Great advice, and spot on! I opened my first freight brokerage almost 12 years ago and am grateful to have had good guidance and advice. I'll add that I also met with my Small Business Administration's representative before I discussed anything with my CPA or my attorney. I made the migration to broker from a 15 year career as a Landstar agent. One of the best decisions I've ever made. Thank you for helping others understand the importance of laying a good foundation (personal credit is KEY!)

I have the capital and got my education to be a licensed broker from Calstate where did you find your guidance/ counselors / etc?

I wouldn’t say a $3,000 bond is bad. I pay $815 quarterly for my BMC-84, because yes my credit is not great, but I easily make that quarterly. Hell, I can make that in one day.

@@adonijahtaylor547 every goods based business is a potential client, cold calling is a necessary evil…it helps if you research the company, and make sure you’re an upstanding businessman who understands communicating the good and bad goes a long way. LLC, BMC-84, and then cold calling or warm calling if you already know someone.

Just as a heads up, listening to this channel, I now pay $1500 for my bond. Prestige International in Florida, and I now have 300K contingent cargo insurance for $800, which allowed me to become a FEMA approved transportation provider. Again, Prestige International...ask for Jimmy.

I love that you throw out there that getting a loan as a Freight Broker is not needed. I heard you say that 3 years ago an I took your advice. I stashed an saved an waited. I have been building Dee Dee Logistics LLC for 2 1/2 years an did NOT need a loan to do it. I am at the point where I'm ready to move loads an awaiting the FMCSA to authorize me. That is great advice. I knew if I did that I would instantly be in the hole an that's not a good look. Thank you for posting these videos for us 😁

I started a box truck business Kingdom Driven LLC, things slowed down and I went from 4 trucks to 1 truck, had to deactivate my MC because couldn't afford to keep paying insurance. Still have the connects, but no trucks to run, so looking to get in on the brokerage side? Any advice?

a trucking company can have dual authority...or get a separate broker authority.....advantages and disadvantages either way...would advise talking with truckers with dual athority..
