What happens now is that instead of the leaves getting in the gut or they just lay on top and they just build up on the roof not a good thing

Surely over 30 years I've installed a hundred miles of gutter. The only leaf protection I use on my house is hail screen and it works great.

They should have told you that you need a larger gutter system. Preferably a 6-inch. When I put a new roof on my house I changed to a 6 inch system and installed some leaf guards I found on Amazon for less than $300 and they work perfectly and only took me an hour to install. I had similar runoff that you have as seen in this video prior to the change, and the larger gutters with "basic" leaf guards worked.

And I want to add when you see all these TV commercials KZread commercials and they're set up in every homeowners show or fairgrounds that's a lot of money so they're scamming a lot of people for thousands of dollars to be doing all that advertising and they must do a lot of advertising

Whenever a company like that offers an easy payment plan you know you're ready to get skinned something that should cost a few hundred dollars ends up being a contract for thousands that's a big red flag walk away

A rule of thumb I go by is this: If the ads and promotions are non-stop, the shadier the product usually is. Truly top-notch products tend to advertise themselves. It's like all the yelling lawyers and car dealers, the louder and more obnoxious they are, greater is the need to stay far away.

Why would anyone pay $11k for gutters and guards? That was the first mistake. You could've paid someone $500 per year for 22 years to clean them.

Your cutting off 90 percent of the flow of water your gutters can hold by installing this sham product call someone once a year to clean your gutters and get any trees cut back from over your roof it's a tried and true practice dating back centuries .

Leaf Guard gave me an estimate of $3600 to put their guards on my existing 25 year old gutters that weren't in very good shape. I told them no thanks that their price was outrageous for not replacing the gutters too. I got a local gutter company to replace all my existing gutters plus add 20 ft of gutters where there were none all in a larger size to catch more water with their leaf guards installed on them for $600. That included all new larger down spouts too. And yes LG started out at a much higher price before trying to convince me that their $3600 price was after throwing in all their so called discounts.

Hi Brenda, nice to see that you're standing your ground. Almost curious to know if you have trees that might be too close to your house that are creating the issue. If there's so much debris in the first place, you may want to consider going to the source of the problem, in this case the leaves and sticks. Personally, I don't believe in any type of gutter guard as you can't clean out any algae or moss that may accumulate due to the lack of airflow and light. It may be an every-other-year type of task to hire someone to clean it vs all this time you've spent on it so far. Just my thoughts, good luck!

Thank you for posting these videos. My mother, who is an elderly widow who lives on a large property with very large trees, was considering getting LeafGuard as she is not able to perform the maintenance on her gutters. I have forwarded your videos to her and you have done a great service. You are not stupid. I hate that some people actually said that to you. These things are not simple and I am impressed with the fact that not only did you deal with LeafGuard in such an intelligent way, but that you provided a very informative and high quality video. I have sent both of your videos to my mom. Thanks again and I hope LeafGuard does the right thing and gives you a *full refund* given the defects of their product. Do better LeafGuard.

Leaf guard is a rip off! For 35’ of leaf guard and to replace and repair existing gutters they wanted $4k,$114.00 a linear foot. That was outrageous, they were not even ashamed or embarrassed to quote me such a ridiculous price. Then I see this video. Glad I passed! Don’t get ripped off by scammers like leaf guard.

Omg! 20 years ago I myself installed the cheap plastic gutter guards that Lowe's sells. The ones that slide under the shingles and snap onto the gutter. They worked perfect as we are surrounded by woods. I just replaced them with the same as we got the roof replaced and I figured I may as well install new ones. Never had one come off.

When I heard $11,000 my jaw hit the floor. No way those gutters cost anything close to that! I’ve seen their ads forever and I know they are trying to prey on disabled and the elderly.

"This is the way we have always done it in the past" WHAT MORONS!! Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's the right way! If you can't change, you will go extinct Leaf Guard. This is the first time I've seen these videos, but just a few weeks ago some type of leaf gutter representative was set up in Lowes and stopped me about my gutters... I explained I removed all the gutters off my house as they are terrible for winters where I live, she was worried about my foundation, I explained I banked fill dirt against my house so water runs away from the house and not into the foundation... she was dumbfounded until I explained to her exactly what it does. Gutters freeze in the winter, create ice damns and get under your shingles so far back as to extend past the ice guard creating leaks, just not worth it! I then explained that gutters were originally designed to be above entryways, not the entire house, but nowadays days when they build houses the land is flat up to your foundation unlike many years ago were they backfilled against the foundation creating a slope for water to run away from it. You're better off spending the money on french drains around your foundation than wasting so much money on gutters that can ruin your roof. YOU DO YOU, I'LL DO ME... no need to comment on my post.

I can see my neighbors gutter overflow every time we get heavy rain, his problem isn't the gutters themselves, it's that the water is only guided into a rather small barrel with holes in it to seep into the ground. So with heavy rain, the barrel fills all the way and the water has no where to go but to overflow the gutters. Make sure you have a large enough seepage shaft (unsure if that's the correct term, I'm not a native english speaker) when you have the gutters installed. This comment is obviously not related to the LeafGuard installation seen here, that just seems flawed in so many ways. Just something people need to be aware of.
