10 (UNEXPECTED) Signs of Bipolar Disorder Depression

SUPPORT WHAT WE DO & CONTACT ME DIRECTLY HERE: Patreon: / polarwarriors
If you live with Bipolar Disorder like I do, you're probably familiar with the typical signs of depression... things like feeling hopeless, losing interest in doing things, crying, isolating, fatigue, low mood, trouble concentrating, worrying, fear... We're all familiar with these right?
Today I'd like to explore some “other” signs of depression. The unexpected ones. Symptoms which are often misinterpreted as someone being in a bad mood or having some kind of personality flaw. I think this video will help us - and our loved ones - to have a greater understanding of these symptoms - should they manifest.

One day, I was completely overweight. 260 5’8 tall, depressed and had stayed home for 2 years not taking to anyone. I remember going for a run one day, and thinking “why tf am I even doing this pointless shit?” Then it dawned on me. When you have bpd, even the things you enjoy are pointless. There’s no reason to think about it anymore. Do things “because” they’re pointless, I started running 1 mile, then 3, then I’d do 3 more, then went on to doing marathons. Running turns off my brain, and hurts me. Both things I want for myself when I’m depressed. Go run your ass off, I promise it won’t be for nothing

Hi Rob! Here from New Jersey and I can’t thank you enough for your videos! I’ve known my SO since I was 15, we were BEST friends my whole life and for the past 10 years. About 2 years ago things started changing and I KNOW him so well I knew something was not right. Turns out after he gets the girl of his dreams apparently (me) and a family of his own…our fairy tale turned into a bi polar nightmare. I’m so grateful for your videos because they are truly helping me make sense of ALOT that didn’t make any sense at all. I can’t express how much that means and helps me currently!! Thank you a million times for your amazing videos! ❤ With things like the videos to help us gain knowledge I’m hoping we can make it through another 10 years.! Hope your well!!

Jacksonville Florida. I've been following this channel for about a year now and am so grateful that you do these, thank you! I'm 57, was diagnosed in my early 30s... which explained so much about the behaviors I'd been experiencing my entire life before the diagnosis; my family and friends always rolled their eyes and made fun of my "moods" or blatantly told me to "get over it! Enough with your moods! Man up" This video especially hit home for me; I am in and have been in the exact irritable/angry space you describe for over a year now, I know what the trigger was, and do my best to calm myself... but it's fucking exhausting. As so many others have said, just knowing I'm not the only one is a great relief!!

@@AlJihAdIGuY They know when they are severely depressed and unable to be well in their lives. These people have often lived with the critical judgements of family members, friends and employers for decades. Many have learned to believe that they are - for example, reckless, thoughtless, uncaring, irresponsible, chaotic personalities - long before any consultation with a doctor or psychiatrist, and accurate diagnosis. /Just as your own physical and mental state can fluctuate across your life - so it does the same for a person living with BP. But - the fluctuations and triggers may be more extreme for them, and more challenging to manage. /When you look at historical records, all the 'varieties' of human being can be located. BP is but one of these versions. These people are represented amongst the talented, heroic, inventive and famous names - just as much as any other.

Washington State here. I seem to be most in denial about the depressive side of BPD I deal with if I am able to get out if bed, but this reminds me there is so much more to it and I need to broaden my idea and definition of a depressive episode. That helps me be less hard on myself, so often when I am behaving with some or all of these symptoms, I feel it's a moral failing... This reminds me I am dealing with something bigger than me and be gentler with myself. Thank you so much for this channel. 😊

I am from South Africa. I am so grateful to have found your wonderful videos very recently. My belief was I had been incorrectly diagnosed. Your videos have convinced me I was wrong. The meds are a life long commitment and so are keeping in touch with my feelings and moods. I was diagnosed at the ripe old age of 65 which is nine years ago. It surfaced after a new relationship with a narcissist. The wheels came off totally, including an attempted suicide. There is no white washing only complete honesty from you. Thank you Rob for making me feel less of a pariah. I have lost the respect of my family, but fortunately have a few supportive friends.

Hello Rob! I'm from Brunei but I'm currently living in Japan. For most of my life I was misdiagnosed with clinical depression but when I moved to Japan, that was when I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and it makes A LOT of sense.😺

The infamous “clinical depression”… hate those words. 5 years wasted trying to treat that what I did not have and making worse the unbalance of my bipolar disorder. During those years I destroyed my finances, made some very time and energy consuming engagement towards people I do not want to disappoint which ruins my self daily and most of all I thoroughly destroyed my mariage with the love of my life. By the time I was medicated and realized all that it was 2 years later and there was no way back. Misdiagnosis is one of the worst things about this disease.

Lately I have been feeling like a burden towards everyone around me. It’s really hard to manage this diagnosis while on bed rest for 3 months.. I hurts when I seek for help or express myself, I get judge on the diagnosis. It brings me so down that I feel worthless at times. I can’t stress this enough the people you’re surrounded with can either make it worse or help you for better. I thank you for this video. We are not alone! I hope we manage it so well we forget we ever had it, so we can become to best version for ourselves ❤

I'm so glad that I have JUST found your channel. I live in Tasmania Australia. I'm 56. At 30, I was wrongly diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder with Generalised Anxiety Disorder. After seeing the same psychiatrist for the past 12 years, just 2 weeks ago, he diagnosed me with type TWO bipolar and generalised anxiety disorder. I'm currently in a bipolar depression and only leave the house if I MUST. I get everything delivered to my house. I have 4 adult married son's and 7 Grandchildren. I don't get very much hypomania but absolutely LOVE it when I do. It devastates me when I crash again and YES I always attract narcissistic men who gaslight me. I wish I could just go off to sleep and not wake up. I have trouble GETTING to sleep but then sleep for HOURS. I also sleep for about 4 hours every afternoon. When I have hypomania, I only sleep for about 4 hours in a whole day and wake up feeling on top of the Earth !! This lifelong illness just SUCKS 💔

Hi Rob, I haven't commented on your videos yet, but since I came across your channel a few weeks ago I've listened to some of them here and there. I think through watching your videos I can now realize that perhaps I've been afflicted with Bipolar. I may never be able to get a diagnosis, but that's alright. Just the knowledge of that and admitting to myself that I have this is enough for me to take precautions. In a way, I already have been adapting to it for a long time, just not always in the most healthy of ways. I have my own routine that allows me to function in what I call a middle zone. Anyway, I meant to comment on this video simply to say thank you for your videos and for making this channel. I appreciate it and it has helped.

Hey, Rob! I noticed that physical pain as a manifectation of depression too... whenever I'm depressed I have such a significant lower back pain that I went to check my kindeys and spine and nothing was found, I'm absolutely healthy, but suffering all the time... I searched for these symptoms on reddit/bipolar and a lot of guys have it too... My bipolar mom had huuuuuge headaches and was treated for all kinds of neuro conditions, and was never treated for bipolar depression, she spent 30 years untreated. Only when I got diagnosed she was too. I decided to start my own channel about my struggles with bipolar. The first video is coming if I remain stable... Thank you for all the effort you put into these videos! They're a lot of help for me!

Started therapy over a year ago and we got through a lot of the trauma work just to realize I may have bipolar as well. Hi from Türkiye. I was diagnosed with major depression and over 10 years I got medication and therapy but it didn’t helped me. Also when I felt great I cut the meds and therapy and I got worse every year. Finally I met my current doctor and she suggested that I might have bd because of my some behaviours that depressed people don’t have. I’m taking my antidepresant as well as lithium. My lithium level is still low but I’m also having weekly thearpy with a psycologist. I feel better each day. I think correct diagnosis is the key. Love the videos thanks ☺️
