WELCOME TO CBRN ACADEMY!
On this KZread channel you will learn everything you need to know about present day of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear protection. We field test modern gas masks and other relevant equipment to bring you high-quality reviews, but we also play around with historical pieces in our „History of NBC units“ series to give you a better perspective on how things worked in the past and how they hold up by today’s standards.
With #civildefense gone, you're on your own 😎

The training fiters are for decontamination training where you would yue water so water might get in. So they probably make it out of a cheep matirial? Love your vidios
No idea, they weigh the same as the "real ones". Once I get more info, I'll make video about it.
7:00 I scored a brand new British Army field pack (the green camo haversack), from eBay. You're right. It is a great satchel for a gas mask. It's specifically designed for the current British Army gas masks (I've forgotten which one that is). It has internal pockets, too. One of the internal pockets is to store a spare gas mask cartridge. Their masks use a strange proprietary gas cartridge that's rather flat and long, but still rounded. I have British Army CBRN tactical aid memoir, that tells us how to use the bag (and all the other CBRN equipment). There are a couple of smaller internal pockets that it doesn't tell us how to use, though.
Yep, the Counter CBRN Aide Memoire is a very helpful book. Since we're currently finishing a review of the GSR gas mask (the current British one), I found lots of vital information about the gas mask, which I was unable to find anywhere else.
Props to the camera man!
We're glad the video quality upgrade is noticeable
Hey Andrej, is that a special gas mask beard that does not get in the way of airtightness?
I'm tempted to say yes just for the fun of it but it's not. Believe it or not, my life doesn't revolve around gas masks as this channel is just my hobby project. In any case, my ready to be deployed respirator is always attached to a PAPR unit. Positive pressure negates this ages old problem. We will address this topic however in the third episode of "what can get you killed" series and you will surely see me clean shaven for our upcoming CS spray test of older gas masks.
@@cbrnacademy I was partly joking, looking forward to new vids!
Where can i get this ShMs/PRV-U gas mask and for what price
I saw a Polish education movie from 1950's mentioning disinfection of gas masks by formalin solution or denatured ethanol.
I need to get a mask for processing onions and habaneros for when I make apricot habanero jam. Excellent!
Damn you and your cullinary suggestions! If I'm not doing civil defense and CBRN gear related stuff, I cook and prepare meals cause it's fun and I love it. So, thanks! 🤣🤣🤣
GSR VPU is hard to get and I am surprised that yours is working properly. I own two FRR VPU and both are broken....
This is interesting, tell me more as we're currently shooting GSR/FRR review. Did they break while in use? You have an idea why? Was it an electronics failure or mechanical? My guess is electronics. Needlessly complicated with way too many functions.
I love the idea of these things but the cartridge system is a no go for me personally. It locks you in to proprietary filters which are limited and very expensive. 40mm NATO filters are ubiquitous. They are also abundant in army surplus stores and the civilian market. It certainly seems like the price of the cartridge filters has dropped dramatically (they used to be twice the price) but this might well be because everyone is opting for the 40mm version of this mask. I personally would not want a mask where there was a single source for the filters. If there is a war or some kind of large scale civilian incident, Avon might suspend sales to the civilian market. During the pandemic 3M stopped selling one type of cartridge and only sold it to medical purchasers. Beautiful mask though.
The FM53/54 is compatible with 40mm filters only. You confused it with the FM50.
@@cbrnacademy I beg your pardon mate.
@@TheWtfnonamez No problem, feel free to copy+paste it in the comment section of the video we compared 40mm filters vs proprietary ones. You made a good point and more people should see this comment, just under the right video. And keep this one here as well, no need to delete it.
Hopefully the only time we need a respirator in our lives 😂
Even though I agree with your point, it's obvious you never tried to inhale freshly shred root of horseradish. Man, I though my lungs were done due to some form of chemical burn, but I was OK after a minute or so 😭😂 We'll eventually make a short about it as well. ☠
Ah, JP-75, my beloved!
do u know where i can get a jacket from saratoga? i've been searching for ages but with no luck
I recently acquired two of them as I wanted to make a better video, but only complete sets as shown in the unboxing.
@@cbrnacademy wow where are you getting these its literally impossible to find for me 😭
Poznám to veľmi dobre z vojny..... signál znel plyn-postrek,plastenku upraviť..,.
Stále aktuálne v roku 2024, čo viac treba povedať o stave OSSR :) ENG: Still relevant in 2024. What more needs to be said about the state of the Slovak Armed Forces :)
do a video on the FM-11 gas mask
Wooooo!
Not sure if you can get it elsewhere but here in the US you can get this stuff called Trident food grade silicone spray. It's the absolute best rubber preservative and works great for preserving gas masks.
I will take a look, thanks for the tip! So far I only came across rubber-preserving pouders so this is a new one to me.
hey there! loved the video, i'm really new to the gas mask world and i would like to ask, can you run 2 filters with the FM53 at the same time like the M50, and if you can whats the benefit of it?
This tutorial of ours explains all you need to know about the topic - kzread.info/dash/bejne/hYtkwbJ8fruwic4.html
@@cbrnacademy Thank you!!!
Your supposed to measure from under the chin to the top back of the head
nope, even if it was a serious review. But we will make one soon enough, explaining the measurement and sizing.
You need a smaller size.
No, size 2 is the correct size for me.
interesting..
How is it dangerous to be dorning 2 filters on the mask at the same time ? Pros/cons ?🤷♂️

Amazing video. I’m hooked on watching them and can’t wait for each one to come out! Professional quality and solid info. Keep up the good work.
Can you do the CM-6M? or CM-8M? Are they any better?
You mean CM-6M and OM-2020, right? :D I have extensive experiences with both and yes, we can make separate videos about them in time.
@@cbrnacademy Yes thank you. I only know their civilian names but its the one with the full face and the other is a more rectangle shape visor
can you review the PRVU/SHMS?
Sure, eventually. Would you prefer an actual review or something like this? :D
@@cbrnacademy an actual review would be amazing! if that works out for you
@@cbrnacademy i'll sub to see when you post
Can i clean CM-6 like this?
Yep. Just go step by step although there is nothing to disassemble with the CM-6 before cleaning.
Too bad the OG filters for that has abestos
It's not a problem to buy modern, fully compatible OZ 40x4 filters
It's good to get an expert's opinion on this mask, thank you. I received one of these for free and it works well with my face, good to know that it's a little outdated but not a piece of junk. Is there an official spectacle kit for these from Gumarny Zubri? I haven't been able to find any information on one.
Yes, there is/was a spectacle kit that could be obtained as the Czech manual describes it but I have no idea where and how to find it.
looks similar to the S10 and FM12, was this a common trend in design??
Apparently, yet the FM12 is much better (Although it's a legacy respirator). OM-90 should be also considered as such at this point.
@@cbrnacademy what's a legacy respirator?
@@NBC_noob No longer used or manufactured respirator. FM12 has been replaced by the C50 and it's no longer made if my information is correct.
@@cbrnacademy well that's a shame. The fm12 will always have a special place in my heart. I've just realised I may live to see the fm12 become an antique I can't wait to see what gasmasks are like in 50-60 years
Or Swedish Forsheda ...
I was about to comment when you introduced it as the cm7m I'm glad you didn't keep that up lol, I was very surprised to learn they outright encourage two filters at once youd think they would know basic respirator safety and not encourage something that seems outright dangerous. Lovely video very insightful. Do you know if or when you'll do another things that can get you killed?
We'll surely make another WCGYK video soon, most likely about the topic of beards, lots of misconceptions floating around. 😎
Twin filters are used in some military context (as instance instructors in gas chamber, witht the US M40, or S10 ... among others), or hazmat CBRN emergency.
Thank you for making a proper video on this mask. MIRA sure is taking advantage of a niche market. Good for them?
Obviously as the OM-90 is nothing to write home about. You can imagine how much money MIRA Safety funneled into its marketing to persuade people it's actually better than it actually is.
Many thanks for a great video. Question: the voice amplifier. Is there a volume control? Or do you simply control the volume of your voice?
Hi there, no, there is not. Next week we're releasing a comprehensive VPU test and among the three types I own, none of them have volume control. What actually makes a difference volume-wise is whether you speak normally or talk loudly so yeah.
@@cbrnacademy Thanks for the info -- appreciated. I film around the world with Elite Police units/ SWAT etc. This link might interest you (South African SWAT) kzread.info/dash/bejne/ipd4s9pqc9jghqQ.htmlsi=z2ra-S9YejqESwsO
Bro just has no hair to interfer kkkkkk
perks of baldness!
it also comes with revolutionary liquid cooling technology using your sweat!
See?! There are so many awesome technologies integrated it's humanly impossible to keep track of them all!
This might be not related to the video at all but, what would be your go-to gas mask in a doomsday scenario? I'm just genuinely interested what gas mask you would choose.
Good idea for a video, will make it happen soon! Anyway, here's a quick answer - Triple A, meaning Avon GSR, Avon FM53 and Avon C50. What can I say, they are superior.
@@cbrnacademy Tysm for considering to make a video about that topic :) Also great to know! I'm thinking about getting the C50 for a while, and now I'm damn sure that I will buy the C50 👀
@@O5Councilor You can never go wrong with the C50 🥰 Way beyond something a regular civilian could ask for and I mean it. We're also releasing a rather big video this weekend on voice projection units comparison so stay tuned!
@@cbrnacademy This is too perfect. I was just thinking about getting a VPU, ima wait for that video to drop then
