I honestly think that most AAA games are pretty static nowadays. You'd think that destruction would've evolved until now but games like Red Faction Guerrilla or Battlefield Bad Company 2 are still pretty unique despite their age.

@losthiker7007

Agreed. It’s an amazing game with ridiculously accurate physics. Exploring the solar system is amazing and then you have the fact that so much changes over time, so what you might be able to do say in the first 5 minutes you can’t in the second 5 minutes or vice versa. Truly a great game and extremely underrated in my opinion.

I literally watched this because I want to see if Outer Wilds is in it but I wasn't really expecting it since I don't remember this channel ever covering about Outer Wilds. In fact, I might have watched a few of this channel's video hoping to see Outer Wilds 😆 To be fair, physics in Outer Wilds might not be flashy enough to be included. It's part of the core of the game instead of a "feature" that stands out. Many players might notice more the "difficult/complicated" flying/traversing than saying "oh I like the physics" 😄
@PartytimeYOLO

i hate to disagree, since the game is amazing. but...... the 2 or 3 (if you count quantum), physics interactions are fairly simple. gravity, or inverse if you are in water, and the ball mechanisms. quantum is more of a grey area, "if not observed; move/teleport". most would argue thats just mechanics, instead of physics since its not exactly interacting with anything. the sands on the ash twins, maybe, but thats just one ball shrinking, and another growing, with the material set to sand. but that doesn't change, the main 2 factors in the game being gravity and time.

surprised that Portal 2 didn't make this list. Crazy physics in that game especially for its old age
I feel like Falcon put a little extra love into this one. Some of the games he mentioned are really niche and incredibly impressive.
Control, Beam NG and Red Faction: Guerilla have some pretty cool destruction physics. I also think the physics still hold up pretty well in GTA IV.
I’d give a mention to Crash N’ Burn. Its basically the game Burnout tried to copy and made a worse version of. Basically a racing/demolition derby type game, with surprisingly good car customizations, and fantastic destruction physics! But not only that, it is OLD, like early OG xbox/PS2 era. When you go that far back, destruction and physics in general is usually quite lacking, but not in Crash N’ Burn. Physics was the main selling feature! There might be one or two games older than it that might have somewhat comparable physics, but it’d be hella close. Basically the grandfather of car destruction.
Being able to destroy the environment is so underrated
Battle field 4 is a great example of realistic physics, the way you can destroy thing and they will just crumble is always cathartic for me, especially the huge tower that you can blow up that covers the map in dust after it falls.

It's very difficult to do gore and a huge amount of work, every single bit of damage that you see in Doom is a specific model they had to create and seamlessly integrate during gameplay on every single enemy etc.
The first Red Faction was the best one. You could mine almost eternity in the terrain on the maps. You could did insanely long tunnels or blow up large terrain bridges. The later games focused more on building demolition and not terrain destruction. Something that made the first game awesome.

Control's destruction is incredibly satisfying! It's so fun when there's debris flying all over the place in a chaotic battle.
I'd love to see a video on games with the best cloth physics. Not enough people praise cloth physics when they're great and so it feels like developers have kinda just done the bare minimum in alot of games nowadays.
One old goodie that should be mentioned is Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason. Survival horror before that genre was even brought to the surface. Back then absolutely balls to the walls physics as it was PhysX techdemo for liquid physics and it's beautiful in that. Also just the mechanics around cold and warm are so well done it is a shame it got medicore reviews and never even got any cult following even.
You should have mentioned " The Finals ". Top notched FPS Physics.

That Besiege would be such a good game in VR (in a MOSS kind of setup). Making the machines with your hands! I can see that getting incredibly addictive. Also, I’m getting this game anyway, never heard of it, looks ace, thanks.
snow runner is the funnest driving game i’ve ever played. the mods and realism of the physics is what makes snow runner one of the best out there. the size of the game too is insane.
Teardown for anyone interested is completely moddable so you could download infinite amounts of maps and download a lightsaber mod and destroy at your will. It's not as restrictive as it seemed in the bonus portion.
Can't believe this video did not mention the finals, the destruction physics in that game seem to be extremely good from what I've seen.

Probably cuz it’s not officially out yet. Should’ve been an honorable mentions tho
I like how in Batman: Arkham Knight the batmobile can smash into cars, drive through some structures and I love to just watch them crumble.
Teardown is also neat for being programmed in an original game engine so it has it's own implementation of RTX that works on GTX cards.
Red Faction Guerrilla was such an amazing game back in the days! Could spend hours just destroying stuff!

The finals have alot of destructable environment in a multiplayer scene. it's pretty impressive!
A good bonus entry should be Noita which is a rogue like 2d game that has every single pixel in a sandbox simulation and its extremely difficult and challenging and fun too.
Hope such physics gets implemented more in upcoming games. Especially race ones
I'd like to humbly submit ScreamRide for honorable mention. Not only does it have fun destruction physics but fun rollercoaster physics.
