Today's episode caters to aspiring riders looking for their first cruiser style bike.We've compiled a list of some solid, classic cruisers under 750CC (both new and used) that are perfectly suited for beginners
Since your first bike is simple a stepping stone to something more powerful, you might not want to break the bank. Also, the potential that you end up dropping your first bike is fairly high. For that reason, some of these options have a really great price rag, while still being stylish and something you can be proud to ride.
THE YAMAHA V-STAR 250 & 650
The 250 is perfect for a smaller person, the 650 for someone bigger. The 250 might be small, but it has a 21 HP engine which is actually quite powerful for its size. The chrome details give the 250 a "big bike" look, and its approachable without lacking. It is suitable for commuting within city limits and is fuel efficient at a rating of 78 MPG (this indicates a range of 200 miles between fill-ups and would also be suitable for touring).
The Yamaha 250 can be bought used anywhere from 3-6k, and provides enough power to quench a beginner's thirst, but not enough that you'll get yourself in trouble.
THE HARLEY STREET 500
I know there are some die-hard Harley Davidson lovers out there, so for them we included Harley's "Budget Bike". To be honest, this bike lacks the attitude of a true Harley in terms of the sound it produces. It's not a big burly bike like most Harleys, and the sound of the exhaust won't really rattle your soul like Harleys typically do. It's more plain in comparison to other Harleys, not nearly as heavy, cheap parts, and a super basic dash. However, as a new learner, this bike is really light and easy to handle.
The Street 500 is fitted with a 494 CC liquid-cooled "Revolution X" V-Twin. The bike has more of an upright position opposed to the recline-chair- like position of most other cruisers. The controls are simple and well-laid out for a beginner to learn.
Truth be told, I unearthed a lot of hate for this bike online, and it has since been discontinued. I just couldn't help but include it for the newbies obsessed with the idea of a Harley.
THE HONDA REBEL 300 AND 500.
If you want to spend a little more, used you're ok with financing/these bikes are worthwhile. They're 6-speed fuel fuel injected, liquid cooled and come with or without abs.

THE SUZUKI BOULEVARD S40
Small, light, pretty low to the ground, extremely forgiving bike. Don't let the CCs fool you, it's still around the same size as any other 250 cruiser. As long as you're not too tall, this is a great bike.
The unique thing about this bike is that it's a 650 but also a single-cylinder 4-stroke (also referred to as a "thumper"). It might sound rough and not as refined because it's a single cylinder, but you might actually love that and it's still extremely fun to ride.
THE NIGHTHAWK CB450SC
Produced by Honda between 1982 and 1986, this bike is a total classic! Great first bike and it's easy to maintain (like most things Honda). it has a 4-stroke, twin cylinder, 3.7 gallon tank, does great with highway speeds, and weighs in between 450-475 pounds. It's forgiving, meaning that the controls are less sensitive. You can find this bike for as little as $600.
THE KAWASAKI VULCAN 650 S
They provide enough power for a beginner and experienced riders like, and incorporates sporty features actually derived from the Ninja 650 sports bike. The ergo-fit option from Kawasaki allows for the bike to be perfectly customized o your size
THE SHADOW 750
45 hp, liquid-cooled, carbureted v-twin engine, with a low centre of gravity that makes it an incredibly stable bike which handles easy around bends. Look for the Aero, Ace, Phantom, and Spirit on Kijiji.
