I wish I was in New York to see this exhibition. My favourite artist. I was fortunate enough to visit Worpswede a few years back and to visit her grave there. Also, there was a small 38 piece Paula Modersohn-Becker exhibition over Christmas in the Federal State Museum of Lower Saxony in Hanover, which displayed the Museum's own collection (I can see some of the pieces in the Neue Galerie exhibition). I particularly like her portrays of Farmer's wifes and girls from around Worpswede including that of her own sister. Too sad she died so young. Thanks for this short introduction to the exhibition ! Thank you also for including charcoal drawings - I have never seen them before, some pictures with their thick noses remind me of Van Gogh's oil painting "The potato eaters"
Thank you for curating this retrospective and for letting those of us who are far from NY see so much of it ❤
Fabulous exhibit. Incredible woman/artist who died too soon. Childbirth is still dangerous for women, we must do better.
I am I -- not I am me.
you must be German: it must be correct! ;) (I am joking)
I just visited the Neue Galerie first time today. I actually got to study some of Paula Mondersohn-Becker’s pieces in some of my college German classes. This special exhibit was great, I will be back!
Thank you so much for this, I will be getting there very soon.
Thank you for this video, it is long overdue. I first came across Paula Modersohn-Becker in the book "Broad Strokes" 15 Women Who Made Art and Made History (In That Order) by Bridget Quinn @bquinnterest. I had never heard of Paula but this book gave me a peek into her and her very important contribution to women and their art. Her work and the authors commentary certainly left me engaged with her work. I highly suggest getting the book. Thank you again.
I am far away from the Neue Galerie unfortunately. I love what you present. Thank you.
Can't wait to see this! Once-in-a-lifetime show for sure.
Thank you for finally giving the world the complete story of this great painting.
Wonderful -
Neue Galerie presents provocative, thoughtful modern artists (Schiele, Gerstl, Beckmann), and offers intelligent, informed insights into their works and era. I am grateful that such a place persists. The café preserves atmosphere and tastes of a bygone era. A lovely spot in tune with New York’s psychoanalytic tradition. ❤
A completely extraordinary place. There are magnificent museums in New York, the Neue Gallery is just different. Wonderful video. Thank you so much.
I am far, far from NY, but i will be going to that Neue Galerie one day, for sure.
What a stunning museum...
I can’t wait to see the Klimt.
My FAVORITE museum in New York! ❤
Me too. Also, the Cooper-Hewitt usually has fantastic exhibitions. The Bard Graduate Center (West sidw0 has academic and substantive exhibitions.
Excellent 💯💯💯
fascinating ! ^^
It is interesting to note that artificial intelligence Perplexity estimated value of a still life painting by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner up to 17 millions euro .How fo think its fair price and possibility to sell or not?
I am looking forward to visiting this museum and seeing the pictures. I saw the movie The Women in Gold, I loved the story and Helen Mirren's acting was superb
I watched the movie about this painting! this is truly a masterpiece !
Danke! 🫶🏻 I absolutely love art history and all the greats but Klimt is one of my favourites. Unmistakable style, moves your emotions and stuns you that such works of beauty could be painstakingly created. Have the XXL TASCHEN book of his lifes work. Get it or see it if you can, its circa £150 for a huge, beautifully detailed book. 🇮🇪 💜
Klimt’s work make me tear up
Boring paintings
Really fascinating and interesting to see how he painted such beautiful pictures of Landscape.. Thanks for sharing this beautiful video.. regards
Love Klimt but too bad this gallery not only doesn't do any reciprocal museum memberships but their price of even a single admission is unreasonably steep
It is an independent private museum.
very cool compositions ... the landscapes are indeed the best ! ! ! !
I don't know if it has been pointed out before, but not that I know of, 4:27 The Rise of Photography and a new devotion to landscapes. In the early days of photography, landscape was a far easier subject to capture on film than a studio model and set-up, which dominated so many earlier canvases. The two forms in co-evolution makes so much sense in so many ways. Thank you for pointing in out.
Would be so unbelievble to visit.
Emilie Flöge was even cooler than Klimt. good video!
Gallery ou meusem ??
This is terrific on many levels.
Wow, these are incredible! The landscapes feel so joyful and lively. Thank you for making this virtual tour for us, I wish I could see it in person as well!
I saw Klimt work in Austria. It was the first time I saw people crying in front of a canvas.
I also saw his paintings at The Belvedere ,in Vienna...first time I saw "Woman in Gold". I have since been at The Neue a few times, going there for the landscapes exhibit.
Beautifully presented exhibition; many thanks for this. Exquisite paintings, and I have learned so much of interest about Klimt and his times, especially during the years prior to WW1, the calm before the storm which brought catastrophe.
❤❤❤. Great information about one of my favorite artists. Well done!
Until when is this exhibition ? Is is permanent or had a date to return thr paintings to their original ,useums? Thanks
"KLIMT LANDSCAPES" February 15 - May 6, 2024 neuegalerie.org/klimtlandscapes
Looks worth seeing in person.
Thank you.
aww when seeing beauty truth comes to mind. thank you.
Magnifique !! Merci pour la présentation. My eyes watered as i was looking at the presentation. I unfortunately cannot go to NY to see it so it is much appreciated that you published this. Auf Wiedersehen.
I trust you are following other museums e.g. the Norton Simon in Pasadena, CA in having all the works protected behind glass. You want to minimize the possibility of vandalism. Take care of yourself and the Klimt works.
And so Great that the curator shows images and really talks about them - its such a fine and wonderfull exhibition of the beauty of gardens and landscapes - something we all know and immediately recognize and rejoice in and yet something painted in a very special way - I would love to see these paintings in reality. 🙏for this treasure of a video of Klimt Landscape paintings 🎵💚🧡🖤🩶🤍🩵🎶
What beautifull and a wonderfull expression of joy of the beauty of landscapes. 🙏🖤💚🖤💚🖤
Well done
Great video, great pieces, I just wish you gave us a little more time with each work.
A safe satellite Gallery in upstate would be incredible. The Neue is just too important.
What do you mean a "safe" satellite gallery? The Neue Gallerie is an independent private museum and has proper security in place. I don't think its permanent collection is not large enough to split into two separate museums.
Just wanted to make sure no one is unaware that Klimt was the family portrait artist for the Wittgenstein family. Yes, _that_ Wittgenstein.
Thank you.
