I have also recently learned a couple of things one, if someone no longer wants to be in your life, let them go you will soon find out that they did you a very big favor. Focus on you you’re not lost you may have now just been found. Keep your head up start your day with a smile be thankful take care of you, none of us need the toxic venom that others inject in us age is just a number. In fact, you are well seasoned. You are important take care of yourself.

For 66 years, I have felt vulnerable around people because I lack these 12 socially attractive habits and I'm not sure I want to develop these traits. People's unkind words, criticisms, judgements, gossip of others, sarcasms, etc., make me feel like retreating back to my natural introverted and reclusive life "style". Home is my refuge. It's where I can be alone and be my true self. It's where I don't have to feel unworthy or be tempted to compare myself with others. Why should I be concerned about people's opinions of me when I don't intend to "fit in" or ask for their approval or experience their condescension, i.e., a former co-worker told me, out of the blue and in all earnestness, that the reason she thought I was unattractive is because of my soft facial features--I lacked a chiseled face or sharp cheek bones. I didn't respond to her and went back to focusing on work (so at least I succeeded at silence and stillness). What was I supposed to do about her comment? Should I get a facelift? Should I wear a paper bag over my head and be like the unknown comic? I was born this way. Has anyone heard, "Beware of the silent types because they tend to be passive aggressive"? I was labeled that because I didn't have anything to say or have the desire to add to the gossip going on around me. I feel happiest when I avoid involvement with people. I can observe them safely from a distance.

Great content. The term 'interface' comes to mind when I ponder this Stoic teaching. We interface with other people in a reflective, assertive manner, all modulated by our inner virtual reality, so our existence is mostly an energy dance. Stoicism has provided me practical tools conducive to me dancing with purpose and even grace.
