After going through these a few times I was hearing what everyone else seems to be hearing. Chris Buck and Pete Thorn both have that special sauce in their playing. It's the dynamics and their ability to fluidly connect the notes like a singers voice. It's quite unbelievable. At this level all of these players are tremendous and I love to hear the ideas they all bring to the table.

The Pete, Thorne, and Chris Buck solos just had a little something to them that grabbed my ear… The last eight bars of both solos sounded different than everybody else’s… I don’t think it’s a coincidence that people are picking out those two particular tracks

I love Tim’s “cockpit” gear room. Just enough room for his guitar neck, every knob, button, fader literally an arms length away. It’s cool to see how different and unique every persons music space is.

Chris Buck's solo is just genius. Extremely complex yet natural and simple at the same time. Kudos.

Pete Thorn was the best for me, it really highlight the theme of the track for me personally and he made it quite exotic with the notes he choose to represent, the ending part was most spectacular and brings about the song completely.

Chris Buck's playing was mind-blowing: beautiful dynamics, finger-picked and that first phrase is not impossible to play but you could spend hours trying to make it sound as good.

I love how Chris Buck is just playing a new Yamaha into a Helix into a laptop and has some of the sweetest tones imaginable. Goes to show I should get back to working on my playing instead of lusting for expensive and rare gear all the time.

But for someone who has to save all his money for months to be able to purchase a fairly normal, but good enough pedal, it feels a bit harsh to call all this stuff a cheap solution for a great sound. But I’m not at all surprised that you can get some great tones out of that, especially when you can play like Chris. There’s absolutely a lot of truth in what they always say that sound is in your fingers. 😊

Chris Buck always kills it. He knows how to make his solo sing in an emotional, dynamic way like no other! All the solos were great! Well done!!

Chris Buck does "Friday Fretworks" most every week. He is on the ball in his style of presentation. He is not only a KZreadr putting up a show every week, but is also a touring musician. Chris Buck is in a league all his own!

Over a year after first hearing this, the tune still randomly pops into my head from time to time. And it's always Chris Buck's solo I hear in my mind's ear!! Good work to all those involved. Peace :)

Thorn & Buck’s solos and especially how they both resolved the end were amazing

Just came across this and loved it! Fantastic to see all these amazing players not only doing their thing but breaking down how they went around about it. Thank you Paul!

I guess Chris Buck just won a few thousand more followers. That was incredible

He does it wrong. It's a whole step bend with a whole step slide into a rapid step and a half bend He does the whole step bend then slides the 2 and half step instead.

Awesome video! Loved hearing all of the different takes. So many personalities coming thru the solos.

Each of the guys did a great job! Well done to all, and to PD too! 27:01 Love the fingerpicking and these seamless changes!

Chris Buck's was my favorite. He's got a great sense of feel and tone in his playing...

Chris Buck's solo made me stop thinking about guitar and just listen to the song itself in such a beautiful way... the guy defines the term magic

1.7 million views, Paul, you and all the collaborators, are definitely doing something right. Brilliant, each and every solo.

This was outstanding. Great to hear the different approaches and thought process behind.

I like how Chris does THAT and then thinks “I don’t know. Maybe one more take” before he realizes that the third take was sheer perfection.

I rewatched now like 100 times Chris Buck's rendition! It makes me want to learn to play the guitar like him, and to be able to have that Yamaha guitar also, it`s amazing! And the others, whom I also watch and follow, they are beatiful in their own way, but this solo, man,... that SOLO it is the natural theme or colors or dynamics to be played if it was released as a song to the masses!

All such talented musicians... Chris Buck is ridiculous...the man is incapable of playing a bad note...really enjoyed this!

That Chris Buck take makes me want to cry - so lyrical, so beautiful. Just stunning. Loved Thorn and Larson too...

For me it was Buck, Thorn and Larson as well. Each of them brought something unexpected but very musical to the track and had very good, very polished tone.

Chris Buck is a genius. Don't think I've ever head as much delicacy of playing squashed into 8 bars. Brilliant video throughout, very interesting.

Danish Pete x Dutch Paul is not the duo we deserve, but the duo we need! Also, I love these videos, so inspiring, not even 8am and I'm ready to pick my guitar up and practice!

I've seen the back of Danish Pete's head at Andertons and Paul at a John Mayer concert, so I feel like I basically know them now. Not sure how this is related to your comment. Pretty terrible story, sorry.

What an incredible group of players! I was moved by all of them. And it is interesting to see the commonality of their solos, despite differences in their styles. Thanks for a fun video Paul.

Pete Thorn and Chris Buck had the tastiest licks throughout, but twas all good (-:

I loved Pete Thorn but... Chris Buck... man, did he play hauntingly beautifully. Thanks.

Every one of these improvisations was super tasty and yet so distinct from the others - great job to all the players! I learned a ton from each player's description of how they approached the solo. Thanks, Paul, for creating this educational and entertaining challenge for all of us to enjoy. Inspirational.

That 1st solo brought tears to my eyes... it blowed me away!!!

Would love to hear Guthrie Govan's take on this.

Pete Thornes solo was beautiful! That chordal phrase was divine.

I especially loved your stab at Chris Buck's opening phrase. You totally hit the notes and then said, "I don't know, it just doesn't sound the same." An honest, spontaneous reveal about Chris that places you in good company. I so appreciate your collab offerings. I'm learning quite a lot, but, let me add, I don't know, it just doesn't sound the same. :)

Chris Buck is my favorite every time. Not like the rest weren’t amazing. They are! He has that BB king thing going on with the ability to say a lot with one note, then he has the ability to say one thing with a lot of bends and chords. The guy is the most tasteful player I’ve ever heard.

Chris Buck's playing is just sublime. Definitely the stand out piece of all of them

I thoroughly enjoyed watching that, thank you. Such a neat experiment to see different people's artistic take. They were all incredible!!!

This was a treat on every level. The improve, the players, their personalities, your riff. Thank you Paul for bringing us so many great players. I couldn't put this down!

@@olafnelsonduerksen9676 calling someone the greatest does not diminish the value of others. It merely sets rank :) As a guy who might be lucky to be in the top 50% of all guitar players (but probably in the bottom 25%), it doesn't hurt my feelings to know my inferiority to other players. It doesn't change the value of my playing at all. It just means you will probably never see my name on Billboard ;)

Chris buck not only left Paul Davids speechless, but when Paul tried to play it he LITERALLY THREW IN THE TOWEL and said “it just doesn’t sound the same.” I’m a guitarist and now I know why you are envious of him @Paul Davids. Absolutely beautiful playing

Oh Lord! This is a brilliant video! The choices of guitar, signal chain, tone, etc is so fun to watch. But the real amazing fun is the choices each player makes. The mind, heart, and hands make each unique and special! This made my day! Thank you!!
