Detroit Lions Projected To Make A Major Move?

Ойын-сауық

Detroit Lions Projected To Make A Major Move? The Detroit Lions seem to have one of the if not the most complete roster in the NFL but there is still room to improve. Is the wide receiver room the place they should look to spend money?

We can roll that spare cap money forward, which makes re-signing Alim to a front loaded deal SUPER easy and we DO want that young man as a Lion for a long time! And camp cuts can net a vet WR to fill WR3 if Green isnt ready.

You think Green will be starting at #3WR ahead of Raymond and DPJ? We lose a starter at receiver and people are okay with the backups stepping up but when it comes to DE's we got 6 to play 1 position opposite of Hutch and people would still probably sign another one if available. The second half of last season Charles Harris, Romeo and Julian Okwara sat the bench while John Cominski started. We have more DE's than any other position, other than possibly corner.

St. Brown is a slot receiver. Jamo is our current #1 wideout. Who isn't a proven, workhorse type of receiver. I heard that the Lions don't want to trade or sign a wideout because they want to show complete confidence in Jamo. And that was why they only went with UDFA's. Might be a different story mid-season for sure. But anyways we do need a guy like the ones mentioned at wide receiver if Jamo doesn't pan out. I expect that he will pan out though!

I can't see the Lions ever not signing Decker - he's legacy and should retire as a Lion! That does mean something.

Just because St Brown is a slot doesn't mean he's not the #1WR. Jamo is #2 but after losing Reynolds, it looks like Raymond and DPJ are competing for that #3 starting spot. I personally think it's a down grade. If they were as good or better than Reynolds, they would have been starting last year. So you pretty much have the same players except Marvin Jones JR( disappointment ) and starter Josh Reynolds and you're replacing him with guys that were backups last year? Whenever it comes to DE's we got 6 and 5 of them are competing for one spot opposite of Hutch. I'm sure after this season people are gonna want to draft another one and sign 1 in free agency, like we have the last 3 years. We have more DE's than any other position on the team with the exception of Corners.

We have a lot of receiving weapons to spread the ball around to already. Jamo and DPJ will have a full offseason of experience with Goff and will be absolutely fine. For those still thinking we “need a true X receiver” I implore you to go listen to the 25 minute interview with Tom Brady on Cowherd recently where he talks at length about why they never used one or needed one.

I just hope the Lions continue to grow towards being that team that attracts players that want to be part of something very special. No Divas, lackadaisical or players with bad attitudes! Holmes and MCDC are seeing to that so far. Keep it up!!! Go Lions 🤜🤛👏👊👍

This is going to be an every-other-week topic. They haven't and won't do it. DJ Chark - Josh Reynolds never matched Higgins and yet they worked for the Lions. The outside folks can 'Man - Twerk' over shiny players while the Lions get players 'LIKE US!' Detroit vs Everybody. Don't become Everybody

I would rather roll over as much as possible to next year the cap probably will not go up next year with the NFL losing billions in the lawsuit with Direct TV and we have more of our own to sign, I think we will get the Cam Sutton money back but you never know

Kalif is still here. He was injured in the playoffs. With him and DPJ and having Jamo at WR2 we should be fine. Also Laporta and Gibbs we only have 1 ball 🏈 to go around.

If Brad continues his pattern Hutch and Jamo's extensions should happen next year. Alim, Decker, Iffy, Davis, Reader, Zeitler, Barnes are all free agents after this season. Adding a $25mill+/year contract doesn't seem like the way of the Villain. Also we traded away 3rd & 4th rnd picks from 2025 in this last draft. Trading a 2nd would leave a huge gap in that draft Brad would have to try to make up.

I think they need an X Type WR. Somebody that's 6'3, good hands, that can our jump a safety or corner and come down with the ball. If you're on the 5-yard line, it's hard for a slot or smaller wide receiver to get open when the end zone is playing a huge part in the defense.

  • @brandonbaty2291

DPJ and Laporta serve that big body role. Also, our scheme doesnt require or utilize an X receiver. You know who else never used one? The Brady Patriots. He had a 25 minute interview on Cowherd recently where he spoke at length about how they never had one or used one foreal. Once in a blue moon they would add an aging X receiver on the cheap mid season but they would still be a last resort option because he liked the middle of the field and how much bigger the catch radius is and how much easier it is to get the ball to receivers when there isnt a sideline to contend with. Sounds familiar, doesnt it?

@@brandonbaty2291 We utilized the hell out of Josh Reynolds and even DJ Chark for the short time he was here. By the way he signed a 1 year, 5 million dollar contract. I'd be surprised if Detroit wouldn't pay that for him for 1 season. I was talking more in the red zone where the end zone helps the defend the receivers. When you're playing with that short of a field, the corners, linebackers and safeties are everywhere. Very hard to get open like that. I don't know why people think we don't need another receiver when we lost Marvin Jones junior halfway through the season and Josh Reynolds. You're gonna replace his play with DPJ or more than likely Khalifa Raymond who seems like he's been doing better? If they were better than Reynolds they would have been starting the last couple years. You essentially upgrading your starter with your backup. But Hey let's get 6 players to play one position DE opposite of Hutch. Actually we have more DE's than WR's, TE's, DTs, Safeties, LB's,. Damn near every position except CB's. A lot of fans think we need another one. We're gonna have at least 2 if not 3 riding the bench the whole year just like we did last season with Charles Harris, Romeo and Juliana Okwara. Pretty much the whole second half of the season was started with John Cominski.

@@nolanzeigler3781 well damn it anyways! That figures, there's always some kind of differential. Oh yeah, that's in the rear end. Like the horses ass. lol 😆 Hey Nolan I appreciate your reply. Ya know I just hope that the missed plays that should have been. Are mistakes that aren't looked at the same way as us fans see it. I mean they're pro's getting pro 💲 That means if the ball hits your hands or in reach, it's expected of them to catch the ball. Or take the precautions to not fumble it. Imo that they must get into the frame of mind, where you don't even think about it. You just make it happen. And I feel that once you can get to that mindset. It comes as second nature. We expect the pro's to play every play like a superstar. Bcuz those are the ones who make the big plays. The rest will come automatically. Ya know I realize that you must play w/a preventative nature of safety. In the matter of speaking of staying healthy. It's a very fine line in that perspective. But I believe w/all my heart, that our Detroit Lions can play as a team that portrays themselves as a dominating, flawless, well built, and oiled, machine. And I CAN'T FREAKING WAIT!!!
