I've been watching this show since the 80s. Today's show is so much easier. And probably on purpose to have more winners but man back in the 80's those clues were HARD!!!

7:18 The judges are awfully lax here compared to the older versions of the Pyramid. The answer was "Things you Are Afraid of (Fear)" and the person guessed "Things You're Scared of" -- and received credit! They didn't even guess the right word!

A lot of them say one word in a phrase and are given credit for it. " Cities in California" when the answer is "Things in California" is not the same. There are so many more. That's not the way I remember it. It used to be harder

I was going to say the same thing. Came here after watching a '78 episode. People were also much smarter then with more complicated clues. But yeah, you don't just say "igloo" for "Things an igloo would say" and get credit in the old version, for example.

No... The category was Words with 'X' in them... The $25 000 Pyramid has the same type of ruling with UCLA for Universities/Colleges. You cannot list anything in the category Words with 'X' and not promently use 'X' as the clue

How could saying "X-ray" not have been an illegal clue for the subject "Things that have an X in them"? That should've been illegal and that contestant should've lost imo

Those kinds of categories are literally the only ones where you have free reign. It just has to fit the category. I know people will say Dick Clark's version has extra rules but I'm just focusing on this version for now. I don't know why you even make that a category.

I think he just got his game shows confused and incorrectly said "Price is Right" instead of "Wheel of Fortune." The celebrity guessing the category correctly anyway further proves my hypothesis that the celebs are given the answers ahead of time.

@@BobbyBaylor Game shows can legally be rigged, as long as the contestants, including celebrity ones, as well as, depending on the game show, the host and announcer, are NOT in on it. Also, the contestants, including celebrity ones, cannot be related to anyone connected with that game show. So chances are, it was a lucky guess.

The winner circle rules sure are more relaxed than on dick clarks pyramids IMHO. There have been a number of times i think a clue would have been buzzed in dick clarks version that are let go now. Descriptive clues not a list and synonyms for instance. I havent watched many episodes and i do like strahan as host(anyone better than donny osmond), but i also cant see him running out and saying wait wait wait, if bells start going off and he knows its going to come back cause of illegal clue. Or i cant see michael in a situation like the "things that are mounted" clue in clarks version.

At 10:10 to 10:15, whether that contestant knew it or not, Vanna White was a contestant on The Price is Right back in 1980. Sadly, she never made it out of Contestants Row. But the bottom line is, his partner got it.

I'll have to disagree with you a little. There was one episode where it came to the last subject which was "Things That Change Colors." The female celebrity (I don't remember her name but she looks like Tina Fey's twin only with darker hair) said to her female partner, "Come on, girl!" and she couldn't think of a thing to save her life. She was stumped yet I'm sitting at home watching and the only things I could think of were a chameleon and a prism. There also the "Quiz Show Scandals." They'd probably never get away with it.
