Although I admire Truman tremendously, truly one of our greatest, if not one of the least likely of men to become president, it's sadly nonetheless true that he probably couldn't make it in today's media & political climate, something that's true for almost all our nation's Chief Executives up to a certain point. So much now depends on telegenic looks, media savvy, smooth, glib speaking styles with no regional accents, etc., etc. While I wouldn't say Truman had matinee-idol looks, he definitely was not un-handsome. He was a perfectly acceptable male-specimen of the American midwest, with no irregularity of features. Even today, seen in film-footage, he comes-off as telegenic in that regard; by this, I mean he registers well on film, a good, basic, honest, well-defined face, impossible to dislike. When displayed, he had a very agreeable smile, also. There are 2 main areas, I think, that would do him in today---1: his voice, rather flat, nasal, & inflectionless; and 2: his blunt manner of speaking. Both likely would get him into trouble today. Truman was a very good, very intelligent, & great man, though, proving himself amazingly competent during a very trying & difficult time in our history.

@@philb.1502 I am not sure what you see of value. I lived through his terrible presidency. One failure after another. Inflation sky rocketed, oil embargo,Oil prices, hostages in Iran he could not get out. Terrible policy and a very down hill out look on life in those days. Very very bad President. Just because of him we are dealing with the Ayatollah, looking to get nukes. He allowed Khomani to leave France and rule Iran.Super awful. Every policy was a loser, bad economy, I could go on and on.

I grew up a huge Leno fan, and still am. He is one of the greatest comedians ever. David Letterman is the king though, because he gave more comedians their shot. Also I found out about a dead comedian while tuning into a random Late Show one night. His name is my all time favorite comedian, Bill Hicks.

If QT is a racist, then he’s a pretty lousy one - he’s repeatedly given black actors roles which have earned them a lot of money and furthered their careers. Can’t help but feel it’s only insecure white people who call him a racist just because they want to appear woke.

The good lord did the same for me on my biology exam. I was sick with a debilitating illness for days up until the night before the exam. I realized that i couldnt learn all of this information in one night and prayed to the lord that he gives me divine assistance to do well exam. My goal before i got sick was to get a 90 on the exam so i could raise my term grade to an A but after getting sick I was just hoping to pass. i took the exam, despite not knowing an alarming amount of the questions, i felt a deep sense of peace and no anxiety whatsoever. I got a 93 and finished the semester with an A. I know for a fact the lord assisted me during that exam. I thank him everyday.

Very mixed feelings seeing this today. I see a lot of good will and idealism in Jimmy Carter. But looking back it seems like it failed terribly. The US should have handled this tougher from the beginning. It was obvious that apartheid on the one side and terrorism on the other would be a ticking timebomb. What is currently happening is just making it worse. The US should take its role seriously and bring order in this terrible mess. Which unevitably means being tough towards both sides.
