We have been staying at the Gulf Breeze campground in St. Joseph Peninsula State Park for years. Both campgrounds and the cabins are on the island. The beginning of the video is where Eagle Harbor was. GB campground just north of it. I'm really going to miss this special place.

We started camping in the state park in 1982, and started renting a cabin in the park starting in 1986. It was the most beautiful place in the world back then, before the Cape got discovered by out of state "money people".

Very depressing and I know heart wrenching for all the property owners and fellow beach lovers. We visited friends staying at the yellow house at 2:34 in the video and had made plans to vacation on CSB next summer. After spending years vacationing at Grayton Beach at a family place that has since been sold, we were looking forward to the peace, beauty and tranquility of CSB. It reminded both my wife and I of the Florida beaches we grew up on in our youth.

It was only a few years ago that they were resurfacing that road where all that damage occurred that we can see in this video. That project lasted all winter long. A few years before that was when that rock storm wall near the stump hole was built but hurricane Michael was too much for that effort. I can't imagine how long it will take to reestablish utilities and infrastructure. Power lines are down, the road ripped up, water pipes ripped up. It's going to take years to design and rebuild all that was destroyed or can it happen quicker than that? And where will the money come from? The only thing I can think is that if you live there or if you have built there, you had to know that this destruction was a possibility...you had to know that, right? And you had to leave the Cape if you reside there year round. I hope that people living there were not foolish enough to try and weather the storm. It is, however, amazing and encouraging to see that most of the buildings held up very well and unscathed so it's evident that we actually know how to build structures that can withstand major storms. That's interesting. This video only covers about the first third of the residential area. Was it like this all the way down to the park gate?

FEMA does not offer Federal Flood Insurance on the cape, so, many people have no flood insurance, unless they could afford purchasing it from Lloyd's of London. A lot of people will be hurting, for sure.

It's no consolation to the people who were affected, but this was a lightly-populated area. A storm of this strength moving over an urban area will someday cause far more destruction and chaos.

Sorry about my comment defending nature over utter dominance and terrorism of these P. W. E.s, Programmed Weather Events matched up with God's credit rating concerns. I did not know about the secretive bears. Jen is fully disabled and we visit the most remote part of the park and don't leave, actually. So, bears that far away, seems far stranger than the dear, which we see up close each time we visit. Also, armadillos, snakes, butterflies, and moths. I am glad to see the bears are back. Thanks for that. But, I was not worried about them going completely extinct, like the deer, still, I fear.

I think Leo has missed something. They work so hard to help after the storm but miss one of the most destructive forces . the flood law it self .that so many times has destroyed so many live by stopping them from repairing there own home. not to mention how it devalues property. This is not legal for many reasons. It's strange to see Leo's many act's of bravery and valor and at the same time they Let a over throw of government to happen within the Gov itself. The right of ownership as a deed gives legal protection to said property . Leo seems in general have an issue with investigation when dealing with people in gov. above there pay grade. Over and over they go catatonic when confronted with the truth And don't use proper statute to govern the Government .For instance the Governor can run adds about using the smell test for food safety issues instead of using a mass gas spectrometer for hydrocarbons. I see it as reckless endangerment x 1000000. Or the past president to void the clean water act law by letting all that fracking fluid in the aquifer . Some call that domestic terrorism .And One cannot serve the Constitution and and a over throw of government too. Florida voted on if they should vote to change how they make policy during the bp spill and I think it is an overthrow when they voted to give them selves the power to infringe the Constitution by over reaching their limits of powers. My heart is broken as so many lives have been lossed to protect our Constitution as in WW2 . I have to live with that my father had one of the hardest duties of any soldier could have as he was a tail gunner . I have heard that 50,000 dead Japanese with incendiarys a night was the price for our freedom. So it's important that we don't allow any over throw of government as it means they died for nothing. The check and balance system needs revitalization And the proper use of statute is the tool to make it happen.

@@racrx7 If you did this, thank you, then. 23 seconds is all, and, I think most would want to see those beaches, if not the deer's habitat. Nevertheless, I am trying to get the word out about the Cog Mafia. 49 seconds of Dane Wigington about this weather event cud school a grade schooler. Why would we not want to know some basics? A W.E., a Weather Event once more, hardly natural, distributive laws of physics having some maintenance about them, why Fort Walton had nothing, for example .... I guess 49 seconds is an obvious point to make. There is to the more studious, the science of blowing holes in the ozone, never b4 achieved by a, so-called, hurricane, in no way natural, from The HAARP Report. It might help to design some resistance to the Cog Mafia, to 5G here, not yet in full swing, but, for the stock market storm coming this week, mark my words, this a time for appreciating the scope involved.

@Joshua Manning : After Hurricane Hugo in 1989, two barrier islands off of Charleston, SC, Sullivan's Island and the Isle of Palms were wiped out. The Federal government decided to buy out the homeowners and let the islands revert to nature. Then, in came the attorneys, who filed suit against the federal government, claiming the government was "depriving their clients of their property rights". Guess who won? The islands were built back bigger and better than before Hugo. They're just waiting for another hurricane. Then, they'll build back with even bigger houses. Same thing will happen here.
