooth with only like 93cc per cylinder. The Merlin engine was awesome and helped us win WWII. When the P-51 came out, it had a crap engine in it, but then they put the Merlin engine in it and it became unbeatable. It was finally possible to have P-51s escort B-17s all the way to targets and back. And (drool) that footage of that 917 on track was just amazing. It looked like it owned the track. Great vid!

That 14.7 liter R12 is sick! Hell all the rotary engines are sick!

First: the A45 has a gasoline engine, the V10 in the Touareg is diesel. Second: there si like 10 years between each other. Third: let's see how fine the Mercedes 2.0L will be after ten years. The V10 TDI may not be cheap to maintain, but it is not that bad. On the other hand, I heard many stories about the A45's engine to break down etc. Don't be a kid, because this was not a mature comment.

Hell no.. Nah, if you want a powerful diesel, get an 535d.. Produces the same bhp and 440lbs/ft.. Cheaper to buy, cheaper to run.. Smaller, looks better and cheaper to tax

+Phil Rauchi Well, VR engines are basically V-inline's, while W8 is V engine of two V-inline engines, if you can understand it. If they call it VR8, it should be inline-8 with half of the cylinder slightly offset to create low angle V-engine, thus just like existing VR6.
