    1. Don't trust your thoughts, 99% of them aren't even your own, dissociate from your thoughts and associate with your body 2. Don't judge yourself and don't try to be other than what you are(while still aiming to become the best version of yourself), when you do that you resist your own truth 3. You are gifted, many with schizoid tendencies are abstract thinkers 4. Protect yourself from needing other people, set boundaries and be able to love yourself in solitude 5. Be alone in nature, but for its own sake without doing any particular activity 6. Limit exposure to information technology, because it can contribute to the dissociation from your body 7. Stay away from drugs, including alcohol for the same reasons as above 8. Eat protein and fat rich foods, to feed your body and to ground yourself 9. Focus on your bodily sensations, mindfulness 10.     @Anthony Okeiyi I recommend you to make a plan. A short term (weekly) and a long term plan (months - year - 10 years), this will allow you to disconnect from the environment (messages, youtube videos, etc.) and focus only on your goals. In this way you gain more control of yourself by creating your own path and building character, as you complete these goals. The thinking mind is a tool to achieve your problems and goals. Most of the time overthinking takes place when you have nothing to do. The thinking mind is a machine of constant problem solving, and finds any problem (real or made up) to try and solve it, and it will never get to the solution. So use the mind when you actually need it. Other thing that helps to shutoff the mind is by breathing, concentrate on your breathing for a time and the thoughts will disappear eventually. I also recommend you the book called: The 7 habits of highly efective people, by Stephen Covey

    sooo true man - aka 'neurotic thinking' which can be incredibly destructive. Choose constructive thoughts as much as possible. ask yourself simply, "Does this thought help or hurt me?" And simply disregard it if it does not help you. Self-love and esteem is another aspect of this, but truly at the core of everything here.

    Anthony Okeiyi well from my personal experience it can be done by perpetually talking yourself into it. For many years I have been reminding myself that it doesn’t matter what others think and telling myself IDGAF. Nowadays, I can still slip up a bit, but most of the times I genuinely don’t give a fuck even in potentially very embarrassing situations. Yesterday, I also came across subliminal youtube videos. I believe it will have even greater effect on self-affirmations like this one. I wish I found that shit earlier. Hope I have been of help bro :) go get ‘em

    RebelliousDevelopment I’ve always gone by the saying that if you’re not pissing someone off, you’re not standing up for yourself... and everything else you value. People are real assholes and you need to learn to deal with that. If you don’t live your life and have fun, piss some people off, then what was the point of your life in the first place? People seem to care so much about what others think of themselves that they’ve became so caught up in the idea of what others judge them by, that they’re not living their lives because they’re afraid of being judged too harshly by others. You can’t be everyone’s friend. Go be someone’s enemy. But don’t ever be the enemy of a friendly person. If you can, always try to make friends with people and find common ground with them until they can’t find common ground with you, because some people can’t agree to disagree on certain subjects and opinions. Also, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve found that life isn’t about acting mature. It’s about being yourself.

    Living by myself helped me to get over anxiety, depression, loathing, and it is how I am going to try and live for awhile. I don't do well with living with others because I end up developing a routine to work around others, instead of doing things when I want to. That little change in my everyday life has made me make more confident decisions in the rest of my life. Elliot has helped me now more recently than he ever has because now I am confident in myself and ready to face the truth and filter out things I don't agree and not blindly following someone who is telling me what works for them. I remember the fact that you would be objective as much as possible without pushing your ego onto your words, and I appreciated that fact alot. I lost you and went through my own journey, disconnected myself from social media all together, suffered alot, went through some bs and now I'm back as an adult.     Never been diagnosed so spot on in my life. Appreciate the brave question and in true Elliot fashion the stoic advice. Such a valued teacher and mentor. I'm 31 years old and i have been dealing with those same issues for as long as I could remember. I am going to implement these steps in my life as well because I desperately need a change.     I have this kind of personality, schizoid, tall, skinny, analytical mind, artistic, creative, sensitive, living more in my mind than in body which sometimes is a great advantage and sometimes it is a great course. All what you have said in this video is true and the advice you give is what really helps. Some authors that I can recommend, apart from already mentioned Alexander Lowen are R.D. Laing - "Divided Self", Alan Watts and Colin Wilson.

    I've gotta say, everything Elliot said is true. This is coming from someone who is also empath. We are easily influenced by outside energies and if we cant get a hold on our energy and barriers, we can easily lose ourselves. I went through a phase a couple years ago where I completely lost sight of who I was and where I was going. It took some cutting ties, eliminating social media, being alone, and bonding with nature for me to find myself. Now I can handle the energies of others accordingly without it disrupting my own. It really is a gift. My advice is to be kind to yourself and to explore your mind and body.

    Just thought i’d drop by and say that this video and the advice within it single handedly got me through quarantine and i find myself coming back to it all the time. At the time i found this video i had just graduated from high school and was aimless and struggling heavily with anxiety and dissociation. This was amplified during quarantine due to the isolation with nothing other than screens and my own thoughts. I don’t have everything figured out yet but I am in a much better place now and i understand and accept myself more and this video was a key part of that. Thank you so much Elliot for all that you do, I could never repay you for the advice and knowledge i got from this video and so many others.

    Your caller reminds me a lot of how I was in my early 20s. It was when I was 27 I probably first liked myself and it all changed. I'm 59 married two great sons in their 20s.     The main drive of my anxiety was this feeling that i was wasting my life, that i was left behind by everyone, that i had some fundamental issue with myself that scared everyone away from me and that i was forced to be with people that hated me but this ironically made me become judgemental and antisocial and a shut in.

I have been a medically licensed Physician Assistant for twenty years and currently work as a Hospitalist Physician Assistant in Washington, D.C. I have provided medical services for so MANY men who have THIS man's experience. There is a HIGH rate of severe trauma young boys go through (war, violence, drugs, sexual abuse, etc.).     This is so accurate, I suffer from a lot of anxiety, I notice that when I'm by myself, in nature, personally I love the beach, I get so grounded to the point I completely forget the anxiety issues, I didnt know why it worked but it works, I'm also very creative, do music and video production, I think my main issue is believing my thoughts, they keep coming and I keep fearing them, I have to remind myself that they are 99% false. Elliot is definitely on point. Thanks a lot. I'll definitely read the book 🙏🏽

    My parents are Bosnian too, fled to the USA. When I started listening to you 5 years ago I bought Alexander Lowens books. "The language of the body" was by far his most useful hook to me. I was dumbstruck as to how well he describe my character structure, namely being the schizoid. The phrase "Frozen in terror" applied to me quite literally. I found a Licensed Massage Therapist and began working on my musculature. Every week on Tuesday she'd do Deep Tissue work on me. It was very expensive yet I saw massive results. Slowly I began feeling my body and feeling the emotions that were once inhibited. As I started feeling more and more I realized the majority of the options I feel are extremely negative and painful aka greif, despair, terror, deep sadness. I realized I moved into the Masochist Character structure. But I am having trouble overcoming the Masochist. The negative emotions are overwhelming and I am hopeless to discharge them out of my body. I cannot seem to fscr them. Sorry for the long story but does anyone have advice in dealing with overwhelming powerful painful emotions? They are crushed down and I dare not face them.

    Wow, this guy's story sounds a lot like mine. I always had anxiety since I can remember (predate kindergarten). The lesson that has helped me is being friends with my anxiety. Don't run from it, it will come back as a tsunami. Understand it, why it comes and goes, what triggers it, learn to love it, appreciate it. Every relationship that is meaningful has sacrifices. The relationship with anxiety is also meaningful. Understand all of what anxiety has given to you, and understand all it has taken from you. Though it is not anxiety that has taken from you, it is you yourself. Anyway, I wanted to say thanks, Elliott. This whole masculine and feminine shit had been fucking with me. I started to find information on masculine vs feminine energy and finally been able to relax without confusion. This was one of the things that helped me understand myself, and my insecurities better, which overall lead to purposeful confrontation with my anxiety.

    Thank you so so so much for this. My entire life I have lived with the thoughts you described. I have moments where I recognize I am extremely gifted, but my home (mind) is filled with bad thoughts that tell me the opposite. I am trying so hard to overcome my demonic thoughts and finally become the person I am capable of being. May the Lord bless you all on your journey- and give us the strength. God Bless you!

    I relate to this very much. When I was 15 i for the first time experienced panic and shame/embarrassment over what i have accomplished over my life and this lead to anxiety. I would get nervous but this feeling was very different. It was a dread and extreme fear of what i appeared as to the world and i developed this inadequacy due to my lack of friends and bullying. Its the worst feeling ever and it only goes away when i am around loved ones or very old friends that i knew before these feelings existed.

    I found this awesome technique where you lay down or sit, and stop breathing till your lungs start taking small breaths on their own. Then you keep tryna just let them do without assisting the breath. The more you watch it, it seems like you wanna crawl out of your skin at moments-but if you sit through that feeling, that feeling turns into the stillness you’re channeling. Then after about 20 minutes, you feel like you’ve woken up from a dream. I did this for 2 hours and i felt completely better body and mind as one for weeks after a couple days

    Betrayal of the body by Alexander Lowen. He has another book with a similar title called denial of the true self. Thanks for the recommendation. Seems like the guy has a unique way of explaining things. I think there’s a lot of value to be found in the book, especially for those feeling detached, alone, or lost.

    I feel this guy from Norway. I’m also Croatian from Bosnia. Had the same fortune. I’m a big guy. Tall and buff. Many people ask me how I’m so open, able to talk to everybody and keep a conversation, but I’m often anxious about myself. Like I’m not good enough. According to everybody I’m a hell of a guy. But in my mind I’m a little guy who just want attention (parents were working 24/7/365 to be able to afford my brother and me a good life in Germany). Thanks for your words. I’ll stay strong and become what I am already

    yo Elliott ! super useful video! Would be nice if you could make one from your experience with exercise anxiety ( if u had this kinda anxiety) ! i begun exercising some months ago and sometimes when i push myself doing insanity workouts i have a high heart rate even after i finish the workout, and the shit makes me panic.. a general sense of anxiety that is crushing. hope you'll see this man ! big ups to what u do man💪💪💪💪

    Great video Elliot hope this guy gets in right path soon. Its weird how mind works because whenever i find in my head which only been suffering with mentally for few years now, i try and meditate which everyone says is one of best exercises to ground you, it causes me to overthink even more. Does anyone else get this as id love to be able stop my overthinking and not react to it when it comes around, but feel meditation just prolongs the process.

    The wast majority of adult issues leads back to early childhood, newborns and sometimes even in the state of a fetus. What helps according to psycologists is to work back in memory as far as you can and find the root of the issue. Accept the fact that it happened, forgive to whom you have to forgive and close the issue for good. In the meantime just do what you have to do, such as setting up a business. Do it, learn (also from mistakes) and make decisions. Mistakes we all do anyway. Normally I don't take TV series or movies as lessons, but in the green arrow I've caught two things, when Oliver said that he was barely anytime sure of his decisions to work out, but he just did it. The other is when Slade Wilson said: Assumption is the mother of all failures.
