Put it all together! Metal Cutting Station, Part 4

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Fourth and final video in a series, "Build a Metal Cutting Station". To adjust the alignment of the rail, we cut a taper with the jointer on the face of 1/4"x4"x10" stock, and size and mount the steel u-channel and plates. We find a problem with the flexible strap not holding the grinder steady and fix that as well.

I would have used the existing handle holes in the grinder to mount it to the sliding block, but then, I had your video to point me in that direction. Very nice job and video, I plan to use some of this idea and use gate rollers on angle iron for the tracks so I will have to see how that works out.

Dear Fred, thanks for putting this series together. The end result looks very functional. The best I have seen on KZread. Do you have a set of plans for your build? I will have to modify them because I am going to use a heavier duty 9” grinder instead of the lightweight 6”grinder you used. I am also left handed and so everything will need to be built the opposite way around. That doesn’t sound too hard does it?

I just bought a grinder and am wondering if I should use glove while working with it. I notice that you used gloves in this video. Should I use them? Is so, what kind of gloves do you recommend? Thanks so much. Nice work, by the way.

Why not slot the back hole on the base to make the alignment adjustment? The work at the joiner looked very dangerous. Glad nobody was hurt during the joiner process.

For future reference there are two holes, one on each side, that are there for a control handle for two handed use. A simple L bracket bolted to your frame and also into those holes will hold it steady indefinitely with no more issues

When you need to joint a piece like that just stick it to a piece of 2x4 with double - sided tape .make sure the 2x4 is the same length .Hope this helps anyone watching .

Those nubs on the back of the grinder are feet. They’re there so you can quickly put down the still spinning grinder on its back and not have to wait all that time for the blade to stop spinning.
