The cases themselves look good, but they're not hard to find or expensive. You can re-chase threads and or use helicoils if needed. Internals are readily available. Cylinders are not cheap, but not unobtainium either. Head looked good. Honestly might be able to salvage that cylinder with a re-sleeve or big bore. It's salvageable. I'd be looking at every option and part needed to get it running/restored versus what a running/restored trike would cost to buy. She's worse than rough. Good luck with it! Looking forward to the next vid on this one.

I've cracked open a few rusted stuck engines and what I've found is that rubber mallets are best left to normal engines that are just slightly stubborn. Best results I've had is with a 8-10 inch piece of 2x2 pine with a good 2-3 pound hammer or a solid hard plastic dead blow. The wood wont damage metal and still has a solid jar to it. But you got the job done. My first thought was engine swap, but rebuilding lets you know what you have in it and that its done right. Would love to see a frame up restore and would give you lots of content. Either way enjoyed the video!

You can use a heat gun for resorting plastics because it brings the original plastic to the surface, even if you do plan to replace them, it wouldn’t hurt to try.

Heat gun and a thinner/linseed oil mix after do wonders for old plastic. Especially for what people want for old plastic nowadays. Got an old ke 100, the plastic was pretty whited out looking. Rear fender no better than what I had was around 75$ on eBay. Came out pretty good with a little sanding/heating/coating. Have done a couple bikes now. Takes time but worth it imo

As long as you can get a tiny bit of movement, it kroil needs 1/64 of an inch of play to seep in behind the threads.. 30 minutes and it comes free like a new one! edit: it DOESN'T fix cross threading however.. yikes

A Tecate 3 is one of those machines I've never seen in the wild. I'd love to find an 86 that complete.

I'd use some commet.,an some Scott rite pads. With some Dawn dish soap scrubb it rinse it off with water good. Then wipes. Then use A heat gun over it lightly to bring the plastic back to it's original look again. I don't recommend getting to close to the plastic when heating it to light melt it to bring back the clear shine out of it again Joe.

For plastics you should wash them with a pressure washer using amonia in hot water and soap with a brush on a drill, then burning them with a torch should be an interesing idea to kinda reset plastics then polytrol. Great content !

You had me cringing on that spark plug Joe. As a retired elevator mechanic, I often came across things like this. The way I would remove that, especially in aluminum, would be to loosen it up a bit, apply some knocker loose and then tighten then loosen a bit more then tighten. Keep repeating. Overall your a great man. truly enjoy your videos. I have subscribed and will continue to watch.

As long as you have the radiator tanks, any good radiator shop can rebuild the radiators for you and it would be cheaper than buying a new one, if available.

Bottom end looks surprisingly good, clutch, water pump, ect. I think the ring is seized to the cilender.. Try hitting the piston down with a block of wood to break it loose.. My Dad and I did it on a old tractor, 4x4 and a sledgehammer!! 😂

I've seen alot of your videos, your very smart man. Tips are always nice but nobody has to accept them. I figured I may leave you one! Do with it what you think. I've seen where you get all the way down to the bottom end just to find its a piston rod bearing etc. At TDC rock the clutch basket or crank back and forth then rotate onto the middle of the piston stroke and listen for clanks as you rock the clutch basket or crank again. Also with head removed by appling small pressure down ontop of piston with your hand you can feel the clanks/thuds. May help you diagnose piston rod alot faster

Someone else brought up LA sleeve, they good great work I had a 1979 chrome bore CR 125.Sleeved to a 1980 piston and made it bore-a-bull without buying a complete barrel.
