Hi Fred. This is a great tool. I am a retired nurse. I would have loved to have made this, but arthritis in both hands prevents it. Can one still purchase it? Link to Etsy no longer works.

I'm assuming you'll take the flag in at night or when it rains. That would leave the metal base. If someone fell on it, that would be a problem.

I would have put a nylon or fiber washer between the lock-ring and the housing to take up the play and a drop of thread locker on the retaining bolt for the cam. Other than that, good job!

I like the design, I'm going to try something similar but with cauls between some of the screws to keep the piece flat.

Unfortunately you have a two-fold problem. You need a longer bit, but the spindle movement is only a couple inches if the spindle movement could be increased somebody needs to make a drill press that way

I have the same jointer - when maneuvering it around I almost got my own Darwin Award nomination when it tipped sideways and me under it. It got a little beyond the 45 degree mark before I could stop it's fall.

clamp your table gear in place. Then use your height crank to move the piece instead of the spindle stroke.
