Hi and welcome. My name is BJ. I'm an avid thrifter and DIY'er specializing in painting furniture.
My goal is to empower you through creativity. I want to give you the tools and techniques and, more importantly, the confidence to paint your own furniture.
My focus is bringing you well edited tutorials without a ton of fluff and extras, just the basics on how I create statement finishes on furniture.
You'll find mostly furniture painting tutorials with a couple thrifting videos thrown in every once in a while. And every so often I'll publish a video on the business part of flipping furniture.
If this sounds good to you, please subscribe!
A little about me- I am a Debi's Design Diary DIY Paint retailer in Noblesville, IN. I am a native New Yorker currently living in Copenhagen, Denmark. I have painted furniture for close to 25 years and have had my business since 2012. I've grown a lot as a furniture painter, learning new skills and making lots of mistakes. It's just paint!

BJ, you’re inspiring and quite the artist. The truth is, I’m afraid of color 😂. But I’m really enjoying learning from you so thank you! Glad you’re feeling better!
Beautiful. What colors did you use?
I used all Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: Salty Kiss, Seaglass and Old 57 over a base coat of Old School
Love it. I really want to paint my backsplash and am scared. This video helped me!
Beautiful!
I love that I bought 2 of them!! Can't wait to use it.
it looks sooooo good! I love the colors and technique.
I always enjoy your funky art projects! And I’m so glad you share them with us

I need help. I have a bench/chest that is stained in this horrible orangy stain. I have no experience refinishing furniture so I’ve been looking up how to do it without sanding and restaining & I just watched all your videos and love your style & techniques. So I was thinking about if I painted multiple coats & then did the wet distressing. The problem is on your projects, the original wood will peek through…which looks good depending on the color of the wood. But since my wood is the color of over cooked carrots, I DONT want it to show at all. Do you have any suggestions? If I did a varnish between coats of paint do you think that would help at all?
LWhat are the paint colors. I can’t find the full length video

All paint colors are listed in the description of the full length video which I just posted above
What are you spraying while you paint? Water? Also can you explain the inlays(?)
@@srcworm I am spraying water using a misting bottle so it’s a very fine spray. Paint Inlays are made only by Iron Orchid Designs. They are artist grade paint on a carrier sheet. When the inlay is laid into wet paint the artist paint is embedded into the paint on your project.
Fabulous
I just love it!
Great idea !! So kool !! Great job
Beautiful job!! I love the way you blended the colors and I love the way you just kept the camera rolling while you were experimenting and creating because it lets us all see your vision come together!! The guilded transfer was the perfect choice for this piece!!! Nicely done!!!!
I wasn’t sure how the gilded was going to work initially, but you did a magnificent job on that piece. You are also very fortunate to have those friends of yours for so long. I think it’s wonderful. ❤❤
I love this mound-it’s so beautiful!
Gorgeous! It is a passion for me as well , so I totally understand the amount of time spent… It is filled with the joy of creating 🥰💗
Clever-Clever-Clever! Wonderfully creative use of this mold. You were actually quite reserved in how you painted her repeating image. I wonder what it would look like if you really went to town and abstracted the faces with bright colors and designs. Maybe I'll give it a go....? You always inspire me,
BJ, you're a wild one for sure... love seeing what you come up with especially with these new releases. I absolutely love your channel... Keep doing YOU!!!
Oh my goodness, I found your channel as part of the playlist and just subbed. I am also on the playlist using the Persephone mould. I am using the gilded transfer in my video today. I love the techniques you used. When I am not knee deep in IOD projects as part of the new release, I am definitely going to binge watch your channel. Thank you for creating a beautiful and unique piece. Have a great day!
You are an ARTIST. Repeat after me, I am an Artist. Love your fearlessness and, of course, your art.
I love how it turned out!
you nailed the pop art vibe..love it
❤
Awesome...really love it 🧡
Beautiful work, BJ. You are right. Something about gold "trim" that brings that Umph (is that a word?) to the piece. The only thing is that i would have put the stencil designs on the sides because the top is usually covered by stuff. Love your creativity, your honesty, and your process. Keep it up! I am all caught up with your videos. Hope that you are having an awesome summer! And, anytime you want to share more projects, I am your fan.
Hi BJ, thank you for sharing your process. You are right. Art is personal. And, the bottom line is to create what makes you happy, what is fun for you. Good for you. Congrats on another awesome and beautiful project!
WOW! That was tons of work and you did an amazing (and quick) job. It really looks fabulous. Congrats!!!! I am continually anazed by the amount of talent and creativity that you have and create. Well done, BJ! Be proud of yourself!
BJ, what a fabulous piece! It's absolutely gorgeous. Congrats on your new job for Turquoise Iris Journal. I can totally relate to everything you went through here. Painting/redesigning furniture is a journey through our emotions. It's not for the faint if heart and, with every project , we grow, learn more about ourselves and become stronger! Congratulations on all of your accomplishments. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. By the way, there is an Australian furniture artist, VonBoo who decoupages with Mint by Michelle papers a lot. She actually uses varnish as glue. I don't know what her KZread channel is called. She explains and shows the process on both KZread and in-sta-gr-am. Off to your next video.... Can't believe i missed 4 of your projects!
Hello BJ, W O W! What an amazing idea! What an amazing project! You are so creative! It came out awesome. Thank you for sharing all the tips and lessons, learned along the way. I absolutely LOVE your work and your videos. They are very honest and refreshing.... and, of course, loads of fun. I missed you.
❤❤❤❤
Well, I consider you an artist. You like to create and your style is unique and you always seem to be willing to push and try new things. Sure, some things work out better than others, but what matters is that desire to create, the need to make art regardless. I've had that urge since I was a tiny child, always loving color and making things, and entering my 7th decade on this planet, I continue to need to make art. And even though I've never sold anything, I'm an artist. And clearly so are you!
I loved all three of your projects, I've always admired your creativity, and your bold approach. But.... I had trouble watching since that repetitive 'music' you had playing drove me nuts! Better no sound but your voice than those constant repeating notes that makes me feel like I'm on hold waiting for someone to pick-up on my phone. Please choose something more pleasing to play as background music to calm our nerves. Many thanks!
It looks stunning
Now I want that mold I would use it on a vase great project
I always enjoy your creative spin . Such a lovely makeover. Cheers!
Thanks for the tips! The gold is beautiful!
I love that you did something totally unique and unexpected from the IOD moulds! It takes a whole village of artists to pull the creativity from those products!
We love a good junked up!
I think it looks really cool. You did a great job on it.
So cool! This would be a cool class craft project.
It’s awesome! And that face mould in the background! Love it!
Beautiful
You are your own artist, and your funky work is fantastic!
OMG... Next shopping spree!
Wow girl 😍 love it ....the new IOD gold transfers are beautiful 😊✌
cool piece
It looks like mud.
@@lewis83 great. Thanks. Mission accomplished
Hold up- it looks like you both the front and back of the chair? But you didn’t show the actual decoupaging of the leather part of the chair????
@@jaaustin500 what do you mean? Both the back and the front of the chair are leather. I decoupaged both.
