Moving to Oklahoma City With Russell Carter
Moving to Oklahoma City With Russell Carter
Hi! My name is Russell Carter and this channel is about living in Oklahoma City.
I am a husband, father and a real estate agent here in the Oklahoma City Metro. At 30 years of age I was a multi-Emmy Award winning news reporter for one of the top NBC affiliates in the country, but decided to walk away. There I was, a Californian living in Oklahoma and walking away from my so-called “dream job.”
So, I know what it’s like to make major life changes.
This channel will focus on city and community tours of the Oklahoma City Metro. Tours of new construction, cost of Living , and Pros and Cons. So please, subscribe to the channel so we can stay connected.

Im from L.A. and i want to move to OK because its conservative and cost of living is great. Ive lived i iowa and spent much time in the rural regions, the people were cool.
If you have any questions just give me a call. It's a good spot. I left Cali 20 years ago and haven't looked back.
Your wife is lovely! Does she work with you?
Thank you and we work in different industries.
@@MovingtoOklahoma probably works better for you both that way. Count your lucky stars
A lot of people forget that neighborhood used to be downtown airport if I remember correctly. What a way to repurpose an area.
Have you done any homes in Iron horse Ranch? Or any of Jeff Click's homes?
I have not done one in Iron Horse yet, and I almost bought a Jeff Click house a couple of years ago. Iron Horse is a good spot. It's near I-35 as well as shopping and restaurants, but you're also a mile or two away so they're not on top of you.
@MovingtoOklahoma true that! Thanks for the quick response.
The map makes it way easier to understand great job!
Glad it helped!
Oh wait a tornado hit the south side of Oklahoma city maybe like four years ago. I know because I live on the other side of the river from where it hit!
First time I was in piedmont ws 1986. It was literally just the one street where the church was maybe had a couple of hundred people. Now it has exploded. Nice neighborhoods with large to huge homes. It's still finding an identity and is definitely a bedroom community. There is little retail and most of the jobs are the school district. But retail isn't far away yukon 10 min south okc 15 mins east . More important is if you want a home with a yard a lot of homes have at least 1/2 acre. The town is really spread out with enough room to grow over a 100k residents and still plenty of area .
Move to Texas. Leave us alone.
I’ve lived in Midtown/Uptown for over 25 years. My in-laws lived in Fairview Farms and I worked off of 150th. Most hateful place I’ve ever been to. Couldn’t pay me to move there. Pulling teeth to even go to Memorial. My in-laws never knew any of their neighbors, all of our neighbors have pride flags and aren’t even gay! We’re all on group chat. No thank you.
Norman is the only suburb I would even consider, but moving anywhere out of a great neighborhood would be stupid.
Thanks for the comment and watching the channel. There are a lot of great places to live in OKC.
You’re welcome here as long as you don’t bring the Democrats B.S. WITH you.
Moved from del city to cashion and haven't really been to piedmont besides for gas. Looks like a cool place to live, tho I wanna go back into the city. Could u do a suburb review of del city? I loved it there, but it gets a worse rap then it deserves from okc residents sadly. I think its a great option for starting out and I wanna see how it is a few years later cuz I'm considering moving back Edit: also great job with the camera work, editing, and landscape views. I'm a photographer for fun and you do great camera work/location scouting
Let me see what I can do. 🤔 Im doing videos for multiple OKC suburbs. But, Mid-Del is on this list.
Looks pretty good to me knowing that most all amenities you'll need isn't far away. But if that town was literally in the middle of nowhere with nothing around for many miles? I'd have to pass.
Yeah. People struggle with it when they Google Piedmont.😂 However, once they get here they are shocked by how close it is.
Automatic no….lol well maybe
Piedmont is not for everybody
Nice video…any info on Tulsa?
Thanks. OKC and Tulsa are separated by 100 miles, so I mainly focus on Oklahoma City. I can give you some pretty good info on Tulsa, but not this in depth
This is hands down the only good video about okc out there. Ur 100 per cent right, all the other vids r realtors trying 2 sell, ur honest. Im from del city and i think it gets a bad rap. Yeah, its poor, but theres much worse in the city itself
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback.
Amazing video. This is what we need to see
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Been here whole life never heard a racist word. Also, Tulsa > OKC 👍
As someone that has lived in Edmond, this is pretty cool watching vids like this
Thanks
Great video Russell. We enjoyed it very much. Great quality and presentation. Thank you, we learned a lot of new information.
Thanks, if you have any questions don't hesitate to call or text
Excellent video editing!
Thanks
How will north America’s tallest skyscraper work in tornado country?
Tornados can take out trailers and barns .. height doesn't matter.
@@MovingtoOklahoma Ah, color me stupid, but a lot more (structure/glass/capital/human life) is riding on north America’s tallest skyscraper (if built) than a trailer or barn… that’s the difference, and it’s no small difference.
Okies are the friendliest and most welcoming people. Commiefornias are the most racist. Please stay in California, New York or those other Liberal states. Or if you move here don't take your BS views with you and try to change our state. We love GOD, Family and Country.
bro stop telling these people to move here 😂 im gatekeeping OKC
It's a great place to be!
One of my uncles was a firefighter in Yukon
I live in northern California and can’t stand it for many reasons. I’m conservative, and am basically a political minority here. The cost of living is outrageous, with gas north of $5 a gallon, and rent/home prices keep going up. I’d probably lean more towards Tulsa, but I like that OKC is a reasonable distance from there. Keeping options open.
Tulsa isn't a bad choice. OKC to Tulsa is like going from SF to Sacramento. Personally, I think OKC is a step up but either way you should be fine. Thanks for watching the channel!
As a Commiefornia transplant myself, I left in ‘78, I welcome all y’all as long as you remember the reason you left and check your blue politics at the Cali state line. Oklahoma is great for veterans.
Politics are different everywhere! An Oklahoma Democrat is probably more in line with a California Republican. Just vote for the issues....not the party.
CA was no where near as far left as it is now in 78. It’s greatly changed the past 20-25 years. Further out away from big metro areas still lean center right. I love Oklahoma. I’d move there if not for my wife’s career. I told her take a pay cut and the housing costs will make up for it!
Don’t bring Californias homeless with you.
Excuse me if you've been asked, but were you a reporter on a local news channel a while ago? If I had my choice to do it all over again, I/we would be okay with living in Arcadia/Jones. Never mind, I should've been patient... 9:45
Thanks for watching and yes I was at KFOR between 2002-2011.
OKC is a wasteland. I do my best to never venture farther north than Dick's Sporting Goods.
Ahhh. Mist live Mustang or Norman...good places to be.
Great informative tour!
Glad I could help
I love living in Moore
It's a cool spot. Very underrated
That's straight truth
Great video! 🎉
Eastside is still pretty bad
Some areas still need some work, but there is a lot of building going on in certain areas.
Democrats please stay in your rat infested, crime-ridden crap-hole cities. He mentions snow but fails to mention the ice storms we have. You can be without power for days . (I went 23 days a few years ago due to an ice storm.) But usually it takes 3 to 10 days to restore power.
We like staying under the radar here in Oklahoma! lol Great State! ❤️
Make a better omparrison istead of using walnut deck calif use San Diego calif. Walnut Creek is super expensive
Thanks for watching. I used Walnut Creek because it is a highly desirable suburb of San Francisco. Edmond is a highly desirable suburb of Oklahoma City.
I feel like as soon as this video drops and I make arrangements to move, it will already be hella overpriced but maybe it’s just my luck 🍀
Hahaha I was just thinking the same thing about myself 🥴
Honestly right now is good time to move into OKC, especially if you're after new construction. There are a lot of interest rate buy downs...if you have any questions just call
what about "the village?"
It's right next to Nichols Hills (old money) so they benefit from the proximity. There are a lot of cute older homes. With that being said there are some sketchy areas that are dominated by rentals. It's just as important to check out the neighborhood as well as the house.
Hey man. Great video. Maybe we could do a collab.
Nice home
Tulsa Ok is so much nicer than OKC.
Cool. Thanks for watching
Notice how he doesn't have an aggressive, rude attitude? Notice how he doesn't talk like a VICTIM? Notice how he isn't mentioning the word "diversity" "privilege" or "social justice" every other sentence? This is how people act in REAL AMERICA. This is how how people act who haven't been brainwashed by Leftist, Violent Lunatics in the Universities. People like this guy are who built this country and made this country great. Now, lets watch the next Blue-Haired Feminist Nazi promoted by the Media.
Took me ten yrs, only miss my family.
I love My State, My Country, My home Oklahoma, I get along perfect with my Native American, Latino, Black, white and Asian neighbors. Moore Oklahoma is the place to move. we are the RED in between purple Okc and Norman
I hate pride
This is SO ACCURATE. I recently moved from L.A..... this is the BIGGEST CULTURE SHOCK I've EVER EXPERIENCED... 😮
Hope you don't vote blue
@@jebbbig I second that.
@jebbbig They will. They only moved because they can't afford California, just like my neighbors who should go pack it up and move right on back to Cali.
Oklahoma is great. I live in Enid. Great town. We are mostly conservative. Most of us are even too conservative for Fox news. Being conservative just means that you don't want to be pushed into stuff by the government. Which leads me to comment on your flag statement. 😂 Depends on how pissed off we are at the government. Seriously though, all we really want is a safe place to freely raise our children. I've lived in more places than most people have even visited. Oklahoma is a great place to be a family man.
very informative video, Hi Bro, please advice where near OU childrens Hospital. a good place to live for family of 4.
As a realtor I can't "Steer you" to any location. However, give me a call and I can help to narrow down the search by your likes and don't likes. 405-413-4415
Not "just an extension of Texas!" You are clearly not from here. This is so offensive. Go back to where you came from.
