    To be fair, the doggos in Bloodstained also can be construed as a darker take on the Chain Chomps from the Mario games, as they’re clearly staked there to guard the area they’re in, and if you annoy them enough while being out of range of them being able to lunge at you, they’ll eventually pull their stake out of the ground and chase you freely around the level under you deal with them.

    I'm trying to think about weird enemies and I keep going to FF7. They had some really trippy monsters. The Motorcycle that has arms and drives itself. The Nesting dolls that if you damage releases a smaller angrier doll. The man with a guillotine for legs is probably the weirdest encounter period in that game. You can literally knock him off the chain he is swinging from and he can't do anything until he gets back on, actually kind of sad.

  • @Alloveck

    @Alloveck

    2 жыл бұрын

    The thing about Blasphemous is that as weird and messed up as the enemies are, they all kind of make sense in the context of the story due to the Miracle. Why the Miracle decided that some guy needed to be split in half vertically and then throw razor cross-erangs I have no idea, but the Miracle at least explains why enemies like that exist at all. The random enemy designs in FFVII, on the other hand, don't really fit into the main story or have any internal explanation at all, which makes them feel relatively weirder. They're weird even in their own game.

    Rokkaku Goji from jet set radio future! I have no idea how a story about street gangs and graffiti turned into a story about an interdimensional robot attempting to brainwash Tokyo. In fact, Goji is just portrayed as a snobby businessman for the entire game until the very end. I'm not sure how he became a robot, i'm not sure who built him, I'm not sure how he was able to construct his own pocket dimension inside his tower, and i'm not sure why he would spend time worrying about street gangs if his ultimate goal was mind control, but that was the final boss.

    Final bosses in Square Enix titles tend to get pretty trippy, even if they're 'understandable' enemies like "depressed bird" or "literally god" or "man who really should've just gone to therapy" or something along those lines, but they're perhaps a little too expected to be weird. Heck, maybe FF12's "just some super buff dude" final boss might fit better here? He merges with a god-like-being to get super buff but he doesn't have any wings or tentacles or anything, he's just super buff and shirtless. Oh and Goobous in the FFXI and FFXIV? They're pretty goofy looking, Namazu are also technically an enemy in 14.

    Wow I was not prepared to hear someone mention IllBleed! Was such an obscure title I found at a local gamestore many many years ago. I never beat it because the game is so difficult to manage playing.But im proud to own it lmao

    I was hoping to see something, like literally anything, from the Frost Moon in Terraria in this video. It's such a bizarre, intense, and fun concept for there to be a night where the moon has a snowman face, which unleashes all the Christmas-related terrors the north pole has to offer. There's elves in attack helicopters, the traditional Christmas monster "krampus", a monstrous evergreen tree that shoots fire and ornaments, and even a giant tank with Santa Claus' likeness, which gets its face ripped off once it's taken some damage.

    Illbleed is probably one of, if not the strangest game I've ever played. It's not the most user friendly, and it does take a bit to get ahold of how the game plays. Once you do though, it's a bizarrely good time! It's a satirical run through through many horror tropes. The demonic Sonic The Hedgehog thing...I can't even begin to explain that or pretty much any of what happens in that section of the game! Also really glad to see the surprise of House Benevietio on the list! Definitely a straight outta Silent Hill moment! That whole section does psychological horror VERY well. The puzzles are directly tied to Ethan's fears about Mia. Plus, the place is dripping with atmosphere! I expected some creepy atmosphere and maybe a couple of trippy moments. What I did not expect, was the sound of some fetus abomination crawling towards me from the other end of a dark hallway! I heard something and kept inching closer just out of curiosity...and then I saw it! You gotta realize too that I played VILLage for the first time alone, in the dark, with the volume cranked. Scared the piss out of me! Which is not easy to do to me these days lemme tell ya! A great moment that, while not the most RE thing ever, does go to show that Capcom can do psychological horror well if they want to! An absolute standout section of the game, as well as the franchise!

    YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND This video helped me solve a 15 year old mystery. I played a game during my childhood and the only thing I remembered was the final boss's cutscene. After 15 years, and a team of people who have been helping me search for the game, this video provided all the information I needed. It was Morpheous, from Resident Evil: Dead Aim Dude, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

    If there is a part two, I have two suggestions. The empousa and the elephantaur/juggernaut from God of War: Ascension. The empousa (or how ever the hell it’s spelled) is basically the Greek version of vampires

    All I got to say is if you've never personally played the game illbleed you 1000% need to. It's not a very long game and it's really really trippy but I'm telling you it's an experience you will never forget in a good way. It's like watching some of those '80s and 90s campy horror films except you're in the driver's seat. Lol
