I put my dreams on hold for my last relationship and it didn’t work out. Now I’m chasing my dreams and I’m much happier alone with my freedom of choice. Doing photography with women I have a hard time finding a partner who won’t be insecure. It’s a gift and a curse.

Seeing how we live in times that seem negative or always at odds with our beliefs, being single helped me build myself back up finding new friends with similar interests and beliefs, stoicism being the reason to keep pushing forward despite times of hardship and during challenges, now times are less challenging and the stepping stones plenty, and the best part are my friends,my family and this community are there to bring the best out in me in these hard times, thank you stoic journal

*Choosing to stay single can be a powerful act of self-love and wisdom. Embracing solitude allows you to focus on personal growth, inner peace, and your true passions. Great people often stay single because they understand the value of independence and the importance of building a fulfilling life on their own terms. Remember, your worth is not defined by your relationship status, but by the strength and joy you cultivate within yourself. I've heard so many men I know say the expression, "Happy wife, happy life." Or when asked if they want to do something, "Let me check with my wife first." I thought, "My God, how do you live your life like that?

@ronnie_5150 Wemon, do it too they just don't say that phrase. It is normal in relationships. When you decide to share a life with someone, you no longer can just do what you want. You have to compromise with your partner. It goes both ways. If she is not happy, she will leave. If you're not happy, you will leave. So when you hear a guy say "happy wife happy life," he really is just saying, "dude, this is how much I love my wife"

@@peterlk3276 Disagree. That expression means, "I need to keep my wife happy to keep the peace. If SHE'S not happy then I won't be." The MAN needs to compromise, not the woman. I know men like this. That makes you a bitch. The secret to be married to one woman your whole life? Do what your told. No thanks.

Im a stoic philosophy nerd and this sounds like horse crap. Sounds like someone who has never been in a relationship. This person he is discribing sounds like a man who is consumed by his ego. A true stoic has no problems finding relationships if they desire one. Because a true stoic is open and humble and will not compare people with themselves and come to the conclusion that they are too good for most people. 😂

@stoickingdom2024 This is just my interpretation, so take it with a grain of salt.Emotions are an essential part of being human. Stoicism doesn't teach us to suppress emotions but to avoid letting them control our lives. There's a big difference. In relationships, relying solely on logic is unrealistic. You can't plan your love life like a trip to Disneyland. Eventually, you fall in love, and logic takes a backseat. Love involves mutual desires and compromise. As people grow and change, so must the relationship, especially when kids are involved. Believing you can always have your way or that neither you nor your partner will change is egotistical. Ego is a Stoic's worst enemy.
