Excellent live version of this song. But whoever wrote the dialogue at the beginning should be fired

This version of Steppin,' Out always sounded like to me that it was the real last time he would play this spontaneously and straight from the heart. Everything after that night to my ears never quite seemed to be as raw and intuitive. But here, he just flies. So beautiful.

EC’s tone is remarkable in this. Guitar players should take note. You don’t need a super fancy rig. Just quality pieces of gear and you’re set. Bonamassa noted once how EC rolled up to a gig with an off the wall signature strat, monster cable, and a fender twin reissue and it sounded like, well, Clapton. I believe he tours or did tour at one point only with a Wah and maybe a Leslie switch? Amazing. If you got good pickups, a solid amp, and you can make the thing talk - you’re set.

Also if ya dig this song on youtube you may enjoy Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band. I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and also read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on KZread. 😀

I'm not one for drum solos, but for some reason this was really captivating. Like, I'm sure there are solos that are more showy than this, but way more boring. Maybe cause it's kinda 'tribal drumming' sounding? Then it goes kinda jazzy. I've never really watched him before, tbh, but he can play.
Never missed a beat...this is when Clapton was at his best in my opinion - when with Cream - and the Layla album.
