I’ve literally been researching this myself over the last week 😂 my conclusion is only one necklace at a time and not more than 2 bracelets on each wrist and only one ring on each hand ONLY on the ring finger. Chunky rings look kinda masculine. Huge stones are almost as bad as huge logos, and watches often look masculine, you don’t need one imo. Also: pearls 😍

There is a time in life where elegance matters more than trends. I've spent most of my life on a farm... It's not a place for elegant shoes... Just getting off the property without ruining nice things is a feat! You can be edgy, and you can be elegant. Depends on where your going and what you're doing.
My foot doctor recommended Birkenstock and they have changed my life; alleviating a lot of foot and knee pain. I can no longer wear skinny heels for the same reason. Victoria Beckham has said she's only allowed to wear heels on special occasions because they have destroyed her feet; it's why you see her now in a lot of trainers and even has a line with Reebok.

Finally someone says it (❤️ from italy) . Style Is about lines and the harmony of It all. Clothing is a rich culture that some brands try to make it their own, you don't have to be rich to be stylish. Elegance Is in the culture, if you can have clean clothes and take care of your hygiene you can walk proudly and with elegance. :-* I've seen rich people looking terrible with their expensive clothes. Clothing is a form of respect towards others and the situation you are in, in Europe we could never go to the supermarket or in university (!!!) in pijama not because we are pretentious but because we find it disrespectful.

Anna, thank you for giving an honest appraisal of your feet. Often people refuse us our own realistic view of our bodies - as if it's a sin to be straightforward, honest and accepting of "non-perfection"! You reviewed your own feet but didn't reject them. Your acceptance of your features as they are helps you to choose items that are flattering to you. It's the best lesson for all of us. Wear what feels good. Try an item that you're attracted to but are "too shy" or "too _____" once in awhile for fun - and if that feels good then take another risk. Our clothes ought to be enjoyed. Cheers!

She seems awfully uptight about having "big feet" or "big calves" or looking short by having her legs "cut off" by different styles. So not really self-acceptance. I'm glad I wasn't very old before I decided I could use my own judgement and need for comfort and practicality over some "styling expert" to tell me what to wear. She didn't show one shoe to me that I would wear.
@bitrudder3792
Жыл бұрын
@@argusfleibeit1165 - Just curious. Do you consider yourself to be “elegant?” That isn't everyone's goal, or main goal, or daily goal. It's a choice, and she occasionally mentions that items that look elegant one one person doesn't look as good on the next (like how she didn't look as good in some of Kate Middleton's elegant items). People can choose to look focus on looking natural, edgy, chic/nonchalant, on trend, dramatic, etc. Comfort needs can trump style preferences. It's all a choice. Anna advises on her interpretation of elegance within her world, and she has grown in her understanding (like how using the colors most compatible with your innate coloring and contrast adds elegance). I expect to see her expand on and refine her advice over time, as she values ongoing education. She makes a solid point in this video, one to notice if you haven't done so before: visual horizontal lines, like those created by ankle straps (Especially in a contrasting color or value), literally changes how long your vertical line looks. Some people have never thought of looking for that. They can see in the video exactly what that looks like. So they can take that lesson When they go shopping and see whether or not an outfit or a shoe appears to do that to them. They can expand it, maybe picking a dark shoe and dark sunglasses to balance contrast without interrupting a light colored outfit between them, for example. Or, they can do the simple thing and find nude shoes to wear with other kinds of outfits. Now, if you want to look spunky and playful, that might not be a strategy you want to employ. And that’s fine. You understand the principal and you might choose to break up your line horizontally a lot to achieve that.

Instead of the dainty pair of ballet flats, I would have demonstrated a pair of loafers to get the same effect in perhaps more flattering way.

@@ashleydamjanac1835 The whole point of more masculine styles is for people ( like me) who dont want to look like a prissy princess, but does like feminine clothing. Thats why they are so great. If you match lug soles, or more manly shoes with flow dresses you end up looking balanced and chic. Also, in my opinion more tiny shoes make my legs look squat.
Old walking boots are the most practical shoe for everyday wear. Mine have holes in them so I can't rely on them to keep water out but the soles and everything else are still good, so I can take a shortcut across uncertain terrain whenever I wish without worrying about my feet.
Makes a lot of sense! I love your tips! For the square toe- I find that if you have thin feet then it works. But even me having thin feet I cant’ wear the super square toe one, I generally would choose a small rounded square toe one like the hermes for example. There should not be too much space for your toes to go in, otherwise it looks like a mess. ❤

I love the square toe; it's the only point I take issue with. Anything cramped or pointy can actually make my middle toes seize up. One day after work, I got into my car and the toes of both feet cramped up. I had to sit in a panic for 10 minutes waiting for it to go away so I could drive home. Now all I want is comfortable shoes 🙂

I can completely relate to all of this. I have been wearing a US Size 11 / Euro 41 or 42 since I was 11 years old. I also have a narrow foot so it is hard to find my size. When I do, I tend to get them all (I also went to private school for 12 years & wore a uniform & I pretty much dress this way ever since to the office or out). Shoes have always been a painful subject for me. I never want to get anything that will make my foot look bigger or longer than it already is. I laughed at the "shark shoe" because my mother took me to an orthopedic shoe store when I was 11 & got almost this same shoe in the mid 1970s. All that said, pick the best quality you can afford even if not designer or luxury - you have to be kind to your feet. I am very lucky in a way that my mother worked when most women did not (she was "Depression Era" & had me later in life), she worked in New York City, she knew what to wear, what not to wear, what not to wear on your feet especially. I may not have grown up with money but she never skimped on my shoes & stressed this when I started working to save for the purse but buy the GOOD SHOES now. If you take good care of them (use a shoe cobbler to fix at end of season) & not follow trends, you will have them for many years. Thank you for sharing this important information, Anna.

I have bunions and my Birkenstocks are my favorite sandals for this reason. They are so comfortable, supportive, and yes- masculine. However, I think they look cool with relaxed attire and much better than many "orthopedic" styles. I also enjoy hiking and camping and they are great for the outdoors, along with Chacos (which are also not elegant). When it comes to dressing nice to go out and what-not, I definitely agree with all of the other shoe advice in this video!
My grandma would be thrilled with her videos, she's such a grandma 🧓😅

I like using more chunky boots but with jeans, and I agree depending on your legs it might not look good!

Anna, i love your sense of humor! And finally someone to say that the same type of footwear does not suit everyone.

The shoe comparison needs to be comparable; Birkenstocks are worn for their support so your recommendation would need to feature the reason those shoes are chosen. Many women, men do not appreciate shoes which are not based on comfort even if fashionable. Loafers and other flats are good options. Chunky heal/not depends on your foot health, body physiology and long-term health goals. Foot, posture health is more important than fashion. Good basic pumps are the best and some with a bit more elevated look also useful. The subtitles cover your feet.

Agreed with the chunky loafers. They can been worn in a way that’s still classy and elegant. They’re ridiculously comfortable and make a look cohesive without sacrificing comfort.

She not even knows the meaning of the word comfort…. This is people who dresses to attract men… the annihilation of 120 years of women emancipation is here on this channel 😂
Im not usually looking for a elegant or very feminine look, I’m more on the cute and edgy side of things but I watched the video to the end and I’ve understood why despite wanting to be trendy I never liked most of the trendy shoes you showed us as not elegant haha, guess I might have some of an elegant part in my personal style then. Thank you for the video
Anna, I always enjoy your videos. But this one I have enjoyed specially because of how honestly you put yourself out there. I showed it to my twelve year old daughter to make a point on how every lady has her flaws but we can still try to look out best and love our bodies. Many thanks from Argentina 😘
Your balance while showing these shoes is so great. You still look elegant showing them even if they're not elegant shoes on their own.☺️
Anna could we get an elegant winter shoe video? I live in a place that gets a lot of show and while I completely agree with you on shoes that are thick and clunky it’s hard not to for thick snowy winters

It’s due to your Kibbe type that masculine does not work well for you. However for flamboyant gamine, the masculine and edgy has the opposite effect. It really depends on body type, as you say. “Classy” or elegant is too narrow a definition with so many different body types :) I love your choices for you, I also love the masculine for me ❤
Okay so here’s the thing about chunky loafers. I live in an old European city. It’s covered in uneven cobblestones and it’s got small hills and staircases all over. I’ve ruined two pairs of regular Clark’s loafers trying to walk around cities like these. They’re just not sturdy enough, they’re too delicate. I bought a pair of chunky loafers last weekend and I can already tell that I’ll actually be able to wear them around, and they offer a lovely cushion and support. I got them in a light blue suede and the chunky part is beige; they’re elegant in my opinion, and they’re actually practical for my location
I love the approach to this video! I've never been a fan of videos where we're just told what doesn't look good. I love the "Here's what I don't recommend - but here's a better option" format. I hope you will consider this format for any other videos you do on "what not to wear." It's much more helpful like this!

Hey dear how are you…..?😊😊
Omg. I kinda LOVE the first look: Birks w/a flowy midi skirt and tank 🤷🏾♀️ If you were going to a farmers market, all you need is a wide-brim straw hat lol. Sooooo cute!!! Come on… don’t tell me you didn’t secretly like it
This video is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I love that you explain that it might be in style for now but not elegant. elegance is timeless!!
I agree with the multi-strap/ubiquitous strap and square-toe heel trend. I have thick legs so I do not wear ankle-strap shoes at all and have my heels and boots custom-made. But I also wear lug-sole boots and don't care about what people think. If you know your body and how to work with your proportions then you'll create balance every single time.
Love that you are actually showing us what to wear instead! Examples are great.
Thank you for explaining the espadrilles! I bought them and couldn't work out why they looked funny! They can only be worn with a long dress! You cracked the code anna! Great video
I wasn’t sure about the title of this video at first, but she does have good tips😂. I’m always impressed Anna by your advice!
Thank you, Anna! It was so much fun and educational to watch. Two thumbs up! Great content as always.
Thank heavens for someone else seeing that the latest shoe fashions are wild. I have to admit that I love my gladiator sandals. I get away with it because I have long legs and am tall, also because I fall in to the flamboyant elegance class. So I do feel that there are nuances here. I think the trick here is that you wear these type of shoes if you are tall with long legs and that you were them as the statement element of your outfit. I am always sure to wear them with a plain dress and very minimal jewellery so that the shoes are the only striking part of the outfit.
Loving the warmer hair colour, Anna; it suits you well. Thank you for making this video; I was shocked whilst shopping on the NM website recently; who is purchasing these shoes? I’d love to know 🤣
Was about to order those PVC zara heels. I love how it elongates feet and goes with just any cloth
Have you ever seen a “worse’r” combo than this?😂 ANNA!😂❤ Don’t say worser!😂❤️
A winter version would be wonderful and helpful. I try to wear more dresses and skirts in winter but with the right shoes I always have difficulties. thanks 🥰
Thank you so much for making this video. I’m about to go through my entire closet and get rid of stuff that is outdated or no longer suits me. I have three whole bins full of sandals, boots and pumps. I’m 4’ foot 10”, I never would even think that some of my shoes might be making me look a lot shorter. I just went shopping online. I bought a really nice pair I espadrilles that were on sale. I can wear in the summertime as they go with a few really pretty maxi dresses I already have. This video is definitely going to help me simplify my wardrobe.. Thank you Anna..
Anna, your non-elegant shoe walk had me laughing so much; the humor in it speaks volumes, no need for further explanation! 😂
I absolutely love the chunky loafers! They rock
Be yourself and that's elegant ✨
I was just looking at clear shoes on Shoedazzle again and it was so much easier to say no to them this time, because I knew I wasn't crazy for the suspicions I had about them. Thank you for confirming my instinct and saving me money, Anna!
This video was in my recommendations, and i finally found what my mom wanted from me. So, no, thanks, there’s no way i would care about other people’s opinion on my shoes and how do i look, but rather i will keep wearing my basketball shoes😭
Great video! As a guy I can say that I hope lots of women listen to your advice. Re gladiator sandals: only about 10% of them look good to me: the ones that have at least a 3 inch stiletto heel & the straps aren't too wide & don't cover up too much of the foot. Otherwise just wear a boot!
Imagine wearing shoes because they're comfortable and you like the way they look

You can wear whatever you want but that doesn’t mean it will be elegant, which is the point of the video
When you brought the pvc heal I wanted to die laughter. I no longer have those. They must have grown legs.
I dont like shoe shopping because i always thought that there is no right shoe that fits my legs but this is a great guide for when i go shoe shopping again ill know what to buy now
Unfortunately, main of these solutions match for narrow feets. I’m probably not the only one that have wider feets and cannot use loafers slip-ons and pointed heels/flats. Have someone tips maybe ? 😢
I agree with the last shoes, flats with a pointy toe looks awful on anyone and it makes your feet look super long and clownish.
I took a screenshot for the first shoe I remembered I have always wanted such a comfortable shoe 😅 the one with two strips
One of my most loved video! Thank you, Anna) You opened my eyes, I didn’t notice all those problems with shoes before.
So thankful to see I’m not going (too) crazy, ha. The wide square shoe reminds me of a platypus and I simply cannot un-see it + clear shoes start to quickly resemble sweat tinted saran/cling wrap😣 Also- your evolution is POWERFUL! You’ve softened even more deeply to a compassionate, ultra feminine woman.
I was wondering if you have any suggestions for women who are no longer able to wear spiked heels or pumps because of problem feet, and still maintain the look of elegance? I just came across your videos and I want to say how refreshing it is to find someone who is passionate about teaching women how to be a lady with grace and elegance.❤
Being classy or elegant isn't just about personal preferences, dear... It's about your entire demeanor. Most of these designs aren't inherently wrong, the real issue lies in how you perceive them... And it seems you talking about you don't like them but how can you decide for others.. True confidence comes from within, from your inner qualities, your personality, and the gratitude you carry... Ultimately, it's how you carry yourself, how you speak, how you treat others, and your body language that truly defines classiness & elgeance...
I actually love gladiator option on Anna instead of grandma pums. it does look beautiful for the evening, her husband got excellent taste.

Agreed. Also, because of the skin showing inbetween the stripes and this indentation at the top part, they did not visually cut the leg at all. But to avoid the eventual sausage foot effect, I'd opt for ones made with softer materials. Like suede leather, or slightly flexible fabric. Much more comfortable/wearable as well.
I just moved to Texas from the Netherlands and am kind of lost when it comes to elegant fashion because of it. Some of these shoes are very popular here, thanks for helping me stay on the right path! I recently started KZread too so looking good is extra important to me now!
it depends often on your work demands and your body statute and medical issues, whether you can wear this or that , and I also find Birkenstock bulky but they have adjusted foot bed and no any other replacement got it yet, only if some sneakers, but with some medical foot issues it is not possible to wear closed shoe, only if 2-3 sizes bigger as your usual size...

This video is about shoes that look elegant and is not about shoes that help if you have foot problems.
Anna, I Love how clearly you explain about the details 🧡🧡🧡
Even though my own style is more casual most of the time, I still like videos like this that can help me know how to achieve a more elegant look when that's what I want.
All the shoes that you don’t recommend are highly popular in Germany. Not very feminine country regarding woman’s fashion. Many women are going for this boyish, unisex look or even androgynous look. I myself sometimes use elements of this style, but in a very mild and always balanced with feminine elements look.

Yes!! It is crazy! Even when they are wearing a dress or skirt it is always something bulky on the feet. They just need to break it somehow.
This is the first time in my life that I watch a video laughing so much of someone’s opinion about how to look “elegant” 😂😂😅
I am here with you! Everywhere i go the stores are pushing these god awful styles that most ppl shouldn't even be wearing.
