When you watched Pride, it felt more as a "sport" than UFC at that time. The ring, the Pride theme song, the venues, the politeness of the crowd (ie. the crowd doesn't boo during a submission attempt), etc.

@@rodolfoortega1069 Soccer kicks can be defended like any other strike. There's nothing magical about them. I'd prefer less rules in general, but I at least understand the terrible optics of head stomps. Knees to grounded opponents would also be nice. Give a new avenue for wrestlers for fighting, so that they aren't just 'those guys that stall and don't do anything,' and give everyone else means of punishing wrestlers for bad takedown attempts.

Individual Entrances with the lighting and choice of music made the walk outs unique unlike the static UFC one. Fedor's "Enae Volare Mezzo" with the rising walkway and lighting is still the BEST EVER.

For me I prefer Pride's rules on the rounds: first round 10 minutes (brutal) and for the second round 5 minutes. It gave us a lot more finishes. The worst thing was the ropes: they offered a better spectator view but they had people falling out of them or using them to cheat. (Not everyone will agree with this)

The problem with a ten minute first round is that a lot of fighters gassed out, leading to really boring second rounds if the fight wasn't finished in the first. Also, ten minutes of straight grappling can be kinda boring when it comes to wrestler v wrestler matches, which Pride had a lot of.

The entrances were something that got me glued on the TV, all that fireworks, some fighters came using crazy costumes, all that hype walking on that platform that lead to the ring... Maaaaan, that was THE show for me, it was like something that came out of a videogame or something, and it was an interesting way to simpatize with a fighter; the UFC doesn't give a shit to walk ins, hell, even put ads on it, kinda breaks the ice for me, everytime in a big fight I expect to see some flashy walkout and shit, but almost all the times, it is just basic, wish we could have this back.

From how i always view it , Pride was basicaly real/shoot version of pro wrestling(with some exeptences like worked Takada fights) , so it had presents of pro wrestling : cool music , awesome walkouts , big man vs little man , etc. - all acolites of wrestling , while Danas UFC was mostly moddeled by boxing , sins Dana was boxing promouter before mma , and not a big fan of flashy "wrestling style" showmanship - so basicaly its compleatly 2 different psycologys behind both products(well at least how i always thoutgh about it), and farther more , lets not forget that mma was born from pro wrestling in Japan so its only natural to have those atrebutes (early versions of mma like pancrase even had rope breaks)
