    There are so very few things that i dont like about my Evo 8 that i dont really have enough complaints to create an actual list, but the one thing i absolutely dont like is definitely the Turning Radius! I have to do a 3 point turn a lot more than i would like. I guess if you plan on making power, the tranny's, especially the 6MT is pretty weak, but i had English rebuild mine and now its solid! The interior is pretty average, but i have an SSL model, and i love the leather interior! what i think is far more important to know is the common issues that these Evos have. I wouldnt let any of these problems stop you from buying one of these awesome cars, but If you DO buy an Evo 8/9, these are the top things to check out ASAP after you buy it. 1) *PROBLEM: Ignition Switch malfunction. *SYMPTOMS: Car is hard to start. Sometimes takes a few minutes to get it to turn over. *FIX: Take the column covers off and tighten the screws on the switch located on the left side. If this doesnt fix it, u'll need to replace the switch *TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: 10-20min 2) *PROBLEM: Key Switch Reminder short *SYMPTOMS: Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep even when the keys are out of the ignition. Key FOB wont work *FIX. Take column covers off and remove the little white box right behind the ignition. Either replace the entire harness with ignition keyring light & reminder, or you can just delete that function all together by connecting the 2 green wires that go to the reminder switch, & the car will always think the keys are out. *TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: 10-20min 3) *PROBLEM: (If you have a Sunroof) Sunroof stops working because the screws that hold the motor to the roof come loose. *SYMPTOMS: Broken Sunroof *FIX: Remove the headliner to access the sunroof motor, find the loose screws. Manually push the sunroof to the fully open position. push the open button so the motor goes to the open position. Screw the motor back up and make sure to use loctite this time. *TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: 30min to an hour depending on how familiar you are with removing the headliner. 4) *PROBLEM: Water corroding the lower Drivers side harness(This was definitely the most serious issue ive had) *SYMPTOMS: Lights not turning Off, Wipers going Crazy, Car not turning off....Pretty much all accessories go haywire. What happens is water gets through the fender grommet on the drivers side and drips down the harness wires and rests in the connectors behind the kick panel under the dash and corrodes all the wires. *FIX: Basically rewiring two of the connectors(about 20 wires). It only looks like a few wires are effected at first glance, but 99% of the time they all need to be rewired. All 3 wires in the black connector, and all wires in the white connector located above the black one. Hard wiring with solder is the best way to fix, but waterproof heat shrinking solder connectors work well. Make sure to seal the grommet w/ silicone & use a lot of dielectric grease on all the new connections. *TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: 1-2Hrs depending on method 5) PROBLEM: Power Window wont work SYMPTOMS: Power window regulator cable breaks, causing the window to not work. FIX: You can buy just the regulator w/o motor and replace that. TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: About 45 min 6) *PROBLEM: Fuel Tank Lid broken *SYMPTOMS: Fuel Tank Lid wont Pop *FIX: Replace the missing Spring *TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: 5min HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE

    for the turning radius LOL same here, there was a very tight u-turn section when i go to my university and i can't avoid that place. all the cars went through there smoothly except those big truck or pick-ups. and me, with my evo have to roll it back once and complete that turn, people r looking at me like "dude, can u actually drive?" LOL

    Depends how much you're willing to spend. Most important part of buying an evo is making sure you have a shop locally that knows how to work on it since i can almost guarantee you any normal repair shop will fuck your evo up. That or get ready to buy a bunch of tools and learn how to do it right yourself like czero. Evos aren't really all that unreliable, but for the most part they are kinda cheap cars, and you get alot of dipshit kids running the fucking thing into the ground and not really putting much back into maintaining it. Keep up with your fluid changes, don't launch the fuck out of it everyday, and do the servicing at its intervals and the car probably wont have any real issues.

  • @ps3alphagamer12

    Verik yeah man this goes for all performance cars across the states the prices vary heavily. For example when i was stationed in Tennessee i could find low mileage stock evos going for 20k or less this one evo 8 i found had 52k miles stock everything going for 15k a fucking steal for that price also found an sti that was absolutely beautiful with tasteful mods going for 14k with only 55k miles!!!!

  • @ps3alphagamer12

    @ps3alphagamer12

    6 жыл бұрын

    B M hell yeah man some people sell their shit for fair prices man, its kind off ass backwards now a days, all the heavily modified shit goes for astronomical value but the mostly stock shit is being sold for dirt cheap. One example was again when i was living in Tennessee there were 2 beautiful FD RX7’s on sale on craigslist one was stock for the most part with a freshly rebuilt motor going for like 15-16k and a ls swaped fd with higher miles on the body going for 30k. I remember just a few years ago modified cars were being sold for way less than their stock counterparts in the same condition and thats how it should’ve stayed but i guess its just the new norm now to make you money back on the mods

    One reason why I think Evo's are underrated is because people seem not to understand the concept of a tuner car. Evo is one of the best blank-canvas cars for tuning (with STI and GTR), as a stock one sucks a lot but they are relatively easy to adjust to driver's preferences

    Yes! as much as I enjoy your other videos, Evo videos are #1. Topic suggestion - Is it better to buy a Stock Evo or Modified Evo

  • @jonathancamilo952

    @jonathancamilo952

    6 жыл бұрын

    0KFilms from what I've heard is that if you buy a modified evo you never know if they did the job right. Any used evo will probably have some mods to it. But if you find a stock one I personally say that's better so you know what's been put into the car and how well it was put together.

    It depends. A lot of times a “stock” evo was once 500+whp from my experience and the past owner just converted it back to stock so they could get the most money from the car. (Selling the modified parts for cash + stock part) also stock evos tend to run a few thousand more dollars in my area. Where as a modified one may or may not have been put together the correct way... how do you tell? Own the car for a month or two and see what weird issues start to pop up

    Shawn Hacker this guy knows what he's talking about. Just cause it's stock doesn't mean it's been stick it's whole life. Both Evo's I owned were bought new (03' GSR and 06' GSR SE) and both were sold modified. I actually felt better selling them modified rather than converting them back to stock.

    Dillon Thornton the problem is that the evo is already based on an economy car like the Camry (lancer) and things like power windows should be standard in a car made in the 00’s. Thats just lazy.

    I remember buying an Acura RSX Type-S... my insurance was $230/month. I had to trade it in. I took insurance into consideration when i recently bought my GTI. Brand new GTI is only costing me $54 /month. It's a 4-door hatchback.. and I'm glad there isn't a huge demand like there is for Civics or STIs/EVOs. I too am worried about big wings and an aggressive looking car that will be a cop magnet. I can de-badge my GTI and make it look like a Golf TSI, haha. But my biggest reason for going with a GTI is because I was driving a car getting 16 MPG... and the GTI with a stage 1 or 2 can get 35 MPG and 350 HP on a Limited Slip Diff.

    Cant you customize suspension to have drift car steering angle with a 6speed sequential soften springs slightly after putting after market coil overs and to be honest you can change speakers doors and interior but its more expenses
