I still think Fat Lip is a great song, sure it might have some cringey lyrics but they don't really ruin the song for me. I think the way the drums compliment the vocal melody in the chorus is so extremely energizing and catchy. I also like the the second half of the verses when it changes into a Pop-punk beat. Although I never really liked the rap parts either, but i do think that they help increase the impact when the punk part comes in because of the contrast between the two

Fat lip is an absolute masterpiece besides the rapping parts but those aren’t even that bad, it was 2001 nothing of that style was played out yet

Juxhin Deliu That's exactly it though, music does a lot of different things, it doesn't have to be innovative. A lot of great music wasn't even slightly innovative, early Beatles material was well trod territory when it came out, they just did it justice. Pop music is just easy to pick on.

@LegoGuy87 I can't because "I'm not a perfect person"🤣
Not gonna lie, I unironically love it's been awhile, and Fatlip. Douche Rock and Pop Punk personified.
It's crazy how The Offspring can have both my least favorite song by them (Why Don't You Get a Job) and my favorite song by them (The Kids Aren't Alright) on the same album.
I honestly kind of love Coal Chamber's cover of Shock The Monkey by how brazenly cringey it is. It's such a bad idea that it shoots the moon and becomes oddly fun to listen to.
"It's Been Awhile" is a unique song for a 'nu metal' band to put out because it is a very subtle and mature song. But I gotta be honest... Staind's music leans more towards alternative rock than nu metal, and I don't think that's a particularly earth-shattering statement.

Knight Wing - Listen to their album Tormented. It’s basically nu-metal imo.
Lil Bow Wow - Basketball Simple Plan - Addicted to You Soulja Boy - Superman
fat lip was a tune
Just hearing the words Click Click Boom made me want to draft a formal statement apologizing for who I was as a teenager.
That speculation about Get a Job and Obla-di Obla-da is sooo clever!
I wish Staind didn't hit it big. That music isn't so bad when it's not played to death, even if it's extremely melodramatic and unfortunately their popularity inspired a spate of "whine rock". I always hated "Click Click Boom" and all of the shitty rap rock garbage that came out at that time. When Anthrax did it with Public Enemy it was pretty good, and there's some bands that didn't get any recognition back then that were actually talented, but the Kid Rocks and the Limp Bizkits I couldn't stand even at the peak of their popularity. Godsmack.....they've actually got a few decent songs, but that band is probably the most unoriginal thing to ever exist. Their band name is the name of a song of the much more talented and innovative band they copied.

This. Staind's first album and most of Dysfunction were pretty good and I will defend Mudshovel as being a good single that goes fucking hard. Too bad they inspired so much fucking awful music with It's Been Awhile.
I bet Melon was all about that click click boom back in the day.
Happy new years Jhonny :-)
“Where Do You Go” remains a 90s guilty pleasure for me. I just can’t bring myself to hate it.

After seeing the sendup of that Godsmack chorus, will you please re-enact some bits from Sling Blade? Also, nominating Lit with "My Own Worst Enemy".
It's been a while and click click boom is amazing. I love godsmack ,but whatever is pretty funny
