As someone from the States, Taskmaster can’t work here bc our comedians tend to be annoying instead of funny. The comedians on the British series are so funny and rarely annoying. I much prefer your comedians.

Because in previous lists like this they always mention it, i guess they thought they might talk about other series instead of some of the obvious ones, like the Inbetweeners and Skins US

I always thought Lewis Black would make a good US Taskmaster host. But then again, Chelsea Handler would be perfect.

If you're going to do a remake, your best chance is not with a good show, which you can only make worse; but with a bad show that you want to improve upon. Take a flop that had a decent premise and execute it better.

It's certainly the weakest TM I've ever seen. New Zealand, Australia, Norway and many other countries managed to adapted it perfectly, but the US naturally failed.

"Dad's Army" can NEVER be duplicated! It's a classic. I discovered it a couple years ago on Britbox US and never get tired of watching it.

Agreed and no offence to the US but the British script writing, especially in many comedy series is amazing! The clever use of English language, the culture that is shown and the fact that we are happy to laugh at ourselves is why it works!! You just have to look at how successful ‘Allo Allo!’ has been so many countries!!

I did not watch Broadchurch so Gracepoint was new to me. I thought Anna's character was weak and not suitable to be a detective. Overall it was a reasonable series

Yeah, I disagreed with that one too. It doesn't hold a candle to the original, but as a stand-alone show it was completely fine. Nothing to rave about but certainly not terrible.

The best remake of a British show, 'Shameless' USA. It was shockingly good and hilarious viewing.

I love Broadchurch and was watching it on *american tv* when Gracepoint happened. God forbid people watched the original on PBS. David Tennant is amazing but Gracepoint was too heavy for him to carry with his hands tied behind his back.

Gracepointless. But it didn't harm David Tennant's career, because he's just such a good actor, and especially because Broadchurch ran for three series, the second concluding the first story and a whole new, more horrible, more convoluted murder mystery in the third.

I'm neither a brit nor a us citizen, but always loved british comedy and storytelling. Every time the us tried to copy a uk series, movie or game it always feels like dumbed down. Like the writers think the collective iq of the audience dropped a whopping 50%. Unfortunately I felt the same about the chibnal doctor who aera. I love dw since I saw an epidode with christopher accleston and got hooked. Every doctor is different, but always smart, emotionally involved, but always ahead of the enemies. The 13th is always out of breath, always scared, always confused and too busy to appear... hip? We bought ever season on dvd but the Chibnal stuff is soooo hard to watch... didn't even made it through flux...

If the BBC would make it’s programming more accessible to American audiences, perhaps there’d be fewer remakes. The only BBC channel we get is BBC America, which is largely reruns of the various Star Trek series. Sell us what you make instead.

Two of my most hated remakes not mentioned, “Mistresses” and “Being Human”

Forgot how bad Nickleodeon Robot Wars was. Thank god for Battlebots

Thankfully I have never watched or heard of the U.S. remakes other then Gracepoint. And I only watched it because I loved Boardchruch and also that David Tennent was going to be in it.

Number one should have been the only fools and horses remake that leaked

The US Ghosts adaptation isn't too bad when you get past the first two episodes. They explore ideas that the UK never did like Sam (Alison) going to see if her mother's Ghost is still around to get closure. It was never going to surpass the original, but it's found its groove.

Not even close actually. The US doesn't rip them off, studios exchange things in deals, first off, second off, there wouldn't be US remakes if, A, the US got to see the originals, and B, if the UK versions weren't so stiff and rehearsed, and instead have good acting and felt real rather than a staged play.

That's the whole reason the US copies us so much, because it's different from what they know because ours actually is more real. America is most known for being fake. It's always copy and paste with everything. I can't stand most US stuff because of how fake it is. Silly over the top acting, sob stories and completely staged unrealistic "reality tv". Extreme makeover home edition comes to mind, you get a family living in a mansion and one back room has a bit of damp and then they are all fake (or real) crying to the camera, who can tell, about how someone has cancer or someone died or how someone broke a nail. It's completely out of touch with reality, we just wanted to see a home makeover ffs. Stop with the crying and sob stories on everything.

Surprised that you guys didn't list "Come Dine With Me US" which too place in NYC. I believed the first episode 'premiered' in 2012 at 11pm and the rest was shown at 1am. The narrator was unfunny and tried too hard. The contestants didn't vibe at all and was really bland.

Correction, Amazing American Remakes of Awful British Shows. So like, Ghosts, Being Human, the baking shows, the cooking shows, etc. You don't have to like it, but the US versions tend to have better actors, a more refined script, and just end up working better.

Lol you're really breaking down over this aren't you. Everything you say is opposite. Americans can barely act. Most of your remakes are flops. And like I just said on one of your other many many comments, it's all about fake crying and sob stories. And everything has to be over simplified for the American brain. America had it own robot wars, battlebots . Grant Imahara and Jamie Hyneman of mythbusters had diffrent robots in it . The nickelodeon version was unessecary
