The reproductive cycle of female primates is called menstrual cycle. Menstrual cycle sstarts only after attaining sexual maturity. During ovulation, only one ovum is realeased per menstrual cycle. The cyclical changes in the ovary and uterus are induced by the changes in the levels of pituitary and ovarian hormones.
