I'd love to see the parts compared with the 1/650 TOS kit that was repopped by Round 2. 😊 I also think that the texturing may be a form of light diffusion for the LEDs. As you see for the clear bridge piece it is clear for the main window facing forward, buy textured "diffused" for the areas and windows around it. So it looks deliberate. This is one of the most anticipated kits in a long time. It looks just gorgeous! Can't wait for the lightning kit review. I'm especially interested to see the motors.

Let's see the new kit compared size-wise to the classic 1/635 scale AMT USS Enterprise kit.

I think I'm more inclined to use the lighting kit on a Revell TOS Enterprise...

@AllScaleTrek Preview Builds You should see if the 1/1000 Discovery is in scale with the original AMT Enterprise kit not the 1/1000 scale one. This kit seems more in scale with the original 1960's 18" kit.

Oh man this thing is beautiful. I had preordered the kit, but now I think I’m going to have to go all out with it with the detail sets. Great video!

Is the box of similar size like the older AMT boxes for the Movie enterprise, the D and B and C, etc?

This is really awesome. How did you get your kits early? I can't wait to see a build up. Thanks for sharing. The lighting kit is not too expensive but, it is not cheap either at $80. But, I am so looking forward to this model. They haven't produced the Aztec decals for it yet as they have for the 1:2500?

And rip-off pricing here in the uk - pre-order for £69.95 (on "sale" from £84.95)! Should be half that for a new kit. I bet the lighting kit will be about the same price...

The Aztec decals probably won't be available for purchase at the same time this kit is released. So, you will have to wait a month or two to start building this kit. I wish round 2 would release everything at once.

@@SeansModelBuilds yeah i know.. what i was saying when round 2 first reissued the 1/350 scale Enterprise refit the Aztecs decals came with the kit for free now that they reissued it again you have to buy the Aztecs decals separately now🤷🏽

That's the way the ship is. Give a close look in the later season 2 episode where the Discovery crew is transferred over to the Enterprise. And yes, the decals are fine enough that they conform pretty well over the raised details.

Yup, on the original ship the pennants aren't just sprayed on, they are actual raised hull sections.

$30 for the tiny 1/2500 or $50 for the 1/1000, hmmm which is more value?

Would like to know the diameter of the nacelles so I can add my own bussard lighting. It looks to be about 15mm diameter?

to my embarrassment I don't have anything metric near by. The inside seems to be about 7/8 of an inch at it's widest, and about two thirds down the nacelle it's down to 5/8

The matting on the clear parts is for diffusion

The texture on the clear parts will better refract the light to make the lighting more even looking.

I do really like this redesign, but there is no way to reconcile the size difference to the TOS Enterprise. It’s either an entirely different ship or it’s a different universe.

Too bad she's so tiny. I'd love to see one nearly twice the sitze, like the old TMP Enterprise, or at least 1/600 to match the Revell TOS Enterprise.

I actually like that updated design, but the scale is a pile of nonsense. That's the same size as the original TOS kit from the 60s, and should be listed as that scale. I think the decking even lines up. What I really want is one that's the same size as the 1/1000 kits, because that size is ideal for an easy display. The 1/2500 one is way too stupidly tiny, especially for the price they're asking.
