Back in the mid 60’s, my friends and I all had homemade mini bikes. We’d get a frame, used of course, and created our bikes. One of the guys father bought him a brand new Rupp mini bike. Your bike reminds me of that. It blew all of our “homemade” bikes away. Great times

Hey when you were testing the compression and it said 60 psi that's how it's supposed to be from the factory. It's got a compression release you would have to spin the engine over with a drill to get the true compression number. Also should replace that clutch before buying anything else.

FYI. I've had a lot of weird things happen with condensers. 70 Challenger. When the condenser would start to go the car would start, idle perfectly, but any pressure put on it, it would break down and stall. We used to test them buy nosing your bumper up to a tree, in gear and give it a little gas. I had the same thing happen to me in an 82 boat. It would start and idle perfectly but the second you put it in gear it would stall. Had to be towed in 2 miles. Got back home and it donned on me, oh yea that what condensers do. Had two extras with me that day but never thought of it. lol Condensers will break down with time also. Never trust one over a few years old. Good luck.

Thats a neat little bike. I would definitely go with another little b and s engine to stay with the theme. The brute looks great, looks like its tires need refreshing. I definitely recommend bighorns or a close copy. I had them before and great all around tire. Love all the projects you do. Wish i have access to more projects like that.

Fires right off, new carb on it too. Guy wants a tote goat made out of an 88 kdx 200 frame. Got the chain drive clutch for it, etc. Gonna be an interesting, rainy day project.

I agree with the diagnosis man it needs an upper end rebuild at the very least piston and rings and a good hone I’m sure ya could get at least 100 out of it after that and should make decent power and if ya grabbed a new clutch too would be icing on the cake man those lil bikes go for decent money here so it’s worth it to fix

If my memory is correct, these mini bike were sold by Harley dealers for a short period of time as a promotion. I would keep as original if possible. The clutch would be my first choice for replacement as they can burn up (the friction material) and simple to replace before engine rebuilds.

They are bad to glaze, especially with a poorly running engine that can’t generate enough rpm for full lockup. Sanding the drum and shoes can bring one back most of the time.
