10 Worst Songs of My Adolescence Pt. 1
Музыка
A few years back, I made a handful of guest videos for a channel that has since been rebranded and unlisted its older content. I've got permission to re-upload the vids, so for now here's the most requested one. You guys just really want to see me relive horrible musical memories from my youth. Or maybe it's all about that haircut.
The songs (look them up at your own discretion):
Papa Roach - Last Resort
Sugar Ray - Fly
Will Smith - Wild Wild West
Puddle of Mudd - She Hates Me
Everlast - What It's Like
Disturbed - The Sickness
LFO - Summer Girls
Cherry Poppin' Daddies - Zoot Suit Riot
Baha Men - Who Let the Dogs Out
Lou Bega - Mambo No. 5

@Seth Belfort No. First, i don't hate them, as i think i made clear. Second, it's not because they're modern, it's because they sound like Led Zeppelin, LZ might have copied songs, but they have their own style, Plant has his own singing style, Page's guitar playing is also iconic as hell, and so on. Greta literally imitate the voice, the instruments, everything, they don't have their own sound, they sound like LZ, and that's why i really don't listen to them, LZ is better, so I'd rather listen to them

One of my favorite Johnny Rotten exchanges - "You're bringing back swing music, are you?" Rotten asked Brian Setzer. "All we need now is a world war." While the rocker mumbled a response, Rotten produced a gift. "It's a calendar," he said, "to remind you what year it is."
> Late 20's boi you overestimate us. I'm only 21 mane, almost all of these songs were a part of my childhood, but I found them in a different way. XxBryanxX hell yeah it's a great tune! I love the beat and the acoustic guitars. I don't think it's that cheesy at all. Interesting how Fantano thinks the use of strings in that song is cheesy yet it's always brilliant in Radiohead songs... and don't get me wrong I'm a hardcore Radiohead fan.. I'm just saying Fantano is pretty bias sometimes. He knitpicks very small criticisms on certain bands but will turn around and praise another band for the same exact thing

I loved "Fly" (without the adlibs), and "What Its Like" of Everlast. I respect your opinion anyways. Thank you for bring me curiosity to listen to those songs (I don't think I will listen to LFO or O Town anyways haha). Great video, greetings.
From what I've heard, "Summer Girls" was unfinished when it was leaked onto a Boston radio station and somehow became a hit. It would have gone nowhere if they had finished it, but it was pretty much an accidental novelty tune.
Always a pleasure
I've heard of hats being too small to fit but I've never seen a haircut that was too small to fit.
your channel is great mr melon man, keep it up and congratulations, great content
Wild Wild West was probably the first rap song I ever heard as a kid, my dad worked on the movie so he always played it and I loved the video and song bc I was a child
"Fly" still puts a smile on my face. It might be a guilty pleasure, but I really have a hard time hating any of those 90s ska/reggae pop tunes, even "All Star," as over-played as that was...and is. Those songs just capture a snapshot of carefree youth for me, my enjoyment of them will always be impervious to any criticism, even the valid criticism in this video. I usually take music very seriously as a music fan and musician. Songs like "Fly" give me a chance to let go of that for a bit

Exactly! It's like the songs knew they were cheesy and just didn't care, so I don't care either and just enjoy them for what they are, giant nostalgia bombs that are still fun to this day. :)

The worst song of my adolscence is your haircut.
"If you're like me you're....in your late twenties..." Ohhhh Fantano, you are truly a funny guy. I'm enjoying my late twenties too.
I agree about Mambo No.5. that shit is disrespectful to REAL Mambo. Real Mambo has more organization in the composure and is danceable as hell (just like with Salsa/Latin Jazz)
As someone who survived child abuse from an abusive mother. I have no issue with Down with the Sickness. It's about fighting back and defending yourself. I agree it's a bit hamfisted. If it wasn't on the radio in that form. I don't see the problem. Generally songs I listened to as a teenager were ones which made me feel like fighting, like I could have some power. If I listened to this as a teenager, I probably would have been into it. I never actually realised how good the other lyrics actually are. They describe very well when you start seeing that you're not powerless anymore, that you can defend yourself, that it's not your fault.

And that’s the thing, you’re welcome to disagree with the music critic, he’s just giving his opinion. You have a very good reason to like the song. Your review is very thoughtful and personal.

@@skitty449 Of course :) It's all subjective after all. I don't even particularly like the song, I just don't think the lyrics are bad in any way.

I really liked how the last chord he played on guitar still sustains after there's a visual cut, good touch
"Meme Machine has a special place in my heart because it was on the Road Rash 64 soundtrack" Which timeline are you from and how do I get there?
The fact that the first time I heard Stevie Wonder's "I wish," and immediately thought "Isn't this Wild Wild West," is really depressing. I'm so sorry I disrespected you Stevie

I mostly bypassed the 1990's mainstream but I'm Gen X, so my list for the 1980's would include (in no order): Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar In Me Buju Banton - Boom Bye Bye Milli Vanilli - Girl You Know It's True Europe - The Final Countdown Celine Dion - Une Colombe Nathalie Simard - La Danse Des Canards, french version of The Tweets - The Birdie Song The Pursuit Of Happiness - I'm An Adult Now Frazier Chorus - Anarchy In The UK Lionel Richie - Hello Warrant - Cherry Pie Martine St. Clair - Ce Soir L'Amour Est Dans Tes Yeux I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton.
That disturbed bridge is the very essence of the band, the raw emotion triggered by trauma. It’s comforting

Thank god they changed their style. They're way more melodic now and their songs aren't just weird Draiman screams.

Wild wild west OST is a masterpiece compared to the movie.
One time as a child, I drowned one of my siblings cabbage patch dolls in an aquarium I filled with squand (remember squand?). as a result, it's hair came out in patchy clumps and it bore a bizarre resemblance to mr. Fantano's current coiffure

what a WEIRD song . that guy had some S T Deeeeeeeeeeees
The thing with many of these is I grew up with them when I was in primary school and early middle school and didn't really understand English yet, so the lyrics mostly passed me by. It's glorious to be a kid from an non-english-speaking country and growing up babbling along to The Bad Touch on the radio.
You absolutely nailed the classic Will Smith rap 'ahaHAH-haHA'
It's Trapt - Headstrong you bloody melon
Anthony you shouldn´t have said that you disliked the black prisoners singing gospel songs while in a chain gang, just because they were too loud when you were looking over them in the melon fields.

CPD actually started out as a really interesting band. Their first album, which came out in 1990, was IMO a really bold take on punk ideals and was concieved as something of a Meat Puppets-esque take on multiple genres - punk, swing, ska, metal, funk, etc. Its a really unique album for those willing to delve into their back catalog. Unfortunely, ZSR really solidifed their status as a meme level Smashmouth type band, and while I agree with your opinion on ZSR, I really back their first.
came back to this series and forgot about this haircut really pushing my hardest to keep rewatching these
I love you so much. You have no clue about the impact you’ve had on my life and getting me through tough times. Hope to thank you in person one day.
