Jealousy Warning: Yesterday I was passing through Kanab, Utah. My daughter and I were stretching our legs when a classic car with Oregon plates pulls up to a gas station parking stall right by me. Out hops a guy and his daughter. Since I grew up in Oregon, I ask the guy where in Oregon he's from. I recognized the voice as soon as I heard him say "I just bought this from someone in Oregon" I totally randomly bumped into Paul in Kanab, Utah. He was super nice, I didn't want to take much of his time because he seemed in a hurry. He was really friendly, down to earth and just an overall good dude! Paul, It was a pleasure bumping into you! Thanks for the great content.

I truely believe in Karma! You were ment to find theese incredibly awesome vehicles! Maybe even some help from the other side? Stranger things have happened. As far as the truck goes!, I loved the idea of a blower, the truck seemed to be absolutely beautifull. Black! With a blower, monster engine! and lots of chrome. New tires and fantastic rims! Really couldn't see into interior, black tufted leather! And a crazy sound system. I can't wait to see what they both look like! After the love that you put into them. A great post! From a loving family! Thanks for the great ride.

@@williamd1891 that's what you say here, but I'm willing to put a wager on you doing exactly like he did. They didn't have the option of "towing" it. By "towing" that means getting a tow truck to take it, which let me educate you on tow rates. They are rather pricey, at over $2 per mile, it would have cost over $4,000. to "tow" it, maybe over $5,000. He couldn't trailer it, because there wasn't enough room on the trailer. Why wait until spring? Then you have the expense of going back up there again. The idea is to try to not be wasteful. Your two examples would cost alot of money.

I've been watching your channel religiously. I'm so jealous now I almost can't bear to look. I had a 2 door 69 Catalina convertible for a while from about 1989 to 91. It was awsome, but made me want the Firebird just that much more. Without going into how I "lost" the Catalina it's one of those things where the wound never quite heals.

The Firebird cleaned up so nice - that is a museum piece, basically a survivor (with a couple of updates to the stance and wheels), but a dream of a car. Can't wait to see the '42 build, I know it is going to be a stunner when done - next stop = Smokey Burnouts!!! Thank you Paul and family for sharing this journey. Incredible.

The Firebird is my favorite of the pony cars since they were rare compared to the Camaros. If the heads have never been rebuilt you might want to run some additive to save the valve seats. The motor for the truck should definitely have a roots style blower with a six pack on top or a 8 Weber IDF system looks old school trick. Glad the footage of you two crop dusting each other made the final edit. Keeping it funny and light.

I'm old school, turning 65 next month, and remember when the visual impact of a muti carb setup was super cool. Granted not the best performance, especially by today's standards, but definitely a conversation piece. Whatever you do, it will be fun to follow along. Loving the Firebird, to be able to drive it almost 1000 miles after it sat for 5 years is beyond any words in my vocabulary, nope, got two, mind blowing! My second car was a 68 Firebird with a 400 ci motor, but with 89,000 miles she was tired. Congratulations! My vote for the truck motor is BBC with a blower, that always screams hot rod.🤑 And I thoroughly enjoyed the video, as always.👍

I love a good road trip! The way you just kept going at it to bring your new baby home was cool and as far as the part where you were slowed down just remember, a hundred years or so ago 12 miles a day was a good days travel unless you were on the train or stage coach. I tell my kids there is a reason why in the states settled pre 1900 the old towns are only 7-10 miles apart.

I laughed so hard “I just paid $.10 for those bags!!” Bahaha welcome to Oregon. Just before that, I was thinking to myself “wonder what town they’re in pumping their own gas? 🤣 That car is a beaut!

@@awolfalone2006 it’s been what 2-3yrs now? I still forget to bring my own every damn time. I’ll carry an arm load of groceries just out of principle. Too many bags in landfill.. let’s make them thicker plastic and charge for them, that’ll fix it 🙄

What an awesome find! On both of them. Those old birds are pretty special. I think the truck needs a good blower and some wide whitewall meats in back with red steelies.
