That's a shame, but it was obviously done from a sense of responsibility, so morally the action can't be faulted. I had very strict parents, I learnt early on in life to never leave any signs that I had used anything or been in any room to not get shouted at or whatever. As an adult it was the same with having to share any accommodation with others where there was also a lot of politics to also never leave any signs of using anything. I think with something like a cabin like that, it is similar, unless you have any improvements to make, but leave no signs of having used anything, including leaving any rubbish. However even with people like that it seems sadly that cabin was a victim of it's own success on the internet, which is ironic.
That is why it flooded lots of good snow. I wish California can get that much snow.
