Caetsu Chaiji Ch.

Welcome to Caetsu Chaiji Ch! An excellent place to find your FFXIV Guides and Entertainment! And sometimes other stuff too!

The channel runs on a mostly predictable schedule, that I post once a week. Sometimes I will post extra stuff though!

Some particular information about me:
Over 15 years of World of Warcraft experience, with Mythic Raiding and Heroic Raiding before the existence of Mythic raiding.
Over 4 years of Final Fantasy 14 experience, with a heavy focus on job mastery.

Also, I have a Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics, if all the numbers in my videos didn't give it away!

What makes them easy are the absolutely dumb devs who keep changing all jobs to make them easier every DLCs and updates. Black Mage? Nerfed to the ground in term in difficulty when Endwalker came out. Monk? Changed to be way easier when Endwalker came out (rework) and then changed AGAIN with the release of Dawntrail (no more DoT, no more personal buff and just follow the flashy buttons). Summoner? Nerfed to the ground when Endwalker came out. Dragoon? Reworked in and changed in Endwalker and Dawntrail.

Why are there so few guides like this ?!?! This is absolutely the best SMN / ff14 guide ive ever seen. Every other guide in the existence of the game assumes your raiding at end game on the razers edge of the new xpac.

i´ve done ytyp a few times myself, though almost everytime i did it was bc someone would pull non stop and not react if i said something, after doing that once they would not do that again for the whole dungeon

I fully understand this can be addressed in an upcoming video, but the changes to astro for Dawntrail are incredibly controller friendly. Play 1 can be assigned to DPS and that only needs to be pressed once every 60 seconds (or twice every 2 minutes under optimal play). The other play buttons are basically for tanks in optimal scenarios or flexible buttons for party members if the need arises. Significantly better than giving a card on a 60 second timer and 3 cards on a 2 minute timer under ideal conditions. Don't let astro discourage you from trying the class.

No way I’m memorizing 30+ sequences while doing mechanics and therefore will forget where I’m at. I suck at this game. Too intimidating.

I was also waiting for the action combine change. I was pretty disappointed when I discovered it’s only featured for new skills above 90. As a controller player, that would be a huge quality of life change to save on hotbar space.

    As a controller player, you have immediate access to 48 crossbar buttons L2 -> 8 buttons R2 -> 8 buttons L2 L2 -> 8 buttons R2 R2 -> 8 buttons L2 + R2 -> 8 buttons R2 + L2 -> 8 buttons And that's without using R1 for quick swapping

Since I'm also playing tank too I sometimes jump forward first forgetting I'm playing melee rn and not tank 😅 stupid muscle memory putting similar tasks in the same slot with different classes 🙈 fortunately it always work just to pardon cuddle with tanky a few secs and I'm free of aggro again xD Also I don't judge tanks who don't pull w2w all the time. I'm pretty new to tanking myself and Tankxiety is real, especially when I'm unfamiliar with the dungeon. It's a learning process. But yeah, CS pullers deserve no merci. They pull and die all alone in the field

It would've been nice if you brought up timing SS during downtime to hit right as the boss phases back requiring very high levels of timeline awareness along with certain comps/fights benefiting from swapping standard step targets due to either priorizing specific jobs for strong filler/burst or specific phases in general instead of pretending like it didnt exist to make the job seem more braindead than it already is. DP swapping and precasting SS during downtime perfectly is very rewarding but also difficult.

I am guilty of YPYT, when I tank a new thing and inform at the start that I am unfamiliar with the pulls ahead of me, or someone consistently pulls bosses and everything. I do give one warning and ask them to stop, and remind them that this is new to me and do not have confidence to full-wall pulling. Usually it stops and we take a 10 to get it fully sorted, but I have no qualms when someone pulls when everyone is present due to cutscenes. I always do ready checks when I hear a whisper of “new to dungeon” so when someone disregards it and well… I lose my tolerance quickly. I would want to work on it, but when someone ignores the chat and bum rushes, I can only do so much. ( U_U)

Dancer is my favourite DPS. The personal damage sucks, no matter how much I tried to get better gear or change my materia traits. Then again, Dancer is really a support class. It's not designed to shine on its own. A good DPS when paired as a Dance Partner will top the damage sum. And boy - I just love having healing, shield and buffs skills in one class. And one thing people tend to forget - Dancer shines as an AOE party member. Dungeons with lots of mobs loves a Dancer!

I main MNK myself, also agree that Optimal Drift is overwhelming and can make it sound hard. But actually, the core filler loop is easy to follow. The standard looping lunar-solar is not that hard. In fact, the damage difference between loop and optimal drift is not that much. If you not playing for high parse, the looping version is enough.

To add a little bit to the concept of interlacing your cooldowns, every tank can use a basic version of it: Arm's Length combined with Reprisal lining up with Rampart with Reprisal. If the pack's autos are hitting quite hard, the combo of Slowing them and Reprisaling them can take a FAT chunk out of their potential damage, saving you from using other mit to have to deal with it. Arm's Length has a cd of 120 seconds, but Reprisal only has a cd of 60. Once Reprisal comes off cooldown, you can use it in conjunction with Rampart to deal with a lesser pull's damage output. You can also perform this in reverse order if a former pack hits less hard than a latter pack. In general, Reprisal is a good mitigation to combine/interlace with others due to its short cooldown and (iirc) the unique quality of NOT stacking multiplicatively with other mit (due to lowering an enemy's OUTGOING damage rather than lowering your INCOMING damage) On Warrior, oftentimes using this combo followed up by a Bloodwhetting will give you enough HP to survive most packs, and then Vengeance (soon-to-be Damnation) can be used as an intermediate cooldown. If somehow the pack isn't over before then, your Bloodwhetting should be off CD anyways so no worries there (how is this button still 25 seconds please never nerf this button it's so cool)

And with Infuriate only giving chaos for 30 seconds, Scholar's Excogitation's duration is 45 seconds, and its cooldown is 45 seconds. I rarely ever have the buff end up expiring so it doesnt come up too often.

Ive always hated paradox remaining even if you drop the buff because it doesnt grant astral fire without already being in fire, most common way I drop the buff is by casting paradox BARELY too late

About Monk and Perfect Balance at 50, the use I found for it would be to use it to loop Dragon Kick -> Bootshine -> Dragon Kick after your initial 3 hit combo. After that, you spam Dragon Kicks because they're your highest damage gcd (and you don't lose the Leaden Fist buff from wrong stanced DKs), until the twin snakes buff falls off then move on to twin snakes, refresh Demolish, use the Leaden Fist buff on Bootshine, then it's time for another DK->BS->DK->DK->DK->TwS->Demo. In Dawntrail, for Level 50-59 content you'll be using PB for whichever flavour of 3 x OpoOpo GCDs you need. Not sure if there's any point to PB in AoE though for 50-59 though since it still won't give you formless fist afterwards until you get to Masterful Blitz at 60. If you did it'd be for three Rockbreakers, which would mean losing 10 potency on one Arm of the Destroyer for 3x 130 potency hits. Feels like a fair trade on second thoughts. RIP Dragon Kick rotation I will miss you 5ever.

It's hard to say I "main" any job or even role, as it changes almost every savage tier, my group likes to switch and play around to keep things interesting and fun for everyone. Monk, however, is my favorite job in the game and has been since ARR despite all the changes it has gone through, and it looks like it probably still will be with the DT changes. Actually kinda surprising to see monk at the top, and by such a large margin, I'd have expected Ninja. Might be main bias I guess, i have done savage on monk but not on ninja yet, but i'unno

I'm fairly sure that movement *debuffs* stack additively. If you use NIN Hide (-50% movement speed) and open a Shisui box to transform into an old hag (-50% movement speed) you will have -100% movement speed and be unable to move at all.
