Given that the Lions have signed a quality veteran to play OG to a short term contract allows the time for Christian Mohagoney to develop slowly and not having to start from day 1!

Joe Schmidt. Defined the middle linebacker position. Owned the pro bowl and all pro honors at position for a decade over big names like Sam Huff and Ray Neitske. Greatest Lion pre 2000s. And was a head coach with a winning record in Detroit. Hall of Fame, all time NFL honors, etc. Alex Karras was Arron Donald of his time. 100 unofficial sacks in 9 seasons from 1960 to 1960. 1958 and 59 not included, but you could add 12 to 15 more. Bubba Baker had 65.5 sacks unofficially with the Lions including 25 in one season. Karras played a lot of seasons in 12 game years, and faced the great 1960s Packers twice a year, as well as the Jim Brown Cleveland teams

I’ll take Billy Sims over Stafford! Saw him play, he was electric and much like Barry, was, at times, the entire offense it seemed! Great great player

I used to live in Michigan, and if I were there now, we would most likely spend our day on Horsehead lake, but, I live in Tennessee, so will be spending the day on my Cape Dory sailboat, on Old Hickory Lake (which isn't much more than a widening of the Cumberland river)

Agree 100% on Iffy. The only thing that can stop him is injuries. He's definitely above Joseph. Lots of people sleeping on him. Barry, CJ, Night Train Lane and Chris Spielman (because of on and off field contributions).

I’ve been telling people Iffy is the breakout star candidate for Detroit this year. I fully expect him to be the full-time starter and Joseph will be rotational. Branch and Iffy should be the starting safeties in base defense, then in nickel packages sometimes Branch will move up to nickel CB, and sometimes it will be Robertson at nickel CB.

With so many draft picks coming out of the gate on fire for the lions, there's a skewed perception on how to gage Lions draft picks. (Of course YOU are saying Iffy IS on fire already. ) There's still a some "let's see more" in the minds of folks. The thinking is by blossoming later in the year, he was able to work under the radar when opponents planned their offenses. A few more games of great play will bring Iffy more attention.

I cannot Be Billy Sims or Matt Stafford! Billy didn't play long enough and Matt Stafford, Who I love at QB, Left! He made his big win elsewhere! It would Have to be Night Train Lane and Bobby Lane! The curse is there because he didn't want to leave and A QB needs to be up there!

What Goff has done with Detroit is way better than what Stafford did with Detroit! He actually won a playoff game and should’ve won the NFC championship game!

Great problem…so slide Branch to nickel/slot and backup safety, and be able to run a Tampa 2 defense as an option? This year seems stacked.

It's not one or the other. I think it's a fact that Iffy is on the last year of his rookie contract and Kirby Joseph will be on his last year after this season. I noticed when you said he was better then CJ, Kerby, but you forgot to mention Branch. Do you think Branch is better at Safety than Iffy? Don't forget the first 2 years Iffy played outside corner and that's what he was drafted as when we got him. I would keep Branch at nickel/slot because I think he's the best at that position than any player we have. Keep Kerby and Iffy together at Safety. If Iffy plays good this season, I'd be open to re-signing him. I don't like comparing Iffy verse Kerby, keep them together.

It has always been amazing to me how many people *Want* to hate on a Good Lions QB. A Lot of people hated on Stafford for years too, and I'm telling you, NO other player was responsible for putting them in a position to win more games, and for outright winning more games, than Matt Stafford was for them... And now I'm Grateful they have Goff. It was a Brilliant trade. I think most of the people talking crap either aren't very in-depth football fans, or they just haven't been around long enough to know that you can go Decades having guys like Erik Kramer and Jon Kitna and Rodney Peete and Mike McMahon and a million other bad to decent QB's, the Best of which was probably Scott Mitchell 😂😂 - and you can have top picks and miss Easily - Andre Ware, Joey Harrington - So, when you get a QB even in the top HALF of the league, you'd better be damn sure you have a legit replacement before you act like the grass is greener on the other side.

The game was alot different then. For their era, they were HoFer's. There's a night and day difference in the athletic ability those players and modern day players have/had. Personally, till this year Matthew Stafford was without doubt their best. After the last couple years Goff has made a case for himself. Quarterback is the only position that a old generation wouldn't be equal to today's players. That is my opinion. Not that my opinion matters much.
