    The only way they can get you for milage tempering is if you take say a car with 200k and add a cluster with 175 or 150k and try to pass it off with lower miles. You can however add a cluster with 205k or more and you will be fine. You can add more miles to a car and not have to disclose that the car has less miles than the cluster shows. Just not the other way around..

    Good video.. but I definitely would have just pulled the engine out. You pretty much did all the work to do that anyway.. then inspect the whole engine. You got REALLY lucky there wasn't any metal valve seat pieces in the block..

    I just bought a miata that stood for 3 years. Now it sits in my driveway waiting for parts, however, I do have this part. It looks like a project for this afternoon, especially since it now has no petrol in it. I'll fill some after and hopefully it will run a little better.

    The cooling fans don’t exactly have to go up through the bottom you just gotta remove the upper radiator hose and turn the fans on. It’s on its side it’ll come right up.

    My 2011 Ram HEMI 5.7 at 93k miles broke a valve spring and my #3 intake valve hit the piston. Dealer wanted $13k to replace the engine. Will do what you did to save money. Thanks for the video. My only feedback is why didn't you replace the lifters and cam while you were there? They cause the same failure modes.

    This was extremely helpful, thanks! I saw the comments about the excessive fuel runoff. I went through the full fuel system depressurization process (disconnecting fuel pump electrical and starting it, plus opening fill cap) and still flowed out non-stop. I think it’s more that the filter is below the tank and gravity/siphon causes this. If I had to do it again, would use some kind of clamp on the hose. Appreciate the work that went into this and that it made it easier for me to do this repair!!

    good job only thing is never spin the crankshaft on the bears befote putting the caps on. yeah never do that again. can actually damage the bearings an scratch the shaft like that, i am actually suprised you did that because you seem very skilled. very good job tho. good comunication. thanks for the video

  • @cardesinr
    @cardesinr Жыл бұрын

    When you have good machine work and measure the block, your main bearings sit in the block very close to perfect. They may not be perfectly round at the stage before the main caps are torqued down, but they shouldn't be more than 5 thousandths of final spec which will not harm any parts. I spin the crank as a quick sanity check at every assembly stage to check for issues as I build. Main bearings see far more abuse from normal use that anything I would put on it during the build. Thanks for watching!
