Cream - Sweet Wine live at Royal Albert Hall, London.
May 2, 3, 5, 6. 1080p
9 of 22
In May of 2005 Cream returned to London's Royal Albert Hall-to the same stage where they had completed what was thought to be their final performance in 1968. It was one of the most eagerly anticipated, hard-to-get tickets in rock history. With the exception of a brief reunion set at their 1993 induction into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame, Cream had not played together in nearly four decades. This DVD documents Cream's momentous London shows. Performances from each of the four nights are featured and much more. Also included are alternate performances and interviews with Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton. Cream formed in 1966 and disbanded in 1968. The band were a prolific and thrilling live act and toured incessantly in their short but remarkable history.

The lyrics of a pastoral poem, transposed to music and we all talk of Clapton and Baker, but Bruce is a superb musician and vocalist and is often underrated.

Great jam and sight to see Eric and Jack work like they did here. Mr. Baker on top of it all and with that breakdown so well done. Still master innovators and second to none.
I've been reading these comments about "old farts",etc...,rather humorous; these guys still get the last laugh! Think about this:3 musicians who are 60+years old, haven't even played together in 37 years...,selling out the Albert Hall for 4 nights in a row! They captivate still the audience...,3 elderly gents riveting the attention of several thousand people for 2+hours!! Who else could pull this off??

Screw the keyboard jockey morons. They're all jealous: these three guys are masters of their instruments and, even moreso, of all the musical styles they play. One can like or not like the actual output--that's a matter of taste. But their massive talent, separately and together, is objectively true. They're far more talented than anyone, literally anyone, commenting here. That irks the weak.

I think these reunion shows must be the best ever reunion from an old band, its like you say to yourself before it happens 'I know Cream will still be pretty good ' but surely no one expected them to still rule live, also the version of N.S.U is just amazing.

This is the most ~Cream~ of the solos Clapton did at this concert, he's really, what is the phrase, "steppin' out"
Giving the drummer some--brilliant!
Audiance is in awe, that was just beautiful.Clapton's Strat solo was just orgasmic.

Ginger wrote this song with Jack's then wife. How incredible was that! 😀
much respect to those artist that after 30 40 years they still get up there and put all there effort to there shows as when they were young! MUCH RESPECT!
Great singing and amazing lead guitar 3 gods reunited
This might be my favorite Cream song!! Incredible to see their musicianship, especially since they hadn't played together in almost 40 years!! This is rock and roll 101. The original power trio!! It saddens me though that the joy of what this band gave us is tempered by feuding and drug addiction. Rest in peace Ginger and Jack 🙏🙏
Written by Ginger Baker! That took me by surprise. Such whimsical lyrics, I didn't know he had a side that wasn't completely crazy!

@@helmutsecke3529it’s all that’s necessary when these 3 guys are playing together. No pyrotechnics, flashy lights, nothing needed when it’s pure talent.
Music is a profession where it's quite normal to perform into your 70s or even 80s. Many classical pianists and violinists and jazz players did so, We don't expect it from rockers because the music started out as youth culture music, but these guys can still play. The one area where old age gets in the way is singing, but Cream where never exactly operatic.
@Jackle61

Not to forget, you don't find a lot of classical pianists and violinists that have overcome debilitating drug and alcohol addictions and abuse. I'm sure there are a few, but it's almost part of the rock culture.
Sweet improvisation! Loved his sound during the days he played with cream.
I could watch this every day and not get tired of it...
How can you not love those smiles between Eric and Ginger at the end...? "We're young again!"
I thought that this was one of their most nostalgic tunes.... the way they jammed on this one really evoked a live bootleg 60s cream recording.
I think, had Jimi Hendrix had lived, he would have at least, sound as good these guys, his peers. No disrespect. Really clean, and dynamic. Rest In Power, Ginger & Jack.
Clapton has never done anything as good as Cream.
I was at the Madison Sq Garden reunion show. November 2005. Definitely the greatest concert I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to hundreds. The best band ever assembled for their genre.
Love to see another reunion performance.........

It's great to see the older musicians still on their game - we wouldn't have seen this (except Eric) a few, if not more, years back. I think it's great and better than ever!!
Cream=Perfection
Amazing!
How awesome is this. In their 60's, Cream still rocks like hell. However, Clapton playing that Strat is always a bit odd to me (I know its been years). Would love to see him with a Gibson again. Hell, Eric Johnson plays Gibsons on occasion (LOL). Even so, this is great.

Hendrix and Clapton were actually pretty good friends. Clapton went to New York to record with Ahmet Ertegun. When Clapton had his free evening, he would go out with his friend Hendrix and they would go to random clubs, see who was playing there and just jammed with them! Such were the days. Clapton was also deeply hurt when he heard of Hendrix's death. All of this is there in his autobiography, its a really good read!

A brief, but glorious rebirth that puts Clapton's disappointing post-Cream work sharply into perspective. This is truly the man who was declared God. RIP Jack and Ginger.
This song just drives along. I think back to 1980s comments about the "wrinkles of rock" but now you see Eric , Jack and Ginger blast away all before them and fire up the audience
Total music perfection......
Cream is the precursor to Rush as far the the most musical gifted 3 person band.

I called their reunion in 1991. Took a while but it finally happened. The fire might not be there but there are some damn hot embers in the ashes.
Reminds me of my weekend warrior trips to the Haight. I had short hair and was checking out the vibe .I managed to bump into a local by accident he said " nice going straight- head". Although Cream played fantastic , they look as I did , on that day I incurred some strange hippie
The greatest ever
I'm old enough to remember when they released this song in a live version in the 60's that was 15 minutes long. Glad to see them rein it in. But then Toad in this show is also long, but not as long as that one from back then. I mean, 17 minutes, wasn't it?
THIS IS JAMMING.

Ginger Baker actually looks less freaky at this age, When he was young, he was quite a shock of windy red hair and wild eyed smiles.
I was at 7 Clapton shows . The last one I saw was SRV's last show ( the last one in East Troy ) . None were as good as this , but sad he didn't play the SG or an SG .

You will reach back instead to us for authentic music.
Cream was the original jam band.
Powerful stuff, also in this updated version. The melody of the part sung by Jack Bruce, at 0:36 reminds me of a classical piece, but I can't remember the name. Anybody?

Clapton’s solos was much better in the sixties live or studio I miss the signature riffs and licks
Baker may have been a difficult man, but he could really play. RIP.
I have this issue with most video editors. Why in blazes do they keep jumping the camera around. A two second shot there, three second there. Trying to be artistic they miss the most important aspect of the performance, that is technique of the performers. 3:47 - 4:00 was perfect. We get the see the whole band, and enjoy their techniques even then they cut it off after about 9 seconds. What a shame. Guys leave that damn camera on the performers .

I think he’s basically using his onboard booster to drive the amp harder. Those old design tube amps are all about input level which is why guys used to use boosters instead of dirt pedals. I don’t know what Clapton’s pedal situation was at these gigs but given that he resisted Marshalls and wah pedals I’d be surprised if he busted out a fuzz box (especially considering he didn’t used to use them). Neck pickup and backing off the tone control with considerable gain was always how he got the woman tone (those old non-master-volume Marshalls are already distorted by the time you get them up to gig volume, which is around “2” on the channel volume knobs)
Eric Johnson beginnings
This would be so much better if the guitar were 20% lower in the mix...and you could actually, like, HEAR JACK BRUCE.
