    IMO it would be awesome if guildhests / early game tutorials were more like that one boss in Bardam's Mettle, maybe adjusted to be a bit easier while keeping the stacking debuff mechanic. It feels so weird to me that such a good way of teaching players common mechanics is all the way in Stormblood, especially when the showcased mechanics make their first appearances much earlier in the game.

    Fun Fact: The First Official Stackmarker appears in Preatorium against Gaius. It doesnt do any kind of damage, even when taken alone as a healer, so it gives a complete false Impression since in the very next Duty (Ultima) the Stack Marker will most likely kill anyone that isnt a Tank.. if taken alone.

    Duty 6 on first glance would be difficult to mega pull since none of the other players were synced down so their gear was most likely not that good either. The lower the dps the longer the pulls increasing odds of having to use more defensives and draining healer CDs getting ever closer to danger zone.

  • @CaetsuChaijiCh

    @CaetsuChaijiCh

    Ай бұрын

    Hmm looking at the healer, the healer had endgame Shadowbringers gear, which would definitely had been synced down. The Summoner had about the same HP as the healer, so they were almost certainly also synced down. The Dragoon was a legitimate level 79 though, so they were definitely not synced down as you say. Your general observation that the lower DPS making pulls longer would make it more taxing on the tank and healer is absolutely right!

    My Crown of the Immaculate times are around 8m, so you were definitely low on dps! Welcome to Under The Armor! It's my favourite and is personally 5% of my runs. Sometimes you get someone spamming it for levels (10 under the armours fills your guildhest challenge log in 5 minutes). Challenge mode: get sub 20s completion. My best is 23s. You basically only get Solemn Trinity when someone's doing it for the first time, but when they *are*, it'll be full of mentor fill-ins, so tends to go quite smooth! I still have so much trouble with tentacle dig in Alzadaal. Are there extra tells, because it just looks to me like the tentacles swirl around randomly and I don't *think* I have time to get from the middle to an edge once they've definitely decided where they're ending up. I hate any (non-savage/extreme) duty with a stack marker with a 'ha ha don't actually stack with players' gimmick. It feels like you're being punished for being trusting. I'm not sure what a good alternative for 'quick, hide under something destructible!' should be, but I'm sure it isn't that. I agree wholeheartedly that guildhests need a re-work, even if it's just upping the numbers. I think they could be best served with a distinct reward when you do the intended mechanics (like big damage or defense) rather than the gimmicks being only really served by the descriptions/guide shouting at you.

    The fact that the DF says "Tank in need" as often as it does for all roulettes, has me suspicious. In my experience, it's healer that gets the consistent instant-queue. Tank often will not, even when a majority of roulettes list it in need as often as healer, if not even more so. I have come to suspect that there's something going on behind the scenes that's not entirely representative of the actual state of queues. Maybe Tank is prioritized to display when there are existing openings for both.

    Apparently the way "in need" works is very stupid. There could be 20 parties that need a healer, but if a single party needs Tank? Tank in Need. After that Healer takes priority over DPS, no matter how many are needed if even a single healer is needed it's healer in need. DPS in need ONLY happens if there is no one queueing currently or if ALL OTHER roles have been fulfilled for every single party.

    As some have brought up, Syrcus Tower teaches a lot of players to stack stacks, which as a rule is the wrong thing to do. Thinking on it though, seperating into light parties for stacks is not actually something a lot of players are all that likely to have encountered up to that point, since it's mostly relegated to extremes and savage raids, at least to my recollection. Maybe o9n does it, or something, but that is also optional content. I think the first time a players _has_ to content where you have to do light party stacks is Seat of Sacrifice, which so happens to be the very next duty a player unlocks in the MSQ after Heroes Gauntlet. I wonder if Wild Anguish is designed the way it is, letting you _see_ the vulnrablility debuff, and then making you have to _not_ stack the stacks, all in an attempt to teach players when and why you can't stack stakcs, since a lot of players won't have encountered that sort of mechanic before. Whenever I get Seat of Sacrifice in trial roulette, there's often a lot of first timers, and I sort of expect to wipe at least once because the fight uses a lot more advanced mechanics normally religated to higher end content. I think the fight does a good job teaching you how the mechanics work, like with the countdown "pause" and "play" indicators for the pyratic and deep freeze, before stepping it up by imbueing his sword attacks, before stepping it up again in the second phase by doing a lot of differnet mechanics between imbueing his sword and doing the imbued attack, making you have to remember. The light party line stacks is where a lot of first timers still mess up, so its perhaps debatable how effective Heroes Gauntlet is at imparting the right lesson. I think players probably figure out how to do it (often because they're shown or told what to do) without noticing the debuff, and so missing the "why".
