In this video I try the most expensive markers, Copic Ciao and compare them to some of the cheapest markers I could find online. I got this idea from watching a lot of Jazz, Kasey Golden, Gawx and Adcartattack. The cheap markers worked actually better than I expected for this drawing and the painting. I think both of the artworks turned out pretty well in the end.

yes, definitely a huge difference. To be fair, the price difference is insane as well :D for 10 dollars I think they did well

The 10$ markers you used are similar to the once I got. Thankfully I don't use them very often and stick to regular color pencils.

I feel like a lot of them are actually the same and just get rebranded from different companies 😅 its cool that you use colored pencils, personally I hate them so much 😁

Yea this has been my experience with the cheap set of markers too. At first they come out fine but if you try to add in the details it literally starts to wane on the paper material and sometimes nearly destroy it I’ve always loved copic but it’s just so expensive all the time that I had to retire from buying them as frequently as I did back in the day. Art gets hella expensive y’all lol

Yeah definitely Art can be an expensive hobby 😅 I think a middle way of medium priced markers is a good solution than

Personally both seem really good to me but just like you said the cheap markers destroy the paper and that’s just something I don’t like with a lot of markers-

Totally agree, that was the most surprising thing to me as well. It kinda sucks since I thought the markers aren’t that bad at all

That's because they are water based markers and not alchol based

Dude those cheap marker you used are not alchol based, they're water based which is why the paper was fraying like that.

Yeah you’re right, I guess all of those super cheap ones are waterbased though

@@modauth You can always tell when trying to layer, also pro trip try using a different colour when adding tones and shadows but do not over 3 layers since 3 is pushing it.

Oh, cool you are doing a comparison video! I really like your video editing! It makes the video a lot of fun to watch. It also looks like a cool illustration you made to colour! And your commentary is fun to listen to! I'm definitely a fan of using copics. It's also nice you can change the nibs. Even if they aren't worn out you can just customize the type of nib on either end. So the fine nib can replace the chisel nib for smaller detail! I also like being able to just buy replacement ink and not needing to replace the marker itself. I've always been interested in markers that have a fine liner tip and a brush tip! Haven't tried one yet. The cheaper ones remind me of tombow markers, but more saturated. I've only tried a few Tombow brush markers, and that was before I tried copics (they also weren't available in my area yet so the Tombow's were the only brush markers available at the time). But those were only brush nibs. The cheap markers do look pretty good though! Thanks for sharing your opinions and making this fun video!

Thank you for your comment, was a pleasure reading it. 🙌 I love the Tombow black pen. I should definitely try their markers as well

@@modauth you're welcome! I definitely want to try a black brush pen sometime! I'm used to doing line art digitally to use pen pressure, so maybe brush pens can give me a similar result
