Everytime I see your work, the feeling of awe overwhelms me. Everything is cgi now, but I remember when it was done with models. Absolutely an excellent job on one of the only other Constitution class variants that is not ugly or has no feel of what it should look like. Mad Koi is another one, but this one has been on screen now and it is going to once again "Go where no man has gone before" in ST Strange New Worlds. Peace and long life 🖖🏼
Adding those extra touches really makes it stand out. Great job again Boyd.

Thanks, it's a sweet little kit.
I'm coming to the party a few years late, but I just picked up this kit, and I'm so happy to have found your channel! Your tips and tricks are clear, concise, and very helpful...thank you!
Stunning!
That's looking awesome Boyd. Love the lighting.
Brilliant as ever, I’m always excited to see your work. Thanks!
Great work as always and thanks for providing tips along the way.
Wow...love it.
Love the way this looks!!! Can't wait to see with all the aztec on it. I'l be watching.
Wow turned out great even without decals . I will be watching for the finish. Have a great and safe weekend
Wow this looks incredible! Great job!
Outstanding
Wow! This might be my favorite build of yours! Love the speed those engines turn!
Absolutely beautiful
Great build! Thanks for sharing!
I’m really enjoying all this Sci-Fi Model Action! 😉
Simply Beautiful, great work Boyd.
Congrats Boyd! It looks great! Looking foward to the next video with the aztecing!
Looks Great! I bought the bridge interior from Shapeways. And put 4 color changing leds in the bussards!
Beautifully done Boyd.....looks fantastic
This is fantastic
Really great job Boyd. Great color choices for this, especially the accents.
That looks great! I think Discovery did a nice job on designing this version of the Enterprise. Much, much better than the Abrams abomination. It looks great without the aztecing too. My thought on that is that on the original refit it was much more subtle. If it were a real ship, each panel was painted before being fitted into place, and each panel would look subtly different than it would if it were painted all at once. Kind of like when you have to fix a spot on your wall and paint it over. Even with the same paint, you can still see the patch in certain lighting conditions.

Amazing work again Boyd. Can't wait to see you start work on the robot. He featured in quite a episodes of lost in space. Have a great weekend.
Looks great.
Nice build Boyd! I had one on pre-order! I think that the best way is with all the “blinking “ lights and the motors in the nacelles! Awesome ship!👍
Superb !
Hey Boyd Love how your's is turning out .... i'm trying to add the Strobe lights to mine and i just order the Motors from Ralph. I'm also trying to add the Phasers & Photon Torpedo firing effects because these Star Trek Models well to me anyway they just don't seem right if you don't give them some kind of effects beside just the Nav & Strobe's well you get where i'm going with it ... Well i ordered some Tamiya Paint Colors i'm going to try and find the right mix hopefully i'll find the right mix that give the look i want for the Model .... Can't wait to see how good your's turns out once the Aztek Decals are put on Best of Luck to ya Boyd.
Looks great Boyd!

Boyd, you did a great job on those nacelles! With the tiny blue and white port holes!
Looks great Boyd can't wait to start mine I have strobe and nav lights coming from Tena controls.
Hi Boyd, Very nice work as usual. I’ve been slowly collecting models and waiting to find the time to build them. This of course was first inspired by you years ago. The first model I bought was the 1/350 Refit (and will probably be the last one I build - saving the best for last). Anyway, I love this Enterprise and the Ryan Church Enterprise equally. I love all your work! Thank you!
Beautiful work! It's a good model kit, but you make it look great!

Excellent. Looking forward to her completion. That toned down blue on the chillers looks a lot better. I'm thinking the pewter would be right for the nx-01 as well

Hey Boyd, great work as always! Looking forward to starting mine. Just a quick note: the lighting kit retails for $85, not $170 as stated. A high price on first blush for what's in the box, but for someone who has never dabbled with electronics I think it's a fair price. Like you said the materials are one thing, the time saved compared to the piecing it together yourself (and learn about electronics in general) makes the kit a decent value if you just want a lit Enterprise.

Thanks for the correction on the Polar Lights lighting kit. It's a great way to go if you don't want to fuss with modifying and soldering etc.
You did a beautiful job on this kit. I love this design! Such a great homage to the classic but upgrading it and actually tying it in to the refit as well.

Thanks buddy, I really like it too. I would love to see R2 do a new kit made for lighting in 1:650 scale of the TOS Enterprise. Make it the same size as the original AMT kit with the same details as the 1:350 model. That would be an awesome companion to this one.

@@TrekWorks IMHO, Revell/Germany could have been close to that with their TOS Enterprise kit. It seemed well-engineered from the construction standpoint (and made for lighting, too; all big points in its favor over the AMT 18" kit) but it had all those awful inaccurate details that create a lot of work to fix. The ring on the underside of the saucer was cut TOO deep and it emulated the awful lines on the hull that the 1991 11-ft model restoration paint job had which were not series-accurate. The Revell kits makes a good case that raised line detail isn't as bad as DEEPLY-engraved details. To get a smooth hull surface, you have to putty all over the Revell model (on the saucer, the engineering hull, AND the nacelles!!!!) to fill in all those hull lines and they are very obvious lines! Putty and sanding work is far more labor-intensive than sanding off ridges, IMHO. I don't know what Revell was thinking. They paid a license fee but they weren't supposed to invent their own design, either. They had a chance to do it right with all the available research but they blew it. The point's moot since the model's out of production; I doubt it will be repopped any time soon. I feel bad for those guys who bought it in Europe just to have an Enterprise without paying import duties on AMT/Rd2/PL kits. The Revell kit is terribly inaccurate -- maybe more so than the original AMT kit ever was...

In doing research for the 2500 scale, I noticed the officially licensed non kits like the Anovos and Eaglemoss were actually more the TOS color. From what i heard, thats the actual color. It just looks silver on screen
nice
Oooh nice!!! I wish I liked the series. As it is the ship and Pike are the only good things about it (in my opinion)
This is truly amazing work! Im wowed! Well done! Personally I have NO skills at model making and was wondering if you take orders or sell your models as I would be interested in purchasing one of these! Again keep up the great work! :)
Love this design and how it looks so far. I have a question not regarding this model (yet). Do you know why the panels have different colors? The best I came up with is trying to build something of the grand size in real life or even coloring after build of said size vs drying time. If any of that makes sense.
Hey Boyd did you sand off the port and starboard phaser bumps on the upper saucer? I did on mine to make it easier to lay down the decals.
I am finnish with my kit as well.... I am waiting on the decals..... But I am going to use old school decals as well..... For the ship to be called uss Defiant Ncc-1764💪💪💪💪💪
Fantastic job! I just received the model kit as a gift, and plan on ordering the light kit. If I wanted to adapt the lighting kit and use a wall plug, what would I use? Do you think I would be okay with a 4.5 V 1A Adapter? I have an old one here from an old phone. Any help would be great.
This looks great! Did you ever apply the aztec decals?
Looks amazing . Gg
How did you make the 4x rectangle lights on the top of the saucer?
The model came out great I got my stomach model almost put together and I went to my hobby store yesterday and I picked up another one with the polar lights lighting kit but my Aztec decals don't come in till September

Hi Boyd, Beautiful work as always; have followed you for a number of years. I first watched these videos on your Discovery Enterprise build when they first came out, but I may have missed the final completion of your build. I know this question may be coming from me a bit late, but did you ever get your decals for this build ? I ordered the Aztec masks for this model from MaskDesign. Hoping to start it soon... Thanks for all the inspiration and tips throughout the years! Bill
Hi Boyd, looks amazing, I've followed your build, and now completed - took some of your wisdom and looks perfect. Decals finished of the model and she is in my pride of place. Have you got your Base and Aztec Decals done? The numbering was a little off, but commonsense prevailed,
10:41 LOL The bussards are eyes, the bridge the nose and the lights in front are a big smile. Try to UNSEE that from now on.
Hi Boyd, did you ever build the custom stand that you were supposed to have the ship stand on?
Hey add Lasser use fishing line paint it bright yellow and attach it to the EP
Hi Boyd, I just got myself this kit and was wandering at what rpm does the motors spin at ? I think the lighting kit is way to expensive specially living in Australia ! so I can get these geared down motors from Ebay a lot cheaper and do my own lighting setup as i did with my NX-01 model. cheers
Fantastic work, and I really love that pewter color you've gone with! So for the Round2 lighting kit, do you think we could maybe use a potentiometer to slow down the motors? I've done that with the sirens on my Blitzway Ecto-1 (which were spinning way too crazy fast out of the box), but not sure if that would work with these...

It should work if you use the right one. I think the lighting set from Polar Lights works at 4.5 volts so you'll need to get one that can go below that.

Hey Boyd can you answer something for me How Many SMD's can run on one 1000 Watt Resistor ?
Still no update on decals for this?
Hi again, Wanted to contact you to ask two questions but the links on your KZread channel “About” page don’t seem to work... Anyway... 1) I bought the PL lighting kit for this model. What would you recommend for me to buy to just add blinking nav/strobe lights? I want to keep it simple. 2) I have the TOS 1/1000 Enterprise (several of them). My plan is to kit bash and have a small fleet based on the Franz Joseph Technical Manual. Can you tell me where I can buy some tiny motors to fit in those warp nacelles?
Hi Boyd, great job again as always. Your home made lighting system looks a lot sharper than the lighting kit does. BTW I think it's around $80 not $180.

Thanks, yeah I was thinking about the other kit they have for the 1:350 TOS Enterprise.
Did you ever finish this kit? I’d love to see your finish on this model. I hate the series, but I like this take on the Enterprise more than the recent film ones... which I’ll admit to also liking.
The color is beautiful; forgive me if this has been asked and answered already, but what do you use to thin craft paint for airbrushing?
@TrekWorks

Plain old tap water.
Man, you are amazingly talented! I'm sure you get a ton of requests like these, but I still have me late fathers original issue NCC-1701 Enterprise he built as a kid, amd was wondering if you would ever consider the possibility of giving it some of your Trekworks treatment, so that I and our family could enjoy it for another 50+ years?
@TrekWorks
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm very busy building several 1:350 scale TOS Enterprise models which are pretty much the only model I offer for my building service. Honestly, unless your Dad's model is broken, I wouldn't touch it. It's his original work and that would be lost.
My local Hobby Lobby doesn't carry much Sci-Fi models. Just 7 Star Wars models and ONE Star Trek model.
Boyd, nothing personal against you. You are doing your usual superb job on this model. Frankly, though, I hate it. Why they felt that the Enterprise needed to be "Re-imagined" is beyond me.

I understand, us Trek fans are passionate about our ships.
How do you keep the wires from twisting when rotating the model on the stand?
@TrekWorks
4 жыл бұрын
I always make an extra loop of wire inside the model for some slack so it can swivel back and forth.
Amazing job how much would you sell it for?
My Enterprise model almost put together
Have you seen the Robby the Robot that walmart sells? It's 20 bucks and about a foot tall, lights up and walks.
I don't advise the PL light kit. Left mine on for awhile after I finished the assembly, just kind of admiring it while I worked on other stuff. The LEDs died within hours and the motors melted the plastic holders that holds them in the nacelles. The LEDS don't have any life to them. Must be designed to be turned on for a minute or two and then turned off. They started to dim, then started blink before failing completely.
Its been buggin me for a while now, but I wonder if the guys who were drawing up this Enterprise just took one look at the Phase II designs and Just said, "I can work with this."
Great work Boyd, but did I hear you right? The pre-made lighting kit wat $178? I thought it was only $76 or so... I'd have to check though
